An amazing piece of work with a beautiful outcome
17 November 2005
Tim Burton is definitely one of my favourite directors, his films never seem to fail in my mind, as he is such an amazing director. He always chooses the darker and more Gothic approach in film making. His film Edward Scissor Hands is incredible. With excellent acting from Johnny Depp, he looks so sweet and innocent, and yet he is mistaken by the Surburbia society to be evil. When a lady decided to take him in, and fix his scars, she doesn't quite realise what she's got herself into. The young man Edward is not any 'normal' person, he was created by an inventor who happens to be Vincent Price. Edward has scissors for hands and causes more damage than immediately thought. Also starring in the film is Winona Ryder, who is rather annoying as she seems to be loved by Edward, she is not the best actress in this film, but i think Johnny Depp is excellent and he makes up for her bad acting. Directed superbly with amazing music that will make your heart beat faster and slower at the same time.

Highly recommended for film fans every where, this is an excellent film and should not be forgotten.

Barbie as Rapunzel (2002 Video)

Barbie as Repunzel may not be the most appealing film of the century, but alas, it is still worth watching
6 November 2005
This remake of the classic story Repunzel, is perhaps not to everyones liking. For young girls this would greatly appeal but as for the older generation it may not be a film you would purposely watch. I however did, i also decided to look deeper into the meaning behind the film, which may seem practically impossible as the main character is a blonde doll.

When you've had a hard day at work, school or in the home you choose to look for things to help you escape reality. Some choose soap operas, some choose music, some choose cigarettes or alcohol and some choose films.

Barbie as Repunzel is the ultimate escape from reality. Most films are not based on reality. The idea of a film is to take you some where else mentally and emotionally.

Barbie as Repunzel may seem to be just a girlie CGI film, but if it was based on reality the idea and outcome would be totally different. The idea of happily ever after is non-existent. It's impossible to go through life so pure and 'perfect.' Barbie is the modern girls icon, which may depress many because in reality Barbie would just fall over due to the small feet and over-sized chest.

Barbie as Repunzel is based on a young girl being locked in a tower, finding a prince who saves her and living happily ever after. If it was a realistic film, it would seem quite a paedophilia thing that she's kept in a tower by a strange woman and the magic in the film would not exist in reality, so the chances are Barbie/Repunzel would never escape, be used as a slave and then die in the tower she lives in.

But Barbie as Repunzel is not based on reality, not many films are. If you want a totally unrealistic, imaginative and surreal escape from reality, this is the film for you.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants to spend 2 hours watching Barbie.

Corpse Bride (2005)
Nothing is more appealing than an animated Tim Burton film.
6 November 2005
This newest Tim Burton film is based on the fairy tale of The Corpse Bride. Starring the voices of Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, this incredible lively film, with amazing music by Danny Elfman is absolutely brilliant.

With the unmistakable clay characters, obviously born to Tim Burton, have smooth flowing animation and a sense of humour.

However amazing this film is, nothing will ever come close to the greatness that is The Nightmare Before Christmas. Tim Burton is one of the greatest directors. With other films such as Big Fish, Edward Scissorhands, Batman and the almighty Nightmare Before Christmas.

Highly recommended for any Burton, Elfman or Depp fans.

Once Upon A Time In Mexico... what more can be said?
6 November 2005
Johnny Depp and Antonio Banderas feature in this full-on action. Full of fantastic fights and invigorating violence. A great story line and a funny character provided by Sands (Johnny Depp.)

A re memorable performance from Antonio Banderas as a mysterious killer in the depths of Mexico. Full of action and humour, contains very little romance but some emotional drama.

This film, i felt, was one of Johnny Depp's quality performances. He has a great sense of humour in this and turns this film from being a serious Mexican action, into a funny stunt full piece of work.

With incredible directing from Robert Rodriguez, who is known for his amazing directing on Desperadose, this is a film to not be forgotten.

Highly recommended for anyone who has a taste for modern westerns, blood, action or Johnny Depp.

A quality family film with an imaginative story line
6 November 2005
Walice and Gromit are known throughout all ages, known for their spectacular characters and smooth flowing animation. The two hero's hit the big screen in this new family comedy. Curse of the Were-Rabit is their first feature length film after creating big laughs with A Close Shave and A Grand Day Out.

The amazing animation and hilarious jokes are sure to capture its audiences laughs and imagination.

I have never been the biggest fan of Walice and Gromit, sure i've seen A Grand Day Out and The Wrong trousers, but they never appealed to me as i was growing up. I was rather young to understand the humour and in many of their films they have small jokes that no one notices. And yet this film reminded me of my child hood and sitting with my family watching these types of films. Even if your opinion of the film is that it had bad directing, or a poor quality script - It still, on some level, must have reminded you of your child hood. Sure I'm young now and will be for another decade or so, but this film brought me back to some memories i had forgotten.

This film has decent funny characters and contained memories of people the creators had never even met.

Highly recommended for all ages and anyone who wants a quality humoured film.
