OMFG the most amazing film I have seen in a long, long time.
I told people that Paranormal Activity was like blair witch project only 100 times better. The first five to ten minutes of Ink sets up the basic story. This prologue is as good as the entire film, Paranormal Activity. The time line is not linear; however, the interrupted time line is part of the story. It only takes a few minutes to get used to. This is definitely a must see. It is the most amazing film I have seen in I don't know how long. I can only think of one film to compare it to. I can't tell you what it is, though. It would be as bad as a spoiler. It would give too much away. I look forward to seeing more from the Winans.
Dark Planet (1997)
Great human interest/morality play
Dark Planet is a post apocalyptic morality play, centered around the thesis, "robots don't make good humans". If you enjoyed Firefly and Serenity as much as I did, there is a good chance you will enjoy Dark Planet. I never heard of a theater release. I discovered it on the shelf of a video rental store. I watch it as often as I watch my other favorites: Blade Runner, Highlander, Serenity, Predator, Excalibur, Soldier and Chronicles of Riddick.
If you are a fan of these films, it is hard for me to imagine you not liking Dark Planet.
I think Dark Planet is a really great film. In fact, I wonder if it could be successfully presented on stage. The small cast makes it well suited to such a venue. I read some of these reviews and I wonder what film they were watching.
Sci Fi of the quality of The Day the Earth Stood Still - a CLASSIC
This film should win an Oscar for editing at the very least. This film has a tremendous story, excellent character portrayal, great visual effects, and even if you can't see the antagonist's point of view, you can respect him for his conviction. Destined to become a classic on the order of The Day the Earth Stood Still. I really liked the Films "Dark Planet", "Pitch Black", and "Chronicles of Riddick" (a terrific Conan story set in space); but Serenity far exceeds these films. the only bad thing, is that by saying all of this, I run the risk of building your expectations so high, that you don't enjoy the film as much as I did. What I liked best about this film, is that relatively unknown actors were able to make this such a tremendous overall success as a piece of film-making. It's always fun to see your favorite stars in any film, but you know a film is good when it launches new stars.
