He could've just donated it. The whole thing was completely ridiculous. If it wasn't for Dennis O'Keefe's handsome face, it would be a complete zero. I definitely do not recommend watching this movie.

Topper Takes a Trip
(1938)
I Just Can't...

I've watched the first and third Topper films and I was willing to overlook the fact that a ghost apparently can eat, drink, and smoke cigarettes for the sake of some of the other comedy sequences. However, three movies of this is just too many. I mean Marion can't pass thru the safe door to get Topper's passport, but she can drink? Now the dog is in on it too? No. I'm sorry.

Slow and Boring

I adore Cary Grant but this is not his best film. It's very slow and in need of restoration. In addition to that, his female lead's acting abilities leave much to be desired. I watched the first hour and couldn't stand anymore. I gave it five stars simply because anything he's in shouldn't be less than that. He's my guy.

Nope

I couldn't handle the pauses in the acting so the internal dialogue thought could be played. I want to see acting. The internal dialogue process should be saved for getting a feel for your character before you act the part. That's my opinion anyway. Snoozeville.

Just a Perfect Gem

Great acting, good script. One doesn't have time to get bored because the dialogue is good and constant and moves the picture along. Clark Gable and Greer Garson look so darn good together that I found myself wishing they had been together in reality.
Gable had so much control in that he could convey anguish and sadness in certain scenes but never does he appear weak. Garson was solid as always. Both brilliant performers. Thomas Mitchell and Joan Blondell are great as well. A fantastic cast!

Good Acting, Poor Research

Not even remotely historically accurate. Dates are wrong. Location of where people were and what they were doing are wrong. That said, Beatty and Bening did ok with what they had to work with. Overall, I give it a 'meh'.
The Conversation
(1974)
DATED
9 April 2020
I love classic cinema, but this one is written so much for the technology of the day, it's completely dated. The film is so slow to build to any excitement, and the conversation between Cindy Williams and the spectacled male actor is played over and over. Not the best film Ive seen in a while.
