The Joy of "No expectations"
15 July 2013
Superhero movies, Comics movies, known character movies, they all suffer from a baggage. You go in with a certain expectation. The last few movies of superhero Genre were a disappointment, because, they all look the same. Its like one superhero, different underwear.

So when trailers for this movie came out, it looked like an ultimate B-Grade slug fest. One of those monster movies, which are so bad, that it is actually funny.

However, as the reviews came in, it was certain, this was different. And as the movie started, it was like Whoa.

Too much emphasis is given to back stories, or psychology, or human side blah blah because it makes the director feel intellectual, and pseudo liberal.

However, here there is no pretense. The movie starts with a bang, and then its bang bang all the way.

The climax is bang bang(little clichéd though), but its all so enjoyable that you do not care.

Its been a long time since a pure no holds barred action flick has come. Wish Hollywood makes more movies like this!

A big disappointment!
17 July 2009
The movie looked from a stand alone perspective is okay, but when you compare it to the book, its one of the worst executions. Many interesting parts from the book are missing, with useless parts from the book added. The director has chosen the easy route, and at the end of 2 and a half hours you feel the movie is incomplete. The scenes which should have been the longest are short, and lot of effort is given to the sub plots, which could have been skipped. In the whole movie nothing really happens, it just drags on.

Moreover, at the end there is a sense of incompleteness. The book made you want more, you wanted the last part tome come out quickly, but with this movie, its just "poof".

Direction is good, but editing is not, and character development is not very good.

Pretty Lousy
16 May 2008
Boring, to say the least. After watching the first part, went with high expectations. The entire movie could have been 30 minutes long and it would have been so much longer. There is over 1:30 hours of extra boring stuff.

I won't put any spoilers in here, but in the movie you have lots of blokes walking through a forest doing nothing.

Its hard not to fall asleep in the first half. The second half has battles, but no originality. Bits of Tolkein, bits of roman war movies, and some really pathetic sword fighting.

The lead characters do not know how to even hold a sword. It actually looks stupid. Except for Lucy, everyone has done a bad job.

A great feel good movie

This is all about chasing your dreams, no matter what the obstacles. The movie is funny in a subtle way and the acting is brilliant. It is rare that such gems come out of the Indian Film industry. Overall a refresher amongst the crap which normally plays in theaters.

The story involves a young deaf and dumb boy who is crazy about cricket, and how he hides behind buffaloes to watch a coaching camp and learn bowling. Eventually he finds a teacher in a failed cricketer(played by Nassiruding shah) who leaves his drinking habit and makes it his personal battle to place Iqbal in the Indian cricket team. This movie also touches upon the corruption in the selection system and commercialization of cricket.
