WE ALL KNOW THE STORY. OK lets start by asking why would somebody think that they can remake a classic and make it better... answer is they cannot end of.So if anyone has seen the original and has stopped cringing ,i haven't yet, they will know this has taken off so many predictable scary scenes and made them laughable, they have been done a lot better in films with a lot less budget, also while i fry my brain trying to relate to this and the original it just does not come close. it is a weak interpretation and a total waste of viewing time, and as for part 2 i will not part my numb bum cheeks to subject them to more of the same. in my opinion which this is , the title is missing 2 letters and if you saw this film you would know the first letter begins with S

first off let me start by saying I was looking forward to watching this film after all the mysterious hype. the acting is forced and without sense of direction, the structure of the film is totally confusing and at times annoyingly so. the story line is so pretentious it is bordering on offensive. not to give anything away the basic story is of a couple who have uninvited guests of varying annoyance ,well that's the films story in a nut shell. save your money and read a book from the bible its a lot less confusing and annoying total and utter waste of talent because these are talented actors and deserve better and so do we.

well here goes i am not going to try to break this movie down to intricate parts because there are none. atypical b slasher movie with distasteful characters and obvious outcomes. no redeeming qualities as is typical of this type of movie. a lot of screams and are you serious prevail , no one is likable nor believable. girls are hot boys are stupid blah blah. i gave it a 4 because as stated girls are hot but not likable in any way that is morally acceptable .a bad attempt at what is an overused genre could and should have been better with the talent available.

A Field in England (2013)

confusingly pretentious

well this is the third time i have tried to watch this film and this time i forced myself ,literally forced myself to watch it till the end. so here is my take on this film. a group of soldiers from a British civil war all with cowardly characters and an intuitive bravery for greed (a treasure is deeply implied) in a field in England. well that's it really , add a few toilet and sexual references and bad acting then that is all there is ,did i forget to mention mushrooms and a totally unbelievable reece shearsmith (league of gentleman fame) wasted on this dross.not a film i would recommend to the sane and serious film viewers ,but someone did get stung by nettles hence i gave it a very generous 4

Hacksaw Ridge (2016)

war film by in my opinion an Oscar deserved director

ww2 war film , where do i start.well here i go. AMAZING FANTASTIC AND SO BRUTAL .a real and i mean real depiction of war and its total lack of reverence of life except for 1 man and his total and unshakeable belief in his faith who has no problem laying down his life to save others but will not kill.can not describe how brave a man can be. mel Gibson done a perfect job all actors worthy of Oscars . if this is what you produce mel Gibson keep doing it excellent film. the graphically portrayal of war is hard to watch but so so real especially the effect of a bullet or a fused grenade .casting was great many spring to mind but casting of andrew garfied genius perfect. all were amazing. what a film left me smiling left me worried left me caring left me wondering great film . 10 rating from me

A Monster Calls (2016)

oh god enough of these types IE. dying mother angst ridden son guilty over her and lovey lovey tosh. only ONE good thing in the movie is the so called monster , ho hum BORING ON ALMOST EVERY LEVEL. seen it before and done better hence the generous 3 rating, could have been so much more if and i say if it took a different turn half way through . but acting was OK typical Xmas dross . these film studios try to set a trend over the certain seasons where a school holiday is involved (allegedly) don't quote me ,but it seems to be true (allegedly).but back to the film , cant say any more than the trailer delivers that is it that's all there is to it trailer is better than the film (bfg springs to mind)

Excision (2012)

what a weird and wonderfully acted film, acting was above par for a film of this genre, story line was easy to follow and somehow delicious to watch as the angst and delusional qualities of the main character unfolded, it does have humor blackest at best but there nonetheless.the story tells of an 18 student with delusions of medical excellence and somewhat of an anomaly in her school year and at odds with her family especially her mother (play superbly by tracy lords)yes that tracy lords.not sure how to categorise this film ,not out and out horror not a black comedy but maybe a bit of both . good watch would recommend it gave it 8/10

Firstly let me say this is a film not for everyone.personally i loved it , acting was superb direction editing all spot on. as with all films of this genre from japan and and other Asian countries it will be remade (badly i may add ) by the more popular outlets of ,lets just say western money making studios. OK the plot is a bit of a slow burner at the start but soon picks up into an easy to follow story line (some might find the subject matter hard to stomach )but the acting is superb and the gory violence very believable at times. it is hard to compare another film like this where the acting and dialogue go so well together and the lead actor is a joy to watch (perfect casting).in my opinion better than battle royal and probably my fave film due to the acting and crisp and psychotic performance a gem.
