Alone in the Dark (2005)
Not Good but better than a 2.3 rating
Ok so after seeing all the reviews and the rating for this movie I was expecting a laughable terrible movie with no plot and no acting talent. While this movie in no way is a good movie it is at least a 4 or a 5. The bad parts of this movie can be cringe worthy but if you act like this movie has no good scenes you are lieing to yourself. The fat bald security guards death was awesome. The story needs some changes but it's not as bad as any Sharknado movie. The last Stand scene where all the creatures attack the soldiers is also a pretty good scene. I think the most terrible scene is when they have a gun fight in the middle of the movie and they keep showing terrible shots of Tara Reid firing her gun at nothing with some weird dark background. Tara Reid still hott tho. And finally Stephen Dorffs death was pretty stupid. He's firing at the creatures that seem to be miles away in the background but he's shooting like they are right in front of him. Then he blows up the entrance and sacrifice's himself when it seemed like clearly he could have gotten away. His death was forced badly. All in all if you expect this movie to be epic it simply isn't. But if you can sit back and enjoy cheesy movies like Sharknado or Anaconda this movie to me is better than those.
Better than the Original
Not sure why this one has a lower rating then the first. The only thing about the 1st one that was any good was Jon Voights character. In this movie the kills are better and there purpose for being there makes more sense. The crew are not as fool hardy as JLo and Ice Cube and this movie does a better job with the jungle elements. By no stretch a perfect film, but if you are into Giant Animals hunting Humans this is pretty entertaining.
Ok good but not great
I think the only reason Jamie Lee Curtis wanted to make this sequel is because of this strong women wave that has started in Hollywood making female leads badasses. Seeing her essentially play Sarah Conner threw out this one, and it doesn't feel right. Anyway the movie is still really good and entertaining to watch. Ulthough im not a big fan of the ending. The way it ends just the way they trap him I didn't think was clever it was predictable and I don't think Michael would even go for it. The part where he is throwing over furniture trying to find them is dumb. Then he finds the spot and just willy nilly walks in front of it. Michael Myers would have smashed threw the floor or cut the power so no one could see and waited for them. It just felt like ok Laurie Strode has to win so Michael will be dumber than normal no one will notice because good camera angles. The middle of the movie tho is really good some really good kills and I like how he gets his mask back. I didn't like Dr. Sartin going evil I thought we already had a stupid evil psychiatrist in Halloween 6. I gave it a 7 outta 10. I would have given it a 8 if the ending was better.
