The Time Traveler's Wife (2022)
Traveling Salesmen See Their Wives Less
I tried. But two episodes, and nothing dramatic has happened except the Traveler's Mom dies a horrible death at Xmas. This guy spends more time with his wife than your average high-mileage truck driver.
Under the Banner of Heaven (2022)
Decent Crime Story Turned Into "Centennial" in Reverse
Decent Crime Story Turned Into "Centennial" in Reverse I was gonna watch a decent crime story, NOT the entire book. And it WAS better than decent, until the dreary, detailed history of the entire Morman movement, and all the effed-up violence in the 200 year-old history of ONE Moorman family turns a better than decent crime story until "Centennial" in reverse begins. OK, I get it, but it's not a huge leap to intuit that there is, and always has been, a tradition of violence with the Laffertys. The series is an unnecessary failure, despite excellent acting by:
Andrew Garfield as Det. Sam Pyre. It would be nice to see him unencumbered by such a tedious over-telling of this otherwise brilliant Krakauer book. Up and coming Bill Birmingham, ("Hell and High Water," "Wind River," etc.), Showtime veteran Adelaide Clemens and, along with Sam Worthington and Daisy Edgar-Jones, all wonderful British-trained actors. And let's not forget Christopher Heyerdahl as the evil godfather of the Lafferty Clan. You want to make sure a movie or a series has the potential to be a hit, hire British actors. Unfortunately, even they couldn't pull this one out.
Raised by Wolves (2020)
Another Dystopian Waste
What is it with these dystopian streaming series?
Why do we continue to get the best the series has to offer, packed into just the first 5-or-6 episodes? At which point, NOTHING ELSE HAPPENS!!
"Raised by Wolves" is just another overly long, script-sick series that manages only to abandon and disappoint its audience.
Ozark (2017)
Great Series, Bad Season 3
I'd like to know who decided to just hand over one of the greatest crime series ever to one character.... Ben. A character severely over-acted by Tom Pelphrey. I never thought I would fast-forward any part of Ozark, but by episode 6, I had enough of the scene after scene of Ben's completely overdone rants. Then again, and to be fair to Pelphrey, the writers and director Jason Bateman were ultimately responsible for the hijacking of this gem. Please don't introduce anymore major characters to the final season. It will be enough of a challenge to resolve all of Ozark's complex story-lines in just 10, or even 12 episodes. One good thing to come out of season 3, is that we won't have to look at Helen in those rediculous short-cuffed navy pants, and her over-billowy v-neck blouses!
El robo del siglo (2020)
Anything Starring Andrés Parra!
One of the best actors in the world, I'd watch a kindergarten play if he was in it! Time for him to get the awards and honors he deserves! Viva Andres!!
Ad Astra (2019)
Endings
When will Hollywood regain the art of the ending?
Such promise absolutely destroyed by the ending (or non-ending)! After he arrives home safely, you're left with Brad Pitt's "report" where he says nice, courageous, and noble words. And that's it!
Kind of reminds me of Dwight Yoakum's character in Sling Blade as he describes his failure to understand The Bible. "I can't figure out the Old or New Testament. I mean it's all: so and so begat so and so, and then someone comes down to Earth and says some stuff!"
