B.T.K. Killer (2005 Video)

Bloody awful-read the spoiler instead of watching the movie-you'll thank me

Story goes like this, Netflix was late sending me my dvds so I went on down to the the analog rental place known as "Blockbuster Video" They suck you know. Real bad, They have 150 copies of the latest lame movies for your viewing pleasure yet I never want to see any of those. So I saw BTK Killer there on the shelf, all by its lonesome self. I like seeing films based on serial killers. Its just a part of humanity that I will never understand, therefore I wanna see that kind of stuff. Anyways I put this DVD in and all the sudden from the very first second, it sucks. I'm sitting there with my b.f. and we are like, "what is this kind of crap?" Unsteady camera operation, horrible acting,- the first scene in which a woman gets killed you wonder if she would rather just calmly gab instead, Then a rat gets stuffed down her throat. I really wonder if the director has a hard-on for this crap. There is nothing decent about this "film". All I have to say to the director is "do you own a freakin' tripod?" Every shot was brutally unstable. The music was awful. It was like they just decided one day to make a movie. They were probably gathering people from WalMart to show up and "act" for them. Just plain awful. If you make a movie like this then directing is your hobby-NOT what you should be doing for a living- SHould not make it to the DVD renal outlets for movie buffs like myself. Better left at home for your friends when you are having a party and run out of interesting things to entertain them with.... Then you break out your BTK KIller film and say, "Wanna see this crappy movie I did once?"

Elephant (2003)

Beautiful film, yet deeply disturbing

I saw my high school self in this film. High school apparently really sucks for these two guys. Eric and Alex carry some sort of bond in this film. You keep wondering where this is all going. Eventually we find they might be homosexuals, but very angry ones. So angry they order some high powered assault rifles via the world wide web. They enable their plan. Their plan to kill anyone that stands in their way at school. You get the idea that they are filled with hate. They hate the jocks-they blow them away. They also blow away teachers and nerdy losers-no mercy.

Beautifully shot by Gus Van Sant. His angles very smart. Some scenes are all done with one shot. Multiple perspectives are used which is where the real strength of this film lies. With each perspective comes a scene revealing just a little bit more than the last perspective.

As disturbing as I find young adults with no will to live and every ounce of their soul to be brewing with evil, this film is quite exceptional.

A Prairie Home Companion (2006)

Loved this film

Finally saw this film. Beautifully directed by Robert Altman, superbly written by A Prairie Home Companion creator Garrison Keillor. The cast is flawless. Every character owning their lines. The film starts off a little slow but I think this was to achieve a sort of peeling away of the layers effect of the story. Its the final show and this show represents many a peoples lives. Emotions are very high. They are in a vacuum of time-not literally. This show is done every week the old fashioned way-before television. When Lola(an accurate Lohan) asks Keillor if it really is the last show, he ingeniously replies, "Every show is your last show..." Through all this a mystery is slowly evolving. A death occurs at the base of this mystery. The Dangerous Woman in white(played by an eerily vacant and vapid though beautiful Virginia Madsen. Her character incredibly spiritual reveals to a very clumsy and curious Kevin Kline. "This is a revelation" She is as prominent in this film as Garrison Keillor, in virtually every other scene. She appears nearly everywhere including on stage while the performers are singing and acting. The viewers begin to wonder if this Woman in White is a Mirage of some sort. A superb pair of singing sisters marvelously played by Lily Tomblin and Meryl Streep sing their hearts out with some pretty raw emotions. Their songs filled with spirit and their sadness that their life long call of singing together for a few generations has been reduced from four(formerly joined by their mother and other sister Connie) to now just two. Their harmonies as a pair now sung thinner with their loved ones absence. The heart of this film lies within the music and the hilarious faux-sponsored live promotionals. Woody Harrelson and John C. Reilly give some hilarious numbers.

BLOODY Awful

50 Cent should fake his death after this 2 hour embarrassment.

It is 100% pile of steamy crap with corn and flies. The script was if it was written by someone in the third grade.

The acting was deafeningly stale. The scene with the knifefight in the steamy shower slipping on soap was worthy of being left on the cutting room floor.

It went on and on and on.

Boring and more boring and wait! Even more boring still.

I am embarrassed for rap music after seeing this.

I want my DMC and Public Enemy.

Me and You and Everyone We Know (2005)

Amazing film

I couldn't find anything wrong with this film. The acting is superb. I had no idea what it was about before I saw it. I saw it in Portland Maine with my sister, my boyfriend and my sisters friend. It simply ebbs and flows with very cool background music. The online conversation with the young boy will forever in my memory be one of the most hilarious things I have EVER seen on film. I almost wet myself. At first I wasn't sure If he was just bored or was aware that the other person on line with him knew how old he was. It had a disturbing feel to it, and I wondered if this film was going to be about pedophilia, however I feel it was all purely circumstantial innocence.

I found myself crying slightly during the scene with the young girl and her young male friend lying on her bedroom floor as she told him about all the different things in her hope chest. i got the impression that she was a completely introverted kid up until that point.

Miranda July's direction and writing are amazing. (I was excited to see she was born in Barre Vermont. I wonder if we ever crossed paths, ever.) Her scenes are what brings this film to that level of honesty that you can't dislike. She communicates how we all feel about every day things-things most of us would never say to someone else. The scene in which her performance video is viewed by a local art director (when she is assuming this cold and heartless woman will just toss it aside) Is so great, it gave me a hope for humanity in this day and age.

I also wept at the end in the scene in which Miranda puts the paining in the tree. It was poetic and beautiful.

i can't wait to see what she does next.
