Fifties and early sixties comedies generally had a problem dealing with minority issues. In this episode stereotypes prevailed and clunky jokes with Indian punch lines were frequent. Since the Douglas family had traveled frequently in the preceding seasons one would think they could do a little better. And not unusual it seems the actors cast as Native Americans had other ethnic backgrounds.
