An Effortlessly Delightful movie
25 November 2018
The quintessential indie movie for music lovers! This movie doesn't abide by a particular storyline and flows just as seamlessly as good music does. The music essentially acts as an aureole for the movie, silently yet gracefully elevating it. Additionally the music is brought to life by the dulcet voices of the leads.

Nick Offerman once again does an exceptional job as the mellow, supporting dad. The troubles of his character are very well sketched and his stance on issues is easy to understand. Offerman, with his rock-hard face carries each scene with a melody. His daughter, played by Kiersey Clemons gives a hell of a performance as well.

The movie essentially conveys the beauty of music and how influential it can be in our everyday lives. It shows how for some people music is literally the way of life. With its powerful lyrics we see the deep meaning that songs bear. In this motion picture the effect of music manifests itself in the act of strengthening the bond between the father and daughter.

Throughout the movie there is no sense of a bigger picture, or purpose and that is where the beauty lies. It is strikingly similar to real life with a lot of small talk that makes the characters more relatable. This is a very well-constructed movie with wonderful music bound to captivate audiences of all ages. And for those who have never been touched by music get ready for your heart to beat loud to the rhythm of the film

What A Bummer!
28 March 2017
I must mention that I have never played the game. So all I know about this franchise is from this movie alone. I went in expecting it to be fair to middling, but that was an over estimation.

This movie is slightly disordered and off hand. Things just happen, questionable things but we just have to accept them as they are. They constantly jump to the next scene without letting the previous ideas and actions sink in. It's either that or there some scenes which try hard to depict the intensity of the situation but fail

The general idea of the movie is understood. The typical -"some oh so precious artifact must not fall into the wrong hands as it would spell the end of the world ". Though the consequences are constantly mentioned the audience is not really concerned. Some characters just exist for the sake of it providing no required purpose.

The most disappointing aspect of the movie were the action scenes!! If not for anything else I thought this movie would be highlighted by its phenomenal battles. I expected more bloodshed and gore. At times the movements of the actors were slow and not fierce like they should've been.

There was nothing to complain about the acting and with the stunning leads they had, it was obvious.

In the end it was a very bland movie with high potential. It was entertaining of sorts but once its over, you are left blank. It does not confide anything to ponder over.

I guess this movie would've been a big hit for those who have actually played the games. As they would understand the depth of the situation. However for any other movie goer it's just another flick to cross off from your list.

Arrival (II) (2016)

Thought Provoking!!

Wow! So far the Oscar movies are absolutely terrific and ARRIVAL is just as so. It deals with one of the most run-of-the-mill situations that has been portrayed several times in Hollywood-'The Arrival of extra terrestrials on earth.' However this approach is like nothing we've seen before. It is above the typical idea of extinction of the human race. It has a much more radical perspective (when I say this, I refer to the way they dealt with the situation, it was very human like)

Each and every aspect of the movie is perfect right from the story to the acting. Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner were brilliant as the leads. All the scenes were directed with a purpose that is easily understood. In each clip the audience is able to feel exactly what the director wanted to show. You are able to relate to the character's emotions and actions.

As for the story we see that more than it just being scientific, a philosophical outlook is also shown. The soundtrack is a great asset of the movie. It amplifies the feels of each situation for the audience. Especially in the ending, surely it'll stay in your head a while.

This movie is a must see. Everything you could possibly expect from it, it delivers on and does much more than that.

SPOILERS: The only questionable scene of the movie was the part where they show Louise teaching the language of the aliens to a class. Now imagine a world where everyone knew the future, that would be madness. Certainly someone would want to change what they see, and that could only lead to chaos.

The Invitation (I) (2015)

Good but not Great.

This movie is certainly underrated (though only a bit ). It starts of very well, giving the audience the chills with its eerie soundtrack. This is only heightened as the movie progresses. The movie surely captivates you and makes you quite unsure of what to think. They lead you into believing something is about to happen but keep prolonging it. This undeniably helps with the suspense.

The characters are very mysterious and spooky which is perfect for the tone of the movie. Especially the lead, he kills it.

There is also an emotional aspect of the film that I feel they didn't use or portray in the best way. It tends to be overlooked and is completely run over by the suspense. As for the suspense itself, they build it very well right up to the end, but finish in a hurried manner (I was like is this all? )

In the end it is undoubtedly an edge of the seat thriller, but when you think of it you feel like you've seen several movies which are similar.
