World on Fire (2019)
They can't get anything right.
So, I watched s2 episode 1 last night and frankly it's pretty obvious those involved in making this series have absolutely no idea how anything occurred in World War II. Some of the errors in season 1 could be overlooked with some amusement and put down to tv dramatisation editing. Like not showing how a young sailor who escaped Paris made it to Spain to get back to England, cos in 1940 I'm pretty sure you didn't just hop on a bus, asking for one way to Andorra.
But the sheer ignorance or was it dismissal by the writers etc to ignoring blackout, during an air raid really takes it to a new level. The disdain this shows for the real lives of those living during the Second World War is insulting.
The Wrong Trousers (1993)
Claymation and comedy genius
Wallace and Gromit's finest adventure.
Yes the story is outlandish, but you've got a penguin stealing a diamond only to be stopped by a dog on a model railway, what do you expect? This was never going to be The Godfather. But what better way to enjoy a laugh.
The model railway scene is one of the greatest animated scenes ever. Could they have got a better voice for Wallace? No, simple as that.
Later films weren't up to the same for me. Maybe that's just my taste. And the full length film was just proof sometimes you can have too much of a good thing. But I still enjoy the glory of The Wrong Trousers.
Real Murders: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery (2015)
When you use a real case, try to get the facts right.
Oh boy, investigating the Wallace murder copy cat.
From a famous English murder case. Seems a shame they couldn't use the complexity of the real case in this version. Yes the husband was convicted, mentioned so many times during the film, in Liverpool by the way. But he was also the very first convicted murderer who had his conviction over turned by the court of appeal. Why Scotland Yard got so many mentions I'm not entirely sure, when the case was investigated by the City of Liverpool police.
Of course a US murder mystery based on real murders just has to mention Lizzie Borden. Oh dear.
Trigger Point: Episode #1.1 (2022)
Well that was.......
We all got excited about a new show from 'the producers of Line of Duty' or however they worded it. AND it's got Vickie McLure in it, with Adrian Lester. Wow.....
Well no actually the first episode was laboured. Trying to add tension to the storyline just seemed to make the thing drag on. The thing with the snips? I mean what was that about. Oh could they have tried any harder to tell us it was a hot June day?
There's obviously something bigger going on, that's to be expected. However they didn't help matters by ending episode 1 the way they did. I assume that was in an attempt to make me tune in next week. Sorry it had lost me by then.
It would seem silly to claim there were obvious mistakes in police procedures and bomb disposal techniques, as I know very little of either, but some of the stuff on screen made me think 'they wouldn't do that, would they?'. In TVland at least try to convince the audience the show is authentic.
Not for me, maybe when it's had it's run it might be worth a binge, but on the first episode I think not.
The War of the Worlds (2019)
Diabolical Abuse of H.G. Wells classic
This is no an adaptation of War of The Worlds. It is theft of the title, the tripods and some of the characters.
I seriously wish there were negative ratings.
My favourite book since I was a boy has been abused by this interpretation. Thank you BBC for breaking the heart of a 9 year old boy.
