The Office: Scott's Tots (2009)
Poor Erin
A lot of people think that this episode is cringe worthy. It is. But, for me, what I find the most cringe worthy is how Michael treats Erin. At least, he's not mean to the kids, he feels sorry about his empty promise. But Ellie Kemper's face when Michael say "I miss Pam", her reaction is worthy of an Emmy. And later, when Michael says to her that she does a great job, the way her face lits up : wow! Ellie's acting is so real. After Steve Carrell, she's my favorite actress on the show. She is dumb but realistically, not like Kevin. Ellie Kemper is a fantastic actress.
The Owl and the Pussycat (1970)
Barbra yells throughout
I watched it yesterday on Amazon. Barbra yells three quarter of the time at the top of her lungs. Her characterization lacks any sense of reality. The other quarter of the time, she plays cutesy to the camera. Barbra was a great singer but not a good actress. You can feel that she is more concerned about the way she looks than about reality. Siegel tries his best but it's hard to believe that his character would be attracted to such an obnoxious girl. With all her power, why didn't Barbra asked to cut all those homophobic insults? They don't even make sense and it makes her character highly unlikable. Those insults are a lame and lousy attempt at inciting laughter but it comes off as easy and cheap tricks. Barbra defines herself as an actress who sings. No, she's a singer who thinks she can act.
