perfect match between Africa and Denmark

Warning: Spoilers
Eventually the great winner of the movie is Anton, the father of the Elias. And this is the main message the movie carries on. As i was over and over involved into the movie I was asking myself what is between the 2 different behaviors, getting revenge or adopting a more peaceful approach, the most successful one. And that is a question that recurs often in my life and I answered myself that I am towards a more peaceful approach as well. Or well I guess it may not really be if not entirely about this, at least surely not only about that. Indeed as Anton gives Bigmen to the angry crowd, there it is a successive development to the peaceful approach. And there I thought that there may be a natural order of the things, whereby they are settled, even if that may assume a more violent aspect. But maybe there is a sound and valid reason for that. And I found an enlightening explanation that is consistent with a sort of red line, linking or better, going beyond the mere juxtaposition between the 2 behaviors, getting revenge or answering with the other cheek. And that enlightening explanation lies in Anton's person. He, regardless the situation, the persons involved, the possible consequences of his actions, well he did what was the most fitting with his inner, personal "rules of living", rules is not an appropriate word according to me in this occasion, but I mean by that that there are certain values he believes in and that those guide him through life and his actions.

And these values are those that he attempted to teach to the 3 kids when he went to visit the violent man working with the cars. Alongside a peaceful approach, his utter dedication to his job, meant as saving life, again regardless the persons involved, or what they did. Exactly as with his peaceful approach, regardless what the other person did to him. And also the fact that he kicks Bigman out of the camp is linked with him following his inner personality, with him doing what he feels like. So offending that woman, and thus touching his life-mission, saving people, plus profoundly disrespecting her, these inner values are what prompted in him that harsh reaction. Which is thus not to be linked with a desire of revenge. Was it revenge he would have not hailed Bigman.

And well these 2 opposite are finely and wisely represented by the 2 main characters: Christian is the blind desire of revenge and Elias the peaceful approach, however both with some lacks: Christian is blind in it and Elias passively suffer bully ism, leading this to a likely inner sufferings, not that it's his fault to suffer bully's but well a reaction may be good, in order not to suffer that, maybe well surely not as strong as Christian's (even if successful, at least in that case, but proved to be wrong with the violent man, for instance, OK it was much bigger, but the concept behind was the same, a great reaction). What anyway leads Christian in his desire of revenge is his inner pain, his inner anger, and resentment towards the father, so he channels unsuccessfully such issues through others, with that feeling of revenge. So what will go over these 2 approaches is indeed represented by Anton, the person that wisely adopt a peaceful approach, obtains respect and goes thus further. And all these three situations are indeed represented by the three characters. And Anton is the one that could calm down Christian.

So that's the profound aspect that is the core of the movie. And the allegories in the movie, calling the profoundity of the issues are really superb. So these 3 behaviors, plus the combination between Africa and Denmark was really successful and that gave us the extent to which Anton's approach is successful, regardless facing a crazy boss of African mercenaries or some violent man in his town.

All in all the movie was really well done, and well very well acted. Christian's actor is really good.

Well I gave this movie a 9, totally deserved that. And plus there are many other interesting things in the movie. Really a profound movie. And the message carried is so clear and successful, Really a movie that makes u think and reflect, about also how to conduct your life. It indeed made me proud of thinking that I adopt a peaceful approach but also more with Anton's approach, one for which, you may be peaceful but the knowledge of being right, of being on the side of the good, gives you so much power that no punch, no slap would ever give you. Because once you'll take action, that action will be so strong in its consequences that the person that was treating you bad, won't even have the chance to reply. And that is exactly what happened to me recently and it's very very similar to when Anton kicked out of the camp big man. Really.

The Mist (2007)
1/10
The fist
22 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
not the mist, the fist...i first gave it a 4, even tho i wanted to rate with a 1, then i saw many 1 so i thought myself, let's give this "movie" what i wanted to give. anyway I'm seriously thinking that maybe we should contact the staff because how could it get 7,4? there must be some mistakes. especially by seeing that there are many 1, so what's that? others voted 10.

anyway movie is awful for plenty of reason: -guy's acting is awful: stresses 2 much sadness, anger, worry mood. -children: i usually never had anything against children acting, also because they are children, but this boy i have to say is even more awful than the father: every time crying, like he's 3 rs old, but he was let's say 7, so they over put sadness and desperation feelings on his character with a grotesque and really annoying results. - the overall acting crew: awful. 2 much exaggerating the feeling of fear when faced with the "monsters". - the monsters: if i was there id be probably prone to play with them rather than being scared by. honestly, i don't know who drew them, probably the very same boy, but they look like children toys, they are even funny. plus it was 2007, so not the 90s, and special effects are awful. and the monster idea, concept is so poor, we saw tentacles anywhere else come on. and then there is no link between the fog and this kind of monster. as i read the plot and read of "creatures", i figured out of something like zombies, so something like a virus attacking people, converting thus to some horrible creatures, zombie- like. but here, why for god sake should an octopus come out of a fog? OK its fiction, but when it is so unreal, it gets more the shapes of comics, falling into a grotesque result. exactly like the acting main form.

So i don't know what genial mind is behind this, who drew the monsters, who wrote the stenography (sounds very much copied by Romero's zombie movie when they are trapped into a mall, now that is a horror movie!), but they are all linked by this sort of really really annoying over exaggerating: in the acting, in the feelings bad express by indeed the acting, so even the feelings get to be grotesque, even if at first, may be sharable (everybody would be scared in such a situation, but due to the also unreal, prone to comics, again grotesque, shape of the monster, we do not see ourselves in such a situation, too wrongly unreal, too grotesque, as i said:id rather play with them rather than fight them, at first glance), in the monsters, even the final was so trivial, obvious and foreseeable. and what surprises me the most is that the director directer 2 amazing movies, they are amongst my fa vs, on the top 10: the thing redemption and the green mile. so horror is probably not his field or that time he had something else in his mind. anyway surely he wasn't surrounded by valid collaborators, because if i was there, i would have told him: what the f*@ are you doing?? now relax, sit on the director's chair (that classic one with director on it) take some beer, even smoke something, and let me clear up this mess and let's get to some good insight and thus result...no really.y this movie is an insult to cinema, to acting, and to his to previous masterpieces (for me they indeed are), they are an insult to his mind. of course this movie doesn't change the esteem i have for him, and the great app reaction and really deep love for those 2 movies, but this "movie" is clearly an insult to them. this movie's film should be burned, and the movie deleted from the web and from our minds, with the MIB machine: OK, now look at this light: you never watched this movie, this movie never existed. we would do a favor ourselves and to him. for head be remembered only for those 2 movies, not something like this, anyway i remember him for those 2, but well whatever about this, as i said, ill just think that period he had something else, or anyway his reasons to do this...cheers

This movie left me...I don't' know how...
15 November 2013
This movie disturbed me. Just finished it now, I'm left with a feeling of unease, probably even at myself. I feel like disgusted. I don't' know maybe the movie is successful to the extent to which I feel kind of close to the serial killer. Not approving what he does, but the really deep inside perspective is what puts you alongside the serial killer. And what is successful is the well done mix of elements that puts the viewer (or at least me) close to Chris. So, a story only focused on the serial killer would have prompted harsher condemnations of him. But here we have first of all a new perspective on the serial killer: victim and torturer. And this is explained while she looks on internet for information about serial killer and also at the end, as it is written that serial killers are people suffering of a huge pain and killing is the only way to them to express this pain. Beyond this new perspective (serial killers are always depicted as the evil on mass-media), her presence. So, first of all, her physical appearance: very beautiful but of a normal beauty, baby-face and like an angel (also his face is extremely fresh and innocent, as he smiles - she says to he's got a teenager smile). So, she further smooth up the presence of the serial killer. Plus her love, plus the great complicity between the two. And then also their wish of freedom, problems with the adult world generally, and both of them with their parents. Then and above all, her understanding of him, so this gives the viewer the new perspective, that one of pain. So, I'm 27 years old, nearly their age, and I am undertaking a route of personal freedom, emancipation and self realisation, so the movie had a grab on me for these reasons. And that is why the figure of the serial killer doesn't pop up as violently as if it was all focused on it. A viewer with characteristics as I do, recognizes him/herself in them, in their wish of love, in their love, actually pure and untouched by society, family and so on. But beyond this, the drama of the serial killer stays behind and eventually comes out with all its strenght. So, the two are eventually naked, out of their wish of freedom, their love, their parental Independence. He hasn't got anymore his self-confidence, so you can see him crying (even if he said during the movie already that he had fear), and she too. So the big message the movie aims at transmitting (or one of them) is that serial killers can be watched from another perspective, for how hard this can reasonably and comprehensively be, which is not a justification, but a mere understanding. And maybe a better understanding can lead us to help them, and in turn help the entire humanity. So what was lying behind the whole movie (his sickness, fear and pain) exploded at the end of the movie, with his arrest and further exploded with her face crying. The face of somebody who understood (even if her understanding made her guilty too, but understanding doesn't entail agreeing, as I said before) the behind-situation of a serial killer, crying for him. And we have to look at this from her perspective, without judging if she was sick as well (probably she was) or not. Just the perspective offered by somebody crying for a serial killer. Something totally new, that stays at the opposite than the usual, short-term, limited hate for serial killers.
