Did I watch the same thing as the other reviewers?
30 May 2022
I wasn't even following when these new Star Wars shows were going to come out or anything, so this was a nice surprise that just showed up.

I like the original Star Wars trilogy. I like The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

When I played the first episode, I keep my expectations low because I didn't know anything about it. Maybe that's why I was so delighted by it.

I really don't understand why most of the reviews on here are so bad. I'm going to put that down to incels and such that don't like that it was directed by a woman or something. Or maybe just the fact that it can never live up to everyone's expectations.

Also: Don't like the prequels? The first episode has a nicely cut summary of the prequels that actually makes a compelling story.

War of the Worlds (2019– )

Started off really interesting
6 June 2020
The characters seemed poorly written, which made them infuriatingly annoying at times, so I really couldn't get that into their stories. That just left the sci-fi side of things, which was lacking.

I didn't mind the slow pace or lack of big effects. It touched on some interesting ideas, but ultimately failed to follow through. And the ending... If I had rolled my eyes any further, I'd be looking down my own optical nerve. It wasn't clear. And it wasn't clear about whether is was supposed to be clear or not. I noticed the "clue", but I don't remember much about it because it was only brought up once at the beginning and never mentioned again. Or maybe it was, but I didn't pay attention because I was being bored to death by someone's backstory when it happened.

If there's supposed to be a second season, then I guess the ending isn't as bad and hope it improves.

After 3 episodes, it's growing on me.

As a sci-fi nerd, I was disappointed at first, because it's much more comedy soap opera than sci-fi. But I really like Hugh Laurie and some of the other actors enough that I kept watching. I think too many people went in expecting another Orville or something. Can't wait for the next episode...

Not true to the original comic books, apparently...
5 November 2019
Much like Legion, this is the only other comic book superhero inspired show that I genuinely look forward to watching. Maybe it's not faithful to the original source material. Good, because that stuff just never appealed to me.

Of course, there are the usual MRA alt-right incel ding-a-lings ranting on about how it's full of liberal propaganda. And they're right. But that's OK with me because I happen to agree with its message. That's what art is for.

An interesting story. Excellent cinematography. Fresh and moody soundtrack (partial credit to Trent Reznor). Assuming you're not a man-child, what's not to like here?

Batwoman (2019–2022)

Suffers from fever-dream soundtrack and editing
8 October 2019
This is a bad TV show. Many of the ding-a-lings leaving reviews here are just incels upset that there is a woman replacing their precious Batman etc. But forget all that. It's simply a bad TV show. You can tell, because like many bad TV shows, there is constant background music. It's like being in a fever-dream or under the influence of some drug. Why do people still edit TV shows like this? Do they really think it's better this way or are they trying to make up for the lacklustre product they ended up with?

Naive and dramatic, with a healthy dose of fantasy
27 September 2018
A very simplistic and naive view of a complex subject. Most of the people don't seem to understand the subject they're talking about. They come across as hobbyists, rather than experts if their field. Those that do show some understanding are taken out of context to make things dramatic. Quinto would have experienced a more enlightened view of the subject with a simple post to any half decent internet forum followed up with more time doing some research before ever picking up the camera.

Iron Fist (2017–2018)

Pleasantly surprised.
5 April 2017
Given all the ratings and reviews, I had to question my own judgment about this show. Maybe it's because I've never heard of Iron Fist before, or heard anything about the TV show. It just appeared, and I watched it with low expectations (not a fan of comic marital art type stuff, and it has a corny title). It was a lot better that I thought it was going to be. I enjoyed it a lot. As for the apparent lack of character development, isn't that what season 2 is about? Did some people not watch the end of the last episode?

MacGyver (2016–2021)

A truly sad state of affairs
10 October 2016
This muppet couldn't even "macgyver" a coat-hanger out of number 8 wire. A truly sad example of our times. I'd like to see this numpty go up against Mr. Robot. The original was a true hacker. This guy is a script kiddie, in both sense of the words.

When I was a kid, I used to put my hands over my eyes and peak through the cracks when there was a really scary part (such as the imperial probe droid at the start of The Empire Strikes Back). This TV show isn't scary, but I still advice you to do the same thing (throughout the whole show).

KILL -9

PS: Important notes: IMDb require quantity over quality. Extra pointless lines added to this post, just like a rebooted MacGyver script.

The Cavern (III) (2005)

A lot of screaming and panicking, some jerky camera movements, and that's about it.
26 October 2006
What a shocker. For starters, I couldn't stand the constant screaming and noisy panicking all the time. It didn't make me scared, horrified, or make me sympathetic towards the characters; it was simply annoying. The jerky camera movements were also annoying. The plot was the same as pretty much every other cheap horror. There was a few pathetic attempts to give the characters some depth, but it didn't really work into the rest of the plot. And then there's the ending. I'm still not really sure what to make of it. I guess it was supposed to be clever twist, then shed some light on the situation, but it was just stupid.

The case had a couple of those little award winner/nominations symbols on it, so I figured it couldn't be too bad. I was wrong. If you see it, you should probably just leave it on the shelf.
