V-Wars: Bloody but Unbow'd (2019)
Don't Listen To The Other Reviews
Honestly, I feel like all the other reviewers are whiny little twits. It's a damn TV series! Things are not going to be perfect. Things are not going to be totally realistic. This is a fantasy series for goodness sake! As far as a first season goes, this one was pretty good. There was suspense, drama, action, some "happy fun time." You could somewhat tell that the cast was still getting used to acting together, which is why I only gave this series nine stars. Overall, this is a good watch. Personally, I don't let reviews determine whether or not I watch a movie or a TV show. If you're interested in watching it, WATCH IT!
The Flash: Duet (2017)
I Love Musical Episodes!
I love when TV shows have a musical episode. I thought the singing was really good. I absolutely loved the ending. I think too many people are hating on this episode. I think it did fit in to the storyline of The Flash. Barry made realizations. Kara made realizations. In the end, Kara and Mon-El admitted they loved one another. Barry and Iris admitted they loved one another. Barry and Iris are engaged again! I loved the episode.
Torchwood (2006)
Hard to Get Into...
Truth be told, I haven't watched the Doctor Who series, so I'm not sure if that show is similar to Torchwood. I do know that Torchwood is a spin-off. That being said, I watched the first season and the fourth season. A few episodes into the second season, I stopped watching because it was boring. A few of the episodes made me wonder if I skipped an episode in between. I'm really not sure how else I can explain why I didn't enjoy the entire series.
Redeeming factor: Miracle Day! I was hooked after the first episode. I already loved John Barrowman but adding Alexa Havins, Mekhi Phifer, and Bill Pullman to the cast was gold. The plot was better than the previous seasons (mind you, I skipped most of season two and all of season three). I'm glad I sucked it up and watched the final season.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life (2016)
**Spoilers Included** Loved It Except...
I came late to the game in terms of watching the series and falling in love with it. So late, in fact, that the series was already off air. I took to watching it on Netflix about two years ago when I was bed-ridden due to surgery. Nevertheless, I fell in love with the characters and most of the story lines.
When the original series ended, it left a lot of questions for die- hard fans. My main questions were: "What will happen with Luke and Lorelai?" and "What's next for Rory?" This revival answered those questions, but it also added new questions. Before I get to those, I will touch on what I loved about the revival.
Can I just say how much I missed the mother/daughter banter between Lorelai and Rory? It was just like old times right from the beginning. Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel settled right back into their roles with ease. **SPOILER** I was really upset with Lorelai's reaction to Rory writing a book about them. I've always seen Lorelai as a huge supporter of Rory's. I definitely didn't expect her reaction. It really did remind me of Lorelai and Emily. I was happy to see mother and daughter make up by the end of the mini-series though. I'm not sure I could have handled them being on the outs.
**SPOILER** FINALLY!!! Luke and Lorelai tie the knot!!! This has been a LONG time coming. I was worried for a while that the writers would break our hearts by splitting them up again. I would have been so mad! It all worked out in the end. I also liked how they ended up kind of eloping in the end. Plus, what Kirk did was gorgeous!
I was thoroughly happy with how the writers paid tribute to Edward Hermann in each episode. Each of the Gilmore women did a great job with expressing their grief in their own way. Emily's transformation was the greatest, in my opinion. She still had her moments, but losing Richard brought out a different side of her I rather enjoyed.
**SPOILER** Now, for my least favorite part of the revival: The end! I had a pretty good idea Rory was pregnant based on her conversation with her father. At first, I questioned if she got knocked up by Logan or her Wookiee one-night stand. However, the last person she had sex with was Logan. I couldn't help but notice the parallels between Rory and Lorelai's love lives. Lorelai has the whole Chris/Luke love triangle going, and Rory had the whole Jess/Logan one going. Mind you, Rory isn't 16 and pregnant, she's 32 and pregnant. I personally didn't want to see her with Logan or Dean. Jess, on the other hand, was who I was rooting for. What upset me about this ending is that Rory didn't end up with anyone. She was just pregnant. No Jess. No Logan. No Paul (seriously, what was the point of him??).
The ending leaves me still wondering, "What's next for Rory?" Was this revival Netflix's way to see if there's still interest for this series? Is there maybe a spin-off in our future? If so, I hope they don't make it too much like the original series.
