I wanted to like this, but like so many other older movies getting sequels now, it sucked. Sequels to many movies weren't made for a reason; because it was a standalone movie. Beetlejuice is the latest victim in this trend. I counted at least seven different storylines in this movie, leaving it with no clear story to tell. It's like a bunch of writers all wrote their own version of the movie and someone else said "Yeah, we'll use it all!". The result is a clunky, jumbled mess that had me cringing at several points. A music number that seemed to go on for 10 minutes just hammered home the point that this movie should not have happened. Beetlejuice was an awesome movie, but this really tainted its legacy.
This story was as tired as Nick Fury. I was hoping to see something along similar lines as Captain America Winter Soldier. Nope. I kept hoping for something in this story to spark. It never did. This is what happens when you try to retcon your cinematic world's history. Nothing flows as if it were natural, because so many things are undoing or devaluing what took place before. The only characters that I found interesting were killed off. I kept waiting for some type of emotional payout for those deaths, but they were pointless. I was also very bothered by the poor quality of the Skrulls. They were well done in Captain Marvel, but here they looked like cheap prosthetics.

I feel like the quality of Marvel Studios movies are steadily decreasing. This movie turns Thor into a joke. While there are some serious moments, the rest of the movie might as well have been written for young children. I love Taika Watiti, but I feel like someone should have reined him in on this movie with the question of 'really?' That's what you want to do in this scene? So your audience is five years old?
