Toontown Kids (1994)
Best Local Station TV Show of My Youth!
This was a show I grew up watching as a kid in the 90's. The premise is that it was filmed entirely at Disneyland with the setting of Toontown as its' main focus. The Toontown section of Disneyland was brand new at the time this show first aired so what better way to sponsor it than as a TV show. The hosts of the show are a young man and woman who do activities in Toontown or around the Disneyland park. In between the segments would be a a Disney animated short film usually related to the subject of the show. I don't know what the filming schedule was like for this show, but the film crew must of manage their schedule with the theme park's hours as most of the episodes were in the middle of the day. I work for California Adventure, and have yet to find any piece of history this show might of left behind at the park or find someone who knew about the filming of the show at the time. For many years I completely forgotten about the title of the show and always refer to it as "Mickey's Toontown" when it was simply titled as "Toontown Kids". Thanks to the internet and the "Toontown" part of the title I was able to rediscover this show and was glad it wasn't the case of the Mandela effect. Because this show only aired on the KCLA station, only California citizens knew of the show at the time. But since it only aired on local stations it meant that it had a little exposure to the world. There are very few websites that include info on the episodes. It's uncertain if the episodes exist at the KCLA's film vault or the Disney TV film vault. I want to believe that this show exists in its entirety, otherwise it may forever be lost in time. A pity cause this show is an important piece of Disney nostalgia and I hope one day I can finally relive the memories this show provided.
Dudley Moore & Steve Gordon are rolling in their own graves.
In the original Arthur it was about an alcoholic millionaire with a youthful spirit and knows how to make others laugh. He ends up with a hard decision to either agree to marry a woman in a prearranged marriage and keep his fortune, or don't marry the woman and have his money cut off. The entire movie was filled with clever humor, great characters, and a well written script that made it a classic from the 80's. 30 years later, they decided to remake it only to borrow the plot and throw out every thing out the window.
When it comes to remakes, they either do as well as the original, or it falls flat and is viewed as being inferior to the older version. The first minute watching it was a real intolerance and that's never a good thing if I don't enjoy the film right away. I am going to examine the changes they made to the characters, because I never felt this ashamed towards a remake in my whole life! First let's talk about Arthur in this remake, in the original he was short stature, likes to make jokes that do make you at least chuckle and is a real pleasure to have at any party if he existed in real life. The remake's Arthur is nothing compared to the one portrayed by Dudley Moore. Russell Brand does no justice to the role, he is way too tall, was never funny, and was way too obnoxious to be likable in anyone's standards. Could they not of casted a shorter actor for the part? Martin Freeman would of been a better choice, he had the right height and would of done the part of Arthur justice. Russell on the other hand made Arthur look like someone who requires medication to settle down. I know Arthur was meant to be drunk, but at least the original Arthur was at a steady level when intoxicated. This Arthur does stunts that look like they belong in a slapstick comedy. There was no advise on how Russell could of done differently for the part, he was just the wrong choice to start with. The moment he was casted, the film was already ruined.
Now to talk about Hobson, who was the most drastically changed character for this remake. In the original Hobson was a male butler, in this film Hobson is a female nanny. The sex change on the character isn't the issue, its the idea of Arthur having a nanny to take care of him. He's like about 30, so having a nanny still take care of you at that age makes Arthur look more pathetic. Hobson in the original was perfect the way he was, if the character isn't broken don't fix it! There was a great chemistry between Hobson & Arthur in the original because despite him not being keen on Arthur's behavior, he does care for him and provided good support. In this film you do see moments between Arthur and his now female nanny, but it doesn't feel right to me. It doesn't feel realistic, imagine if Bruce Wayne had a nanny instead of Alfred for a butler? Would you say that would be normal or that Bruce has personal issues? I'm sure we can all agree that having a butler is more cool than having a nanny. Even Lara Croft had a butler for crying out loud!
Now for the discussion on one more character that is wrong for this remake? Remember how Arthur fell in love with the spunky Linda Marolla in the original? Well she's no where to be found in this remake. They had the nerve to replace her with a woman who is no where as likable as Linda: Naomi Quinn. She is a typical cliché love interest found in every average chick flick. She doesn't even try to be Linda's replacement, because of how much of an opposite she is. The romance between her and Arthur was so unreal that I would have a hard time believing any woman in real life would find the remake's Arthur to be "attractive". Arthur & Linda's relationship was better in the original because that Arthur would be able to attract women compared to the remake's example.
In conclusion, this remake is disgusting and has no right to be titled Arthur at all. Cause Russell Brand made Arthur an unlovable dolt who you wish you're able to beat up in a back alley until he is bruised all over and has to eat throw a straw for one month. The director turn it into a mediocre chick flick which it isn't. If you don't understand the concept of the original then you have a box office bomb waiting to blow up. The actors weren't doing their best at all and not a single one of them looked like they were enjoying their performances. I was glad that the film receive two Razzie nominations for worst actor and remake though it would of been awesome if the film won either category. The fact the film only made 30 million at the box office is proof that the public knew it was a lost cause to begin with. I just pray that will mean there will be no remake to Arthur 2 cause I'd hate to see how they'd mess up Fairchild in a remake. If you haven't seen the original, check it out, because it worth your time as oppose to this abomination that will rot into obscurity for the greater good of mankind.
The Angry Video Game Nerd (2004)
My personal favorite Internet show.
There's a ton of internet shows in this day in age cause anyone can make their own show if they have a web cam and have a good idea that will draw in an audience. This show was one of the earlier made for internet shows dating as far back as when Youtube was first established. I never heard of it until five years after it was released to the public. My earliest exposure was from watching another show called Nostalgia Critic and after his rants of this show also being about an angry reviewer I decided to give it a shot. And man I tell ya, after watching episode 1 I can't get enough of it.
The show is about an obsess gamer who owns almost every single game known to man including every single game system from the popular ones to the more obscure ones. He's only known as "The Nerd" cause he wears glasses, has a pocket protector, and a white button shirt all the needed material to make him resemble a typical nerd. The earlier episodes he was known as the Angry Nintendo Nerd, but later on the title was changed to Video Game so that way he won't receive any possible lawsuit and to not limit himself to just Nintendo.
The plot in each episode involves the Nerd reviewing games that are either hard, unusual, or just plain bad. To make playing the games more tolerable he would either make fun of the games or blurt out harsh profanity. This is one of the reasons I find this show amusing cause I can relate to the Nerd's situation cause even I have had my fair share of playing frustrating games. The earlier episodes are simple but also funny, the series picks up by the time he does his first Halloween related episodes which is when the series starts to resemble the way it does into the later episodes.
The best episodes in my opinion are the ones where the Nerd reviews the very obscure game systems, the unlicensed games, and games you wouldn't think exist. There's also occasions when he has a certain guest star involved with his reviews. Sometimes its a friend of his other times it be other celebrities whether their famous from the internet or something else. After being exposed to this series I find myself quoting the Nerd almost every time I talk about video games.
So in short, if you're a video game fan this series is a must see. Cause if you don't care much for video games, then I can't say you'll enjoy it cause 90% of the series talks about video games. You may of read some harsh comments about the show or the actor of play the Nerd. But all I can say is ignore them like I do cause this is an awesome show. Plus James Rolfe who plays the Nerd is really cool, after watching the other shows, shorts, & videos he's done on his official website. If I had to choose a personal favorite series on the internet, this is it.
The Irate Gamer (2007)
Worst video game review series ever.
After hearing negative comments on how bad Irate Gamer is, I decided to watch his first episode. After that I now understand why everyone hates this show so much. It's so bad, that I have no interest in watching his other reviews if he couldn't live up to his title.
It's been noted by other people, but I like to say it in my own words. Chris Bores is basically someone who has watched Angry Video Game Nerd and tries to do his own version of the show which falls flat on the floor. If he was going to do his own internet show on reviewing games, he'd have to find his own image and theme, not steal the identity of another successful series.
He's way too boring, Chris Bores spends no time in coming up with jokes that work excellent. He makes James Rolfe look like Robin Williams, who is a natural in throwing out a good joke and punch line. Chris is one of those guys who would use a joke that seems funny to him but to others it causes groaning and annoyance. If he was a stand up comedian, he'd already get bombard by trash on the stage. I can say a lot of things that I would rather watch than watch Chris Bores, but that would make this review too long.
The way he reviews his games are bland and the skits he comes up with are something a kid would come up with. Take his review on the NES Back to the Future game, his bee joke was lame and the part where he goes back to the year 1987 had no effort shown what so ever. I got too distracted by the flat screen computer monitor and modern wireless home-phone, when it was meant to be 1987 not the mid 2000s. Angry Video Game Nerd however, reviewed the same game not once but twice, and delivered the jokes perfectly. Plus Nerd spends a lot of time coming up with his skits for his own series. For Irate Gamer, I can't imagine him doing that well in school if he fails to do well with his projects.
While I do know that the first Angry Video Game Nerd episodes were simple, except Jame Rolf got better as he progressed further with his series. Chris Bores however never has improved, and I could care less if he ever does. If you want to watch a good internet show about an angry gamer playing bad or challenging games, Angry Video Game Nerd is the right show for you. Irate Gamer is not only a disgrace, it's also managed to be in the same level as one of those low budget Turkish films that try to copy an American film. So if you're curious to watch Irate Gamer, do so with caution cause don't blame me if you keep falling asleep.
William's Doll (1981)
Disturbing and lacks a good moral.
I only came across this short cause it was shown on Rifftrax. Mike, Kevin, & Bill were able to make it a little funny, but the short itself isn't a walk in the park. It has to do with a boy who feels wonderful every time he hold a doll in his arms. This proves to be a problem towards his single father, especially when the boy's grandfather understands his grandson's desires and buys him a doll that's no where near suitable for a boy to own.
I don't find this short to be watchable, cause I feel this short film lacks a good moral towards kids with unusual desires. If this short was meant to not have a moral then it's a really weak story. I'm only left to imagine how a kid owning a doll will turn out when he gets older. I can't imagine anyone's grandfather resorting to buying their own grandkid something that's no for boys. Anyways it's a public domain short so it's easy to find. If you do watch it don't say I don't warn you about it.
Hikari sentai Masukuman (1987)
Maskman is about a group of five young people who have martial arts skills were chosen by a scientist/sage who teaches them how to use their aura power which can only be accomplish by certain people. The five young people master their aura power and became the Maskman team. Their objective is to defeat the Tube Empire, an underground kingdom that plans to block the sun and turn Earth into a cold dark place for their desire to live above ground.
This Super Sentai was the first series for each ranger to have a vehicle of their own to use to combine into a big robot. The story is fun to watch with some great characters to know. I also adore the Yellow Ranger more than the Pink Ranger. But that's just my opinion. Almost an average Super Sentai, but still worth watching.
3 dev adam (1973)
Spider-Man of Turkey?
I've heard a lot about this movie, and it's one of those you'd have to watch it to believe, cause what I'm about to describe sounds baffling for a movie like this to exist.
Spider Man who was known as a hero in America is portrayed as a villain in this movie. In a poorly designed costume with no eye pieces to cover his actual eyes. The one thing that makes this Spider-Man look unusual is his large eye lashes. I don't think Spider Man has ever been depicted that way in any comic from my knowledge. Anyways Spider Man is causing crime in Turkey so Captain America and Santos(yes as in the wrestler) came to Turkey to defeat him.
Not a lot to say about it other than it's unusual and low budget. Every the opening of the movie was low budget. The one thing I'd love to know is does Spider-Man have a good reputation in Turkey or is this how people see Spider Man in Turkey. I don't know that answer for sure. Cause I wonder if the Director or writer of this movie have anything against Spider-Man. No one knows for sure, so all I could do is speculate that the director and writer hated him so much they decided to make a movie to show every one in Turkey how horrible he is. But why's Captain America portray as good and not Spider Man. They're from the same comic company. While Santos was thrown in cause he's a big celebrity in the country of Turkey.
For die hard Spider-Man fans this is a laugh riot and to non fans of Spider-Man this is still funny to watch.
Korkusuz Korkak (1979)
One of the better Turkish films.
I've seen a couple of these movies made from Turkey, and I think this was one of the better ones to watch from the country. A lot of the other ones are either copies of already existing properties or really low budget production. This one I think is low budget, but they knew what they were making cause the story is about this office dullard who assumes he has 6 months to live so he changes his employee status at work and risks his life by carrying around a time bomb and play Russian Roulette.
I only watch this in Turkish with no subtitles so I had no idea what all the characters were saying. I only understood most of what is happening. The weirdest parts would have to be the main character urinating in that one guy's potted plant. And the grand opening of a public restroom where over 30 men were eager to use the new urinals and all got in line to use them.
I apologize for this sounding weird, but if I knew a little Turkish, I'd be less confused by this film. If you're looking for a good film from Turkey, then this one is one of the best ones from the country.
Can't sit through it twice.
For there to be a sequel to a Titanic movie that's even worse than Titanic the Animated Movie is really low even for a European cartoon. This makes "The Legend of Titanic" more bearable to watch and that's bad if the writer made something that's even worse.
How to start, well if you don't know this is a sequel to "The Legend of Titanic" which is the one with the giant Octopus. Which makes the other one with the Rapping Dog look like a better movie. And of course they brought back the main characters from the first one. For some reason they wanted to revisit the Titanic which is at the bottom of the Atlanic. While the Prisoner Sharks who actually plotted the sinking of the Titanic in the last one tried to kill off these characters by cutting the life support line of their submarine. After that we see Tentacles the giant octopus the same one who caused the Titanic to sink and ended up saving everyone to redeem himself. He goes to help our friends along with some help. This is when the sequel starts to become unbearable. A group of Atlanteans who take our main characters to Atlantis! And the rest of the movie is just painful to watch.
For Italian animators to mock the Titanic disaster even more is really low and shameful. This not only has the same boring characters it also introduces new characters where you'd have to be on drugs to come up with off beat characters like those. The animation is OK, but the CG effects looked unfinished and unprofessional. The colors and backgrounds feel like something out of a coloring book. And there's plenty of plot holes and errors to notice throughout the movie.
I don't know why the Italians kept mocking the Titanic, but to make three movies about it is just an abomination. I've yet to find an Italian cartoon movie that is great. But so far these Titanic movies are the only ones and they are so far the worse Italian animated films I've ever watched.
Chikyu sentai Fiveman (1990)
Sentai Rangers with Sibling Power
A group of siblings were separated from their parents while fleeing from an imperial alien army that has a goal to destroy 1000 planets to make their deity ruler immortal. The siblings were taken to earth with the family robot who ends up taking care of them. Over the course of at least a decade, the siblings became teachers for an elementary school as a way to go through civilian life. While in reality they were secretly trained by their guardian robot to become Earth's defense against the same imperial army that forced them to separate from their own parents. In order for them to be reunited with their parents, they must defeat the alien army before it succeeds in making Earth the 1000th destroyed planet.
For being the first Super Sentai series of the 90s, it has a good story. Not masterful, but fairly watchable. What separates this from the other super Sentai shows is that it's the first series were all of the rangers are related to one another. So the bound between them is different from the other Sentai Ranger bounds.
For those who like watching the other Super Sentai shows, will likely to enjoy this series as the story is good, and the female characters are wonderful to know. Especially Five Yellow who is my favorite ranger of this series.
Most morbid Ishimori related TV series.
Based off of a one shot manga created by Shotaro Ishimori, the Skullman is about an urban Japanese city being struck with fear as a mysterious man wearing a skull mask is committing murders of various people who have a connection with one another. A reporter from out of town came to the city to investigate this mystery and learn the identity of the Skullman himself.
I never read the original one shot manga or the sequel that was written by someone else. But this series is based off of the sequel rather than the original. The character designs for this series are close to the same design as Ishimori's art style. While there are elements that'll remind you of Cyborg 009 and Kamen Rider. Like the Skullman rides a motorcycle and his mask is similar to Kamen Rider's and there are at least 4 characters from, Cyborg 009 making cameos in this series too.
Regardless of it being an Ishimori anime, I didn't had the heart to cool it a classic. The appearances of the Black Ghost & Van Boogot were one of the reasons I watched it in the first place cause it's an unofficial prequel to Cyborg 009, except much more morbid. I usually don't mind dark series, but this one was too morbid for my tastes.
If it wasn't Ishimori related then I'd care less about it. But it's still worth checking out, if you know what you're expecting to see. Just don't expect the ending to be a happy one. It's really easy to find and watch on Hulu and Anime News Netowrk. Watch it there before considering buying it.
The Trouble with Women (1959)
Runs dry on the moral of the short.
This is basically a film they made to point out the trouble about male workers have on female workers. Particularly this has to do with a male worker complaining to his boss that their company doesn't need another female employee in their work force. He gives out reasons like the habits, conditions, and situations that go about on the women that work at the company. And at the end the guy was told by his boss, he needs to learn to accept the new employee regardless of what gender that person is. After the short ends, it's suppose to make those who watch it discuss what could of been done for the guy to work out his problem.
The only way I was able to see this short was off of Rifftrax which has the short for 99 cents. I also found it really humorous with Mike, Kevin, & Bill making fun of the engineer company and the employee who has issues towards women being employees of his company.
The only cool thing about this short is it features the same actress who played Mike Teevee's mom in the original Wonka film. This is also her first acting role as well. Other than that this short fails to make a point and is best made fun of from Rifftrax.
Kitty Cleans Up (1949)
Really dull short film.
I would also like to describe it as creepy since the narration that's suppose to be from the girl of this film can really get on your nerves. All the story is that a girl prepares in washing her hands, comb her hair, eat breakfast and go to school with her cat in a cat carrier. She even expresses how her cat cleans like hers. And that's all there is to this film, is just some girl bragging about her cat's cleanliness. It tries too hard to be cute, but it doesn't appeal to me one bit. Cause too much cuteness make me feel uneasy. Plus I doubt no kid would sit through this lousy short.
The only way to watch it is off of Rifftrax's website for 99 cents. Where Mike, Bill, & Kevin made it a little more funny. I give their version a 7 out of 10, while this film a 2 out of 10.
In the Night Kitchen (1987)
What a dream that was.
I remember seeing this in my second grade class about 16 years ago. Didn't re-watch it until recently. Here's what it's about without giving much away. It's a short story that involves a boy dreaming that he's become naked and lands inside a pan of cake batter where three chefs mistaken him for the milk. The boy then goes on an errand of finding milk for the chefs who want to finding baking the cake.
This was created by the same guy who did "Where the Wild Things are" so the art style is the same and has some of the author's trademarks in the story. Compare to Wild Things, I think this story is more bizarre and abstract in so many ways. Course if I had to choose between the two, I would choose Wild Things cause it had more characters than this one.
I don't remember if the video in our class was uncensored or not. Cause for a kids story it depicts full nudity on the young boy featured in the story both book and short alike. Which was one of the many controversial things about this book. I'm not sure if my school even allows this short film to be shown anymore due to that bit being there. It's not intended to be exotic as it's depicted, yet there are people who claim it's not appropriate for kids at all. To me those type of people are over exaggerating on books like this. If they dislike the nudity then adding underwear is the only way to make it G rated.
Anyways, I enjoyed this short as well as the book. I don't know if it could make a good movie, cause it would have to have a good extended story in order to make it a good 90 minutes long. I'd be surprised if it ever does get adapted into a movie considering the reputation it has. If you like Wild Things you might also like the short. To me the bakers are the ones who make it memorable.
Most underrated Muppet related show.
I'm surprised no one has reviewed this show considering it's already 15 years old now. So let me state what I remember of it.
It was a Dr. Seuss related show with the help of the Muppet company creating and supervising the Muppets designed to resemble all of the characters in the Seuss universe. During Season 1 contain entirely original episodes with stories not adapted from any book but feature at least one recognizable character such as The Grinch or Horton the Elephant. While Season 2 was considered a lighter approach to the series with a formula later used for "Bear in the Big Blue House" except with The Cat in the hat as the host.
Why was this series so underrated? I'm wondering the same thing as well. It was either because of the sudden change of format from non-moral story telling to educational story telling. Or it was because it aired on prime-time on Nick when it was more for Nick Jr.
Whatever case, I thought it was a unique thing that happen to Dr. Seuss's books and there will likely won't be another show like this one again.
Denjiman's only movie.
With Battle Fever J being absent of having their own movie, Denjiman had the honor of having their own film. Running at over 30 minutes this film is longer than an episode of Denjiman but too short to think of it as a movie. There's nothing too spectacular about this film other than a Vader Clan monster called Anglur who resembles a giant angler fish. Also possesses no number since this movie is treated as both a spin off and an in between story to the series. If you like the series itself then you'll probably enjoy the story it has. I like how they use a story that wasn't use for the TV series. Cause it's boring if they use a recycled story that we've all seen before. Anyways if you desire to see all Super Sentai films like me then happy hunting.
If you think The Legend of Titanic was bad, well think again.
Like the previous one, except less weird. But that doesn't mean it's any better to watch. Now how should I start this off. Let's start with the story.
Starts off similar like the other one except the mice are introduced later. Instead you meet a huge cast of characters who are all about to be passengers of the Titanic. This includes humans and animal passengers a like. Along with cliché scenes we've already seen from the Cameron Titanic and way too many subplots with a whole bunch of characters that had little appeal for any type of viewer. Sure we still get to see the ship sink except that didn't save the story as we see less casualties than the Cameron version.
I don't know why the Italians tried to make another Titanic Cartoon film. Cause this one has a larger reputation of being all time worst animated movie than it's predecessor. I'm really curious to know what the director think of this film, cause I would totally laugh if he implied that this was going to be a hit. Unfortunately I don't know if any interview exists or not. So all I could do is speculate what went on in the staff member's heads.
Let's talk about the animation, the animation was worst in this one cause compared to the one from 2 years ago. This one looked like it was made in the early 80s rather than the early 2000s. It's like they decided to downgrade the animation to make it cheaper to make. Whatever the case the film is just not eye candy like the previous film.
Now for the characters, all I can say is low originality. Cause all they did was copy already existing characters and put them in the film. You not only get two characters looking like the couple from Titanic, you also get characters from Don Bluth, Disney, & Warner Bros. It's been 10 years since this movie was made and I wonder if this film ever got sued by Cameron, Disney, Bluth, or Warner Bros. cause I doubt they got permission to use their characters likeness for this film. Then again it proves you can get away with copyrighted characters in other countries as long as they don't use the copyrighted names. Like what you find in certain anime.
Let's talk about the script, I doubt the writers put any effort into this film cause you see a lot of unnecessary flashbacks and way too many subplots for an animated film. I was laughing at how unorganized the whole film was, not from the lame jokes it had, but from how the characters had really ignorant lines. Plus the animals really got in the way of the story itself.
Conclusion, I would have to agree with the Nostalgic Critic on this movie. Cause it was a complete insult to the Titanic incident and the ending was so fluffy it would make people think the incident wasn't that bad at all. Historians and teachers will have a field day with this movie. Fans of Cameron's Titanic will be ashame of it. Animation fans of all kind will hate it to death. In fact the only way to enjoy this film is make fun of it as much as possible.
The only accomplishment the writers made for this film is that they prove you can't make an animated movie out of the Titanic incident or make it family friendly. Was this worse than "The Legend of Titanic", that's pretty hard to say cause they both even out on worst animated film of all time.
If you like to watch it, be my guest cause my only advice is be prepared to laugh to death.
La leggenda del Titanic (1999)
Makes no sense at all.
This is basically a Korea/Italy animated production movie on the Titanic incident. At first it seems like it'll be a historical movie for kids to watch. Except the genre of historical doesn't comply to this movie.
I don't know what the director and writers were thinking but they had the nerve to rewrite history by adding less appealing characters, and talking sharks being the cause of the Titanic's sinking. I wouldn't mind a little humor or something that would be appealing for all ages like in a Disney film. Except the choices they made for this film are rather poor. It has a lot of noticeable errors and a script that looked like it was rushed.
The animation is fairly good, except the story was one of the reasons why it was awful. It was as if the Italians who made this thought that re-imaging the story of how the Titanic sank can be a success. Not sure how well it did in Italy, but the reception it got from Americans is not so good. Not when every critic on the internet said really harsh things about this film.
While the title is misleading "The Legend of the Titanic" as if the incident were any similar to the sinking of the continent of Atlantis. Plus the movie can be a bad influence on the kids who watch this and think that was the actual reenactment of the Titanic incident. If you're curious to know how bad it is then check the movie out yourself but be warn that it was torture to get through the first time watching it. I mean, I was confused on how it was made in the first place.
Nelson Tethers: Puzzle Agent (2010)
Something puzzle/mystery fans will enjoy.
You portray Nelson Tethers an FBI agent who's employed at the lowest department of the Bureau which is Puzzle Agency. Nelson's job is sometimes boring as there's little cases that require his assistance in solving hard puzzles. Until he was visited by a mysterious person who left him a message that says "Scoggins" on it. He then got a call from his superior to head to the town of Scoggins, MN to find the missing head of the Eraser Factory. He travels to the small town that is known for erasers and Nordic souvenirs. Upon Nelson's investigation he learns more about the head of the factory and the people who knew him. However he discovers that something is not right about the town he's in. Almost everyone acts suspicious and Nelson keeps seeing some gnomes stalking his presence in town.
This is a really thought out game with a well written story. Plus the suspense will make you want to finish the game to see the ending. The characters are appealing with great voice overs and clever acting. Telltale did a great job with this one as they did with their previous games.
Keep in mind that a sequel is coming up soon. As after playing this game, you'll want more.
Denshi Sentai Denjiman (1980)
Electronic Sentai series.
The Vader Clan has appeared and the only ones who can stop them is the Denjiman team. A team of young people chosen by a robot dog named IC. They're given rings to summon their suits in order to fight as Denjiman with helmets that have all sorts of mechanisms. Everything they need to take out the monsters sent by the Vader Clan that's being ruled by Queen Hedrian.
Like the predecessor, this was produced by Marvel except none of the characters have any connections with any Marvel characters. Like how Miss America was a Sentai version of the Original Miss America. So in other words it's just a regular Sentai series with Marvel stamped on it's credits. The best thing about this Sentai series is it was the first Sentai series to feature the late Machiko Soga who would later be known as Bandora of the fan favorite Zyuranger(Rita Repulsa to Power Ranger fans). So overall it has some good moments and a good cast of actors to please an average Sentai fan.
Chôjû sentai Raibuman (1988)
A Sentai that makes you feel young.
A group of young people are students of an advance science academy located on an island off coast of Japan that is made up of Japanese and other ethnic groups who all want to major in science and get to be on board a space station that's being plan to be launched from the academy. Three students however have betray the academy and went to work for Professor Bias a super genius who believes in no one but himself and looks upon Earth in his own space station. He orders the three renegade students to attack the Academy island. During the aftermath three students survived and use their new ranger suits to fight off their former friends. Along with the other threats that Bias has thrown upon them including an army of android soldiers called Jimmers and Brain Beasts. With the help of an android name Colon and a legion of Mechas to guide our young heroes, they will have what it takes to take down Bias and prevent him from taking over the world.
This is a really fun Sentai series in which I enjoyed a lot. Like most of the previous ones this one had a cast of memorable characters including Colon possibly my first favorite robot from a Sentai series Alpha of Power Rangers has nothing on her that's for sure.
If you like the previous ones then this one is a must cause it was known for being the 10th Anniversary Sentai Series.
More Thumbelina than an Ice Cream Bunny movie.
Barry Mahon must not have put enough money aside to make this movie cause the story of Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny is a lot shorter than it seems. It starts with the elves discovering that the reindeer are back at the north pole with out Santa or his sleigh. Santa is struck in Florida where his sleigh is suck in the sand and calls out to some local kids to help him out. So that way he can fulfill his duties in delivering presents.
The story is rather odd for an independent film, plus it's unorganized story makes the 1959 Santa Claus film look like a classic. Cause there's no logic in this film at all. Like how the Sleigh doesn't look that heavy to get out of the sand which it just look like it's only a few inches in the sand. Plus Santa doesn't even do much in this film other than sitting in his sleigh all day as if he fears someone would vandalize it. And complaining that it's hot. The kids who try to help him out are like not resourceful. It makes getting a sleigh to move look like a job for the army.
The thing that made this movie bad is when Santa tells the story of Thumbelina which has no relation to Christmas or the movie itself. In fact once he starts telling the story we immediately see Barry Mahon's Thumbelina entire movie within this one. Yes I'm serious they waisted three fourths of this movie with inserting a movie that was already made two years before! The Ice Cream Bunny's appearance and role ended up being poorly portray and the cameos of Huck & Tom made no since at all. Thus making this whole movie a complete joke rather than a holiday classic.
I won't give any parts of this movie that would ruin it for those who are interested in seeing how bad it is. Believe me it's worse than "Santa Claus conquers the Martians" & "1959 Santa Claus" cause those two actually had direction. For this one it seems Barry Mahon couldn't make the story of Ice Cream Bunny and Santa Claus a long one when he decided to paste Thumbelina in the middle of the whole movie. Plus it was like a further attempt to promote Pirates World which appear briefly in the film. Which unfortunate for them the park was shut down by 1975 making this the last film appearance of the now phantom theme park. If you're looking for a movie worse than the 1959 Santa Claus, then this is it.
Copies of this film are rare, so you're best chances of ever watching it would be the Rifftrax version which makes the film funnier than it already is. That's currently the only way to actually watch it if you can spare $9.99 to download it.
More like Thumbelina exhibit at Pirates World.
Sure it does tell the story of Thumbelina except it's narrated by an audio speaker at a crappy exhibit room at the now long demolished Pirates World theme park. This teenage girl who also plays the title character observes each diagram that depicts each scene of Thumbelina. And I guess she's using her imagination to envision herself as Thumbelina as the lady on the audio speaker tells the whole story. The characters of the Thumbelina story all look like they were paid very little cause no one famous was even casted for this movie cause I bet it didn't cost anything to make it. All of the sets which are suppose to be the dioramas at the exhibit all look as crappy as if they really as made out of color paper, Styrofoam, and paper ma-shay. The costumes aren't too appealing cause they all look like they were constructed at some Drama theater class in Florida. The weirdest costumers would have to be these bugs(if they are bugs) the look like multi-arm birds that hop around. Those creatures are the weirdest ones you'll ever see in the story. Plus the singing was a little unbearable too. It'll make you wish the story could rap up right about now.
This make the Don Bluth Thumbelina look like a classic. Cause for this one it just looks like the director was paid by Pirates World to promote their theme park rather than just tell a plain version of Thumbelina. There's not much trivia given for this movie, but it's certainly a movie that'll weird kids out. If you're looking for the worst Thumbelina film, then you succeeded in your search.
ModNation Racers (2010)
A racing game one will play racing fans or non-fans alike!
First glance this looks like another typical racing game. Right until you discover what it has to offer other than just racing. Modnation Racers is about a young racer name Tag who enters the most insane car race tournament ever with racers or all kinds gather together to compete to win 1st place. Each race track is either basic or really tricky to over come. Including border-less tracks and sharp turn corners.
Along with a story this game has what separates it from other racing games out there is that you have the power to create your own car, racer, and track. As well as being able to race against people on the internet connection. Yes, things that sound too true be true for a racing game. If you think you play the best racing game think again when you start playing this game.
The reason I bought this game is the option to create almost any kind of racer with unlimited choices for skin color, eyes, nose, mouth, hair, hair color, hats, helmets, etc. Along with numerous download-able characters from the PSN shop. So you can create you're own made up character or create a character straight from an anime, cartoon, video game, TV show, or movie.
So if you are searching for a true racing game that won't disappoint or look like a rip off of another racing game, then Modnation racers is the game you're looking for.
American Beauty (1999)
I can't really say it was a classic at all.
Don't get me wrong, I have heard about it being critically acclaim by many critics and viewers, except I just don't accept it to be a classic.
A movie about a troubling family where the mom is an unsuccessful real estate agent and the dad has problems with work and his relationship with his wife. Their only daughter is struggling to find the right boyfriend as well. The dad then decides to change his life style after encountering with a girl who is friends with his daughter. The plot get complicated when a military family moves into the neighborhood where the son is a drug addict and the dad is military strict.
Parts of this movie was funny, I give it that much credit. However there were parts I found very hard to watch. The misunderstandings and the military dad were one of the reasons I don't consider this film a classic at all. Would I ever watch it again? No I wouldn't.
This is one of those rent it before buying it type of movies. Cause it's a movie you might like or hate, it all depends on what you consider to be a classic.
