Routine Italo-Spagnola Spaghetti Western with thrills , duels , attacks , and shots
Moving Spaghetti Western is filled with unstopped action , thrills , brawls and crossfire . Djurado or Jim Golden Poker (as Montgomery Clark) is a gunslinger who rides into a town called ¨Silver Mine City¨ and immediately becomes involved in a violent dispute between a pretty saloon owner (Scilla Gabel) and a powerful owner , Tucan (Luis Induni) . Tucan wants the closed saloon, that's why below there's a silver mine. Later on , Tucan's henchmen carry out a bank robbery and assault a stagecoach where the new sheriff travels. Then , Jim Parker is accused of the bank robbery and being relentlessly chased. Along the way, Djurado falls in love for a beautiful saloon girl (Margaret Lee) who's subsequently kidnapped.
This stirring tortilla/Ravioli Western packs shootouts , noisy action , pursuits , dances of the saloon girls and violence . The movie is running out of ideas a bit ; nevertheless , it is still good enough to be fun . Italian-Spanish co-production filmed in Lacio , Rome and Colmenar Viejo , Manzanares del Real , Madrid , full of familiar faces , assaults , exaggerated characters , gun-down , zooms , lots of shots and fights in Terence Hill and Bud Spencer style . Stars the unknown Dante Posani under pseudonym Montgomery Clark giving a so-so acting , he ravages the screen , he jumps, makes acrobatics , hits and runs ; besides , receiving violent punches and wounds . Worthwhile watching for a demonstration of the confrontation between Montgomery Clark along with the new sheriff against Tucan and his hoodlums with some looks that say it all , including a thrilling ending . The film benefits itself from the lush appearance of three Eurotrash beauties : Scilla Gabel , Mariangela Giordano, Margaret Lee at the time married to Klaus Kinski . Here appear important secondaries from Spaghetti/Tortilla or Paella Western , being an Italian/Spanish co-production, there are Spanish actors as Goyo Lebrero , Luis Induni and show up briefly the ordinary Italians : Fortunato Arena , Federico Boido and Pietro Torrisi who in next decade to play various Sword and Witchery films as Peter McCoy.
Enjoyable and musical score by Gianni Ferrio who composed various Spaghetti scores in Ennio Morricone style. As well as colorful and adequate ciinematography by Miguel Fernández Mila . The motion picture was regular but professionally written/directed by Giovanni Narzisi . He managed to make a fluid and filled with action enough , though average and in medium budget . He was a craftsman who photographed , wrote and directed some movies . As he was cinematographer in ¨I sovversivi¨, ¨La violenza dei dannati¨, ¨A second spring¨, ¨The Love Factory¨, ¨The Grim Reaper¨, ¨Eric the Conqueror¨. He only directed two films : ¨Latin Male Wanted¨and this¨Djurado¨(1966). Rating : 5/10 . Average but passable , only for hardcore Western fans.

Escape a Shipwreck and Travel on a Floating Island with Cannibals who Perform Shakespeare! The most joyous entertainment for the whole family! You've never seen anything like it in your life!.Non, jamais vous n'avez vu ca!
An epic musical adventure about a journey to a mythical island in search of a fantastic snail , regaining his wit and courage as Dolittle crosses adversaries , natives and encounters wondrous creatures. The marvelous and enjoyable premise suffers , at times , from a poor and weak script. Children will find this flick very amusing thanks to Harrison's stunning acting , attractive musical numbers , a lot of beloved animals , Robert Surtees' colorful cinematography and catching songs from Leslie Bricusse , such as : ¨My friend the doctor , Talk to the animals , Doctor Dolittle , I've never seen anything like it , Beautiful things , When I look in your eyes, After today, Fabulous places , Where are the words ?¨. Harrison performance as Dolittle owes a fair amount to his Professor Higgins from ¨My fair lady¨ . He's well accompanied by the always smpathetic Anthony Newley , Samantha Eggar , Peter Bull , Muriel Landers, Portia Nelson and Richard Attemborough's brief acting as a circus owner , among others . Traditional values and great movie for families , ressulting to be an exciting movie from beginning to end, this is an amazing feel nice film and I was hoping to see more like it.
Other versions about Hugh Lofting's acclaimed tales were starred by Eddie Murphy , such as : ¨Dr Dolittle 1 , 2, and 3¨ , made in 1998 , 2001 and 2006 . And recent ¨Dolittle¨ (2020) bt Stephen Gaghan with Robert Downey, Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen , Jim Broadbent , Jessie Buckley, Emma Thompson , Rami Malek. Wholeheartedly recommend for a great family movie. Fun enough and great adventure for kids and adults. Doctor Dolittle is one of the most joyous entertainment for the whole family.
Un tè con Mussolini (1999)
Semiautobiographical account based on filmmaker/writer Zeffirelli own experiences
A story of civilized disobedience regarding some expatriate women and on Zeffirelli's own childhood who seems to be the illegitimate son called Luca (Baird Wallace) of a wealthy Italian . The boy's mother has died, and whose neglected father (Massimo Ghini) has all but abandoned him , the latter is happy when the boy is taken in a peculiar group of eccentric women. As Luca's raised by a group of middleaged woman , known as the Scorpioni, in 1930s Florence, they are the following ones : Judi Dench as Arabella , Joan Plowright as Mary Maggie Smith as Lady Hester , Lily Tomlin as Georgie . He is specially raised by an Englishwoman(Joan Plowright , Laurence Olivier's wife) in pre-World War II Fascist Italy. Living to each other in Florence, and presided over by an ambassador's widow, a group of Englishwomen live a sheltered existence which they believe is guaranteed personal protection in a tea reception given by Il Duce (Claudio Spadaro). However, as war breaks out, Mussolini consolidates his power and Luca is sent away to school and the women are interned , and while they find themselves unwelcome foreigners , but he cannot sever ties to his surrogate mothers when is enlisted . This English colony is occasionally joined by a flamboyantly rich American-Jewish (Cher) , who visits them amongst her travels and marriages to wealthy older men.
Semi-autobiographical tale in the Fascist Italy from the early life of writer/director Franco Zeffirelli, describes his early existence with an expatriate community of women. Amusing if not always focused comedy drama with great interpretations , including the stunning cast , three Award winners: Dame Maggie Smith, Dame Judi Dench, and Cher . Being well co-written by Franco Zeffirelli and John Mortimer and regarding historic events as the rise and fall of Mussolini. Lush Production Design and Art Design by Biagio Fersini ,Fiorella Mariani , Marco Allegri , though the war scenes late in this movie are shots taken from A bridge too Far (1977) . And being very well-performed, protagonists are adequate for the roles , a veteran star studded-cast , such as : Cher, Judi Dench, Joan Plowright, Joan Plowright, Maggie Smith , Lily Tomlin . And supported by notorious secondaries such as : Massimo Ghini, Paolo Seganti , Claudio Spadaro Chris Larkin as Major Gibson is Dame Maggie Smith's son and final theatrical film of Michael Williams as British Consul who was the actor-husband of Dame Judi Dench and Jackie Basehart as Count Bernardini was son of American actor Richard Basahart and Italian Valentina Cortese .
It contains exquisite cinematography by Davit Watkin , a magnificent Italian cameraman , being shot on evocative location in Florence . Unforgettable and auntingly wonderful musical score by Stefano Arnaldi and Alessio Vlad. The motion picture was well written and directed by Franco Zeffirelli . He was a production designer and director, known for The taming of shrew (1967), Romeo and Juliet (1968), La traviata (1982) , Champion , Jane Eyre , Endless Love , Hamlet , Otello , Turandot , Sparrow , Callas Forever and the TV series Jesus of Nazareth . The following year, in 1963, he was nominated for Broadway's Tony Award as Best Scenic Designer for "The Lady of the Camellias." Being one of eight Italians to have been nominated for the Academy Award for 'Best Director'. Rating : 7/10. Worthwhile watching , better than average .
Juventud a la intemperie (1961)
A tangled story focusing on urban delinquents professionally directed by prolific Ignacio F. Iquino
This Iquino movie focused with a moral sense , dealing with rebel youth, stuck in hustle and bustle , with little desire to work, of a certain accommodation , as opposed to a generation that suffered from the war. A group of misguided young men , including some women with an idle life , go frequently to Bongos , a fashionable dance club among young people in Barcelona . Alberto Torres (Manuel Gil) is in love with Susana (Mercedes Ayuso), but she only has eyes for Fernando (Fernando León), whom she is going to marry . When they are both in a club, Alberto ends up injured after hitting the phone booth where he is arguing with Susana. Then the young lady called Susana is stabbed . Alberto is the main suspect in a case being investigated by Torres (Adriano Rimoldi), Alberto's father and the new district commissioner . As the son of Commissario Torres, is the prime suspect, so he will be arrested and interrogated by his own father who is helped by an old fiend (Luis Induni) and Legion's ex-colleague.
In this interesting drama there is violence , fights , action , eroticism , pursuits, discoteque scenes and sensationalism that undermine verisimilitude . It results to be a peculiar whodunit in which young youngsters get together at a music club , but shortly after a girl appears stabbed, and the question is to find out : who is the murderer ?. A passable look at young life and badness in the margined side let the story flow quick and being realized in realistic style but sometimes lacks credibility . The all-rounder Ignacio F. Iquino produced and directed this engaging police and social film, with traces of proto-cinema ¨quinqui¨ , this sub-genre to be developed in the subsequent decades with filmmakers as José Antonio de la Loma with ¨Los Ultimos Golpes del Torete¨ , ¨Yo el Vaquilla¨and Eloy de la Iglesia with ¨Navajeros , "Colegas", "El Pico 1¨ , 2" . Iquino knows how to create a tense environment , in constant movement, with a lot of roles crossed over the course of a night, in which there is room for thugs , swindlers , gay man , pathologically jealous people , hunk men , forceful policemen , sexy women and a variety of music , from pop to rock'n'roll . With the Kroner's Duo (with Tony Ronald) singing : Superguapa, Rock Melody ; Gloria Stewart performing Manhattan Blues , to flamenco, going through French songs sung by Rita Cadillac , singing : Comme il est doux !, Cha-cha-cha corazoncito . Here stands out the early deceased actor Julian Mateos , a famed Spanish player , he acted in all kinds of genres , as Gialli : ¨Cold eyes of fear¨ , Drama : ¨La Celestina¨, ¨Novios De La Muerte¨ and player in US Western as well as Spaghetti as ¨Hellbenders¨ , ¨Four rode out¨ , ¨Catlow¨ , ¨Shalako¨, ¨Return of seven magnificent¨ and even produced ¨Camus's Los Santos Inocentes¨. And Rita Cadillac , she was a famous dancer and stripper at the Crazy Horse, Paris and was a famous French actress, known for ¨El submarino¨ (Das Boot) (1981), ¨Servicio secreto¨ (1961) and ¨Gran jugada en la Costa Azul¨ (1963) , she died at 58 of cancer in 1995 in Deauville, France.
The motion picture was professional but regularly directed by prolific filmmaker Ignacio F Iquino , who often used pseudonym Steve McCoy . He has been considered the Spanish Roger Corman and the "godfather" of a new generation of Catalan filmmakers since 1950s to 1980s, like Directors José Antonio de la Loma, Juan Bosch, or the next Catalan filmmakers from 1980 Ferran Llagostera or Ignasi P. Ferré, and further directors and technicians. However, Iquino is considered to be one of the worst filmmakers of Spanish film history . He wrote , directed and produced lots of films by means of his production company : ¨I. F. I.¨ that financed lots of Westerns such as : ¨Oeste Nevada Joe¨ , ¨Ninguno De Los Tres Llamaba Trinidad¨, ¨La Diligencia De Condenados¨, ¨Fabulosos De Trinidad¨, ¨20 Pasos a Muerte¨ , ¨Dólar a Fuego¨, ¨Abre Tu Fosa Llega Sabata¨ , and ¨5 Pistolas De Texas¨ . Most of them starred by Richard Harrison , Jorge Martin or George Martin , Luis Davila , Daniel Martin or Robert Woods . Iquino was a Spanish craftsman , writing and directing ; working from the 40s in all kind of genres and B movies until the late 80s . Nevertheles, he also directed acceptable films as ¨Historia De Una Escalera¨ based on Antonio Buero Vallejo's novel , ¨El Judas¨, ¨Angeles Al Volante¨, ¨Tambor Del Bruch¨ and ¨Brigada Criminal¨ at his best .
Damnation Alley (1977)
This Sci-Fi movie has its moments concerning a small group of survivors traveling throughout wasteland
This is an imaginative , action-filled adventure/thriller with some excellent moments , even if the storyline is not up to the scale of the tale . Science-fiction thriller gets off to a breathtaking start with the world ravaged by a searing nuclear holocaust . Succeeding a post-apocalyptic world, in which a group of survivors (Jean-Michael Vincent , George Peppard, Paul Winfield) at a military installation who survived World War 3 travel in all terrain , customized vehicles and hopefully their specially built vehicles will protect them along the way. Along the way finding other lost people (Dominique Sanda , Jackie Earle Haley) , strange settlements , fighting against the freakish weather , tidal waves , mutated beings, roaming survivors , weird animal life and other dangers . You have seen great adventures. You are about to live one. More than a movie. An adventure you'll never forget. The magnificent epic of five people who survive the nuclear holocaust and their incredible odyssey through the nightmare world it created. And now, you will not only see it, you will feel it, live it--in "Sound 360"--a revolutionary sight and sound experience !.
A nuclear holocaust film about a bunch of survivors attempting to drive across the desolate post-nuclear war country , complete with giant mutations, carnivorous cockroaches and while they hope more survivors are living. This apocalyptic sub-genre disappeared after its heyday in the 1950s , was revived by ¨Damnation alley¨ with giant mutations and roaming survivors . Stars a good cast such as : Jan-Michael Vincent , George Peppard , Dominique Sanda , Paul Winfield , Jackie Earle Haley and very secondary actors as Kip Niven and Robert Donner . While' it's a not a notable film , it's not particulary excellent , but simply acceptable and passable . The movie has its moments and considering the outdated premise , that's quite an accomplishment , adding the stunning musical score by the great Jerry Goldsmith as well as evocative cinematography by Harry Stradling Jr. The picture is passable and decent enough in spite of the giant scorpions , laser effects and flood are awful . Rated ¨Parents Guide¨, though it has not excessive violence , nudism , sexual scenes or profanity .
The motion picture was professionally directed by Jack Smight , American filmmaker with a penchant for the bizarre , macabre and extravagant entertainments . He began working for television in the early 50s . After successful ¨Harper¨ also with Paul Newman , in 1966 he realized the quirky caper titled ¨Kaleidoscope¨ . His best movie resulted to be ¨No way to treat a lady¨ , a very black comedy .Being continued by more peculiarities as ¨The Illustred man ¨. It's followed by the barely-released ¨Rabbit run¨, as he went on in TV films as ¨The screaming woman¨ , ¨The longest night¨ and ¨Frankestein: the true story ¨ . After that he directed unconvincing Sci-fi , as big war movie as ¨Midway¨ and one of ¨Airport¨ series . ¨Damnation Alley¨ is an acceptable and passable film , that turned to be such conspicuous lack of success what was a flop at box office ; however , nowadays , being best considered.

Beautiful scenery , colorful cinematography by cameraman Arthur Ibbetson , catching musical score by Henry Mancini , spirited adventure and a stirring climax lift this story . It is a genuine as well as imaginative tale written and directed with sensibility , fairness and imagination , though some scenes are far-from-snappy . Script occassionally shows flashes of wit above its station before succumbing to sticky sentiment , at times.
The motion picture was uneven but competently directed by Jeannot Szwarc , containing some flaws , gaps and shortfalls . This veteran French filmmaker has directed some successful films as ¨Bug¨, ¨Jaws 2¨, ¨Enigma¨, ¨Santa Claus¨, ¨Supergirl¨ , ¨Hercules and Sherlock¨, but usually working for TV , making episodes of popular series as ¨Bones¨ ,¨Scandal¨ , ¨Supernatural¨, ¨Castle¨ , ¨Criminal Minds¨ , ¨Grey's Anatomy¨ , ¨Private Practice¨, ¨The Protector¨, ¨Jag¨, ¨Numbers¨ , ¨Ally McBeal¨, ¨Fringe¨, ¨CSI Miami¨, among others . El barrendero (1982)
Nice and entertaining farce upon a sympathetic sweeper with good intentions who get in trouble.
Good-natured and warmhearted Cantinflas comedy , here playing an atypical and likable sweeper. Cantinflas is a good-feeling sweeper sometimes resorting to wordly solutions to problems . Along the way , our cleaner makes good acts , helping people , fine assistance , clashes repeatedly with another sweeper and falls in love for a maid . Meantime , the sweeper takes on two nasty robbers who took a Murillo painting , being the sole witness of a robbing committed by the art thieves, and he eventually reunites his co-workers who are doing a strike , even if he opposes the strike of his fellow strikers. Furthermore, he finds in his garbage container an abandoned baby as well as the Murillo painting. Here Cantinflas is simply the coolest cleaner ever !
A gentle, satisfying and agreeable comedy with a lot of humorous, enjoyable sketches about an unconventional street sweeper who delivers goodness , help and happiness . Cantinflas here appears as an intimate human persona with his virtues and shortcomings . It is the hilarious all new adventure of that imprudent , impish , impossible droll role magnificently played by the splendid Cantinflas as a humble but botcher street sweeper, but above all an endearing human being . Highlights of the movie are Cantinflas' songs when he sings to his girlfriend the famous : ¨Con dinero o sin dinero .. pero sigo siendo el rey¨ and Cantinflas himself doing a funny strip-tease . Most laughs are supposed to come from watching the offbeat sweeper do such outrageous things as dancing , singing , drinking at a upper-class party , brawling and organizing peculiar tricks to get his attractive purports . This is a successful , though overlong satire, and in my opinion it is one an acceptable Mario Moreno Cantinflas movie , though the repetitive formula in the Eighties results to be exhausted . This is a simple fun and exhilarating film about an unusual sweeper versus villain crooks and mean owners along with other adventures and misfortunes shown in a mass collection of vignetttes . Cantinflas' career was very long from the Forties to Eighties . Throughout his fruitful career Cantinflas performed good-tempered and kind people , mostly low-class characters . Cantinflas was once described as "the world's greatest comedian" by none other than Charles Chaplin. Cantinflas was one of the biggest stars ever in Spanish language films, he never forgot where he came from. Much of his money was given over to charitable work, including high-quality, low-income housing for Mexico City's poor . He is responsible for more than one word that is in the modern Spanish language dictionary, including the verb "Cantinflear", which roughly means to talk a lot but say nothing of substance. Equally , he played motley roles with all kinds of jobs, as he was street cleaner , a teacher , a doctor, an actor , an extra , a scientist , a clown, a fireman , a porter , an elevador operador, a photographer , a prospector , cowboy , a student , Hotel manager , an Ambassador , Bellboy , a police officer , magician , a priest , among others . These roles to be interpreted in films as El Profe , Bombero Atómico, El Supersabio, El Analfabeto, El Extra , Sube Y Baja , El Conserje , El Mago, Por Mis Pistolas , El Circo, Su excelencia, El Señor Doctor , El Señor Fotógrafo , El Patrullero, Por Mis Pistolas , and his last one : El Barrendero.
The motion picture was professionally directed by Miguel Maria Delgado in his usual style , and he was Cantinflas' ordinary filmmaker . Rating : 6/10. Above average Cantinflas movie . A childhood favorite , appointed to tremendous fans of the great Cantinflas. Essential and indispensable seeing for Cantinflas fans due to be his last film .

This first part contains thrills , chills , noisy action, high body-count , breathtaking state-of-art-special effects, characterization enough, and violent happenings .This is a Science Fiction and drama film based upon the novel James Dashner in which a teenager wakes up in a difficult society divided into factions and he searches answers about a mysterious maze . Thomas takes desperate, disturbing choices, and makes difficult decisions to protect his companions and, finally, discovering the shocking truth. Here our starring Thomas faces one impossible challenge after another, as she unreveals the truth about his past and, ultimately, the meaning of the strange and perilous maze with plany of aracnid monsters , as well as the dark future on his sad world . The movie relies heavily on the long battles with excessive use of giant spider machines, and abstract images on the dreams performed by Thomas . Stars Dylan O'Brien who gives nice acting as the valiant teen who is really haunted by her past, as well as she must confront the dangerous labyrinth . He is well accompanied by a largely British cast to be with him in the three entries, and most of the secondary cast spent the week before production taking part in a survival training in the glade , such as : Kaya Scodelario, Ki Hong Lee, Will Poulter , Thomas Brodie-Sangster , Joe Adler , Aml Ameen , Blake Cooper, Dexter Darden , and special mention mention for the veteran Patricia Clarkson in a fundamental role as Ava Paige.
The picture has a colorful and brilliant cinematography by Enrique Chediak. And a thrilling and rousing musical score by John Paesano. The flick was well directed by Wes Ball , who also made the sequels : Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015) and Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018) . Wes Ball originally met with 20th Century Fox Studios to shoot a feature length version of his short film 'Ruin' , but then they offered him the chance to direct this 'The Maze Runner' and he accepted with a budget 4 million and shot in just 44 days . Wes Ball is a good professional director who has got a big success with this fantastic trilogy . Rating : 6.5/10. Well worth watching.
Red de libertad (2017)
Based on real events about a nun who hides fugitives and rescues over 2000 people during Nazi occupied France
This interesting story is inspired on actual facts , dealing with the incredible life of Helena Studler, a nun and Daughter of Charity , also called Sister Helena (1891-1944), was a nun of the congregation of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul of Metz and a member of the resistance French, recognized for having organized the escape of more than two thousand fugitives under the Nazi regime during World War II. Nicknamed "the French Schindler", she was distinguished with the National Order of the Legion of Honor and the Croix de guerre with palms. As the nun Helena Studler turns into the rescuer of the persecuted by Nazis by creating a non-violent network . The nun Helene clandestinely within the shield of the Red Cross' diplomatic immunity to shelter allied prisoners from the Gestapo. Helena masquerades in order to outwit the German plans in occupied France.
This engaging story drags in some place but was professionally realized and contains nice cinematography and evocative musical score . The flick narrates faithfully by means of flashbacks her fights , ambitions , dreams , aims , and activities , seed sown on good ground has borne much fruit . At the ending the scene where the good but detained nun and the Nazi bad guy , finally confront each other is a high point . Stars Assumpta Serna who gives a fines well as likable interpretation as Helena Studler, a tenacious and brave nun who opens paths in the field of freedom and in the defense of the prisoners and rights of the pursuers . Her acting is full of vitality and enthusiasm . Well filmed entirely on location in France and Spain . The motion picture was adequately directed by Pablo Moreno who previously made other though-provokingand religious films as ¨Pablo De Tarso¨, ¨Alba¨, ¨Un Dios Prohibido¨ and his last one :¨Luz De Soledad¨ .
The actual events are the following ones : Helena Studler entered the company of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul in 1912 under the name of Sister Helena. At the outbreak of the First World War, she was expelled from the Seminary of Belletanche near Metz -then in German Lorraine- for being French. After the signing of the armistice on November 11, 1918, which established, among other demands, the immediate withdrawal of all the troops of the German Empire from the territory of Alsace-Lorraine, he was able to return to Metz to serve in the Saint Nicholas Asylum (Hospice Saint- Nicolas) , the oldest hospital in the city. In July 1940 Moselle was de facto annexed to the German Third Reich. Metz had been declared an open city on June 14 and German troops entered the city on June 17. On June 29, a branch of the Gestapo moved into Metz. The defeated French government did not protest. . The French prisoners wandered around, sick and without means of subsistence, and were mostly herded into Fort de Saint-Julien, a military installation near Metz. The Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul of Metz first obtained a permit to receive donations and help the prisoners. When that permission was revoked, Sister Helena obtained another to visit prisoners in Saarbrücken, Stuttgart, Mannheim, Nuremberg, Karlsruhe, and Wiesbaden. The successive caravans of prisoners arriving in Metz and the chaos that this generated gave Sister Helena the opportunity not only to provide care and food, but also to start organizing an escape network with the participation of many families in the city. Various resistance movements arose in the rest of the Moselle department and were not always coordinated with each other. As in Alsace, the peculiar form of this compromise was the passage and intelligence channels, which were generally dismantled by Nazi repression. On August 15, 1940, on the occasion of the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary celebrated in Place Saint-Jacques, in the presence of Bishop Joseph-Jean Heintz and in front of a statue of the Virgin Mary, Helena led the singing of a anthem that implied the faith of the inhabitants and their opposition to the annexation of Metz to the German Third Reich: «Queen of France, pray for us, our hope, come and save us!!» ("Reine de France - Priez pour nous - Notre espérance - Venez et sauvez-nous!"8 The participants in the celebration deposited at the foot of the statue the flowers that formed a tricolor carpet with a layout similar to that of the French flag. The occupation authorities took the opportunity to expel Bishop Heintz the next day, while many priests and inhabitants of Metz suffered the same fate or were deported Heintz fled to Lyon where, with the permission of Archbishop Pierre-Marie Gerlier, established the official seat of the diocese of Metz. But Sister Helena's runaway network was well organized: she had few direct employees who were responsible for receiving the "packages" (runaways) at different places, usually churches, and escorting them to the train or bus station,8 supplying them with supplies. Tickets or tickets, and instructions for the journey and arrival. They delivered their "packages" to carriers who followed them at a distance, either to the train stations at Rosselange, Moyeuvre-Grande, or Amanvillers, or to bus destinations, usually Saint-Privat-la-Montagne, Sainte-Marie-aux- Chênes or Montois-la-Montagne. Arrived at their destination, the transporters entrusted them to families or organizations that took care of accommodation, clothing, the delivery of false documents and the passage to the unoccupied area. Thus, more than two thousand fugitives benefited from that escape network to elude the Gestapo in Metz and reach the free zone, among whom the then young Lieutenant François Mitterrand -later President of the Republic-24 and his personal friend Roger-Patrice Pelat, Boris Holban, and French General Henri Giraud, Charles de Gaulle's counterpart in the Free French movement. On January 11, 1941, the nun organized the escape of Boris Holban, a Romanian communist of Jewish origin, who between March 1942 and 1944 operated as an organizer and military leader of the FTP-MOI resistance groups - Snipers and Partisans. Immigrant Labor-from the Paris region. Holban dedicated the end of his life to writing a book in which he recounted his escape and praised the figure of Helena Studler. Sister Helena also collaborated in the escape of the young priest Marius-Félix-Antoine Maziers who escaped from a Nazi stalag along with 42 companions using a sewer , he was later appointed Archbishop of Bordeaux.

Among adventures, violence and escapes , a batch of dirty and dark secrets emerges.. James Fenimore Cooper's Great Adventure Classic !. Last of the Great Mohicans...First of the Great Pioneers... Bravery, Loyalty and Wilderness Justice.
This is a thrilling film set in colonial America, with plenty of action , battles , violence , a love story , and including breathtaking outdoors . This peculiar B frontier western in 1950-style containing overwhelming adventures , intrigue , fights and romance . It's a quickie with lack luster and low budget but it manages to be at least an enjoyable adventure movie because containing action, sensational outdoors and outlandish thrills situations abound . The story is neither realistic nor ambitious, but sympathetic with good scenarios, costumes and gorgeous landscapes . Excellent action sequences with bloody attacks and spectacular as well as impressive fights. Charismatic performance for all casting . There are magnificently photographed scenes featuring forests, lakes , rivers and mountains . The reason why The Deerslayer holds up so well even today is that director Kurt Neumann invests his roles with dignity and strength. The sextet of starring actors : Lex Barker , Rita Moreno , Forrest Tucker , Cathy O'Donnell , Carlos Rivas are pretty well with special mention for Jay C. Flippen as the bigoted father.
The film displays a haunting and rich cinematography capturing flavor of colonial life by Karl Struss, Neumann's usual cameraman. The motion picture was nicely produced and directed by Kurt Neumann (The fly, Cronos , She-Devil , Tarzan and the leopard woman). German-born film director, a specialist in second features. Made the rounds of Hollywood studios, beginning with Universal , followed by RKO , Paramount and United Artists . From 1945 worked for Sol Lesser, in the dual capacity of director and co-producer, on the "Tarzan" franchise. Excelled in low-budget crime thrillers , westerns and science-fiction subjects, such as Rocket K-1 (1950) and The Fly (1958), arguably his most successful and best-known picture. This vigorous picture The Deerslayer (1957) obtained limited successful but results to be agreeable enough . It's a good stuff for young people and adventures lovers who enjoy enormously with the extraordinary dangers on the luxurious landscapes and marvelous Technicolor photography. Rating : 6/10, acceptable and passable . The flick will appeal to adventure and Western fan .
La colmena (1982)
Interesting but depressing character studio of a motley group of unfortunate people in 40s' Madrid
An splendid film full of emotion , drama , social habits and feeling of sorrow . Concerning the post-Spanish Civil war and regarding the Cafe La Delicia, based on the novel of the same title from Camilo Jose Cela, "La Colmena" , it results to be a downbeat and sad retelling about some hard years . Through a microcosm made up of a multitude of characters whose axis is the cafe La Delicia where most of them meet to forget about hunger and cold , a crude vision of the winter of 1942 in Madrid is given, at the beginning of the hard postwar, the years of hunger, restrictions and ration cards. With the stories of many people in the Madrid of 1942, just the postwar of the spanish civil war, as the main theme of the moviep is the contrast between the poor poets, surviving close to misery under the Franco's regime.
This is an engaging depiction of a misfit group of roles in Spain , post-Spanish Civil War and whose existence gets very hard for them due to poorness , starvation and difficult economic conditions . It's a thought-provoking drama about suffering , sadness , sacrifice and feeling with interesting character studio on a varied assortment of individuals . It's a brilliant and touching film with some sordid elements , though slow-moving at times and tiring, but being developed with intelligence and sensibility enough . There is a contrast between the upper and lower classes , between the winners of the war, the emerging class of the people that makes easy money with illegal business and the helpless, unfortunate citizens. To close his almost thirty as a screenwriter and producer at the head of ¨Agata Films¨ production, the producer/writer Jose Luis Dibildos plans to move away from his traditional comedies and adapts the best novel by Camilo Jose Cela . Based on his script and after several delays, caused by the change of director , it ends up being effectively directed by the great specialist and novels adapter Mario Camus. Thanks to a strong and well structured script , tight production and an extensive cast of leading figures , including Camilo José Cela himself , it wins the Golden Bear at the Berlin Festival . Main cast is frankly fabulous : Jose Sacristán , Victoria Abril , Concha Velasco , Emilio Gutiérrez Caba , Ana Belén , Francisco Rabal , all of them are really awesome . Being well accompanied by a good support cast with a lot of familiar faces , such as : Mario Pardo, Luis Ciges , Fiorella Faltoyano, José Sazatornil, José Luis López Vázquez, Mary Carrillo, José Bódalo, Charo López , Marta Fernández Muro , Queta Claver , Elvira Quintillá , Francisco Algora , Imanol Arias , Maria Luisa Ponte , Agustín González , Rafael Alonso, Antonio Resines, Manuel Zarzo, José Vivó, Luis Barbero, among others.
It displays atmospheric and evocative cinematography by Hans Burmann and appropriate musical score by Antón Garcia Abril . The motion picture was compellingly directed by Mario Camus following his particular style . Camus was born in Santander , Cantabria , location in which often shoots his films . He worked with Carlos Saura in several screenplays during the early 60s Los Golfos (1960), Llanto Por Un Bandido (1964)), and also directed some shorts . His first feature films were Los Farsantes (1963) and Young Sánchez (1964), a movie about boxing which won the Best Film Award at the Buenos Aires Festival . Mario has an important career with film and television adaptations quite remarkable , as he efficiently directed yarns based on notorious writers such as Perez Galdos, García Lorca, Cela Camilo José Miguel Delibes . During various decades he touched styles varying from romantic comedies and musicals to splendid adaptations from famous novels, as is the case of the prestigious TV series "Fortunata y Jacinta" (1979) . In 1983 he was given the 'Medalla Oro De Las Bellas Artes' (Arts Gold Medal), and one year later he prepared his most successful work both with public and critic : Los Santos Inocentes (1984), an adaptation from the novel by Miguel Delibes. Mario is an expert on interesting dramas as proved in ¨The days of the past ¨,¨The house of Bernarda Alba¨ , ¨La Colmena¨ which won the Golden Bear Award at the Berlin Film Festival , Cinema Writers Circle Awards, Spain 1983 Winner CEC Award Best Film Best Actor Rafael Alonso , Best Supporting Actor , Luis Barbero, Best Supporting Actress Mary Carrillo Best Director , Mario Camus , Best Screenplay , José Luis Dibildos ,and many others . Rating : 7/10 , Above average ; it's a decent film though sometimes sad and downbeat .
14, Fabian Road (2008)
Attractive and thoroughly meaningful film that is noteworthy for its strong dramatic performances
The fiction follows Camila Ponte (Julieta Cardinali) , an Argentine best-selling fiction author with a writer's block who is gently kidnapped by a purported fan named Vega Galindo (Ana Torrent) and there is no ransom demand or release date . Camila is thereby taken to an isolated hostal in Extremadura managed by Palmira (Angela Molina) so she can write a new novel. Rather than a fan, Vega turns out to be seeking revenge, whilst Camila, rather than a novelist, is a marketing façade to sell novels. Vega wants to close wounds and Camila has dark secrets . But then a peculiar relationship emerges between the two women. Somehow, everyone wants to close them. I also feel like closing wounds , resulting in an affectionate bond.
Jaime de Armiñan shoots this nice drama , returning to the big screen after thirteen years away from directing. As is usual in most of his works, the film tells of the story of two lost souls who meet and interweave together their lives , dealing with a complex love-hate relationship . It is a story of suspicion, mistrust, revenge and of love as well . It is a timely story, it is well made with interesting dialogue in a suggestive narrative . His characters speak to us, above all, of nostalgia . They also talk to us about affections , forgive , forget and extreme sentiment from the sadness of seeing you uprooted from your homeland. This is an agreeable movie , thought slow-moving , plenty of feeling , and reflections about what's actually necessary in life . Stars a fabulous cast , Julieta Cardinali as Camila Ponte , a successful Argentine writer and Ana Torrent as Vega Galindo, a fanatic fan who has really dark secrets . Along with a stunning plethora of secondaries such as : Ángela Molina as endearing character of Palmira , Cuca Escribano as Fernanda Segovia , Omero Antonutti as radio man Benson , Fele Martínez as Enrique Gozalvo and special apperance by Fernando Guillén.
Photography by Kiko de la Rica is rigorous , shot on location in Cádiz, Córdoba, Andalucía and Madrid , while musical score never succumbs to the image. The motion picture was originally written and directed by Jaime de Armiñán . It is a minor work by Armiñán, but it is an acceptable work and suitable for lovers of things well done. It won nomination Málaga Spanish Film Festival 2008 and Winner Silver Biznaga Best Screenplay Jaime de Armiñán , Eduardo Armiñán and Nominee Golden Biznaga. Jaime started his long career as a prestigious screenwriter . Among his scripts credits during his early time are the following ones : El Secreto de Mónica (Monica's Secret) (1961), El juego de La verdad (The game of Truth) (1963),and El diablo bajo la Almohada (The devil under the Pillow). As the natural progression in his work in films, Armiñán moved to become a film director. He made his debut as director with his own scripts in 1969 with Carola de día, Carola de noche, (Carola by day and by night ), a project tailor-made to revive the sagging career of former child star, Marisol who, at age 21, was starring her first role as an adult. This was followed by the equally forgettable: La Lola dicen que no vive sola (1970) (Lola does not live alone), a comedy about a prostitute who promises to Virgin Mary not to have sex again if her daughter recovers from an illness to the disappointment of the men around her. While this first two directorial attempts came and went with little notice, Armiñán won acclaim with his third effort: Mi Querida Señorita (My dearest Señorita) (1971) a project developed out of a collaboration with José Luis Borau. The film, starring the popular Spanish actor José Luis López Vázquez, tells the story of a repressed provincial spinster who late in life discovers that she is really a man and moves to the city to explore his new sexual identity. Mi Querida Señorita was a critical and popular success and was nominated in 1972 for the Oscars in the Foreign Language film category. After the comedy Un casto varón español (1973), Armiñán made El amor del Capitan Brando (1974) (The Love of Captain Brando) a film that follows with sensitivity the relationship of Aurora, a young school teacher, with two men of opposite generations who fall in love with her: Fernando, a middle-aged republican exile, and Juan, a thirteen-year-old boy who enjoys playing acting in Westerns. El amor del Capitan Brando was a big commercial success. During the post Franco period, Armiñán sought ways to express both his political and social themes, but with varying degree of success. Nunca es tarde (1977) (Never too Late) recounts in parodied fashion the miraculous pregnancy of a woman in her eighties through her mystical identification with a young male neighbor whom she claims is the child's spiritual father. A more pointed narrative of sexual and political repression comes through in Al servicio de la mujer española (At The service of the Spanish Woman) (1978), which parodies with black humor the puritanical sexual values of the francoist culture that outlived the regime and continued to shape provincial life. Armiñán most acclaimed film of this period is El Nido (The Nest) (1980) in which an aging widower (Hector Alterio) falls for an adolescent girl played by Ana Torrent who won the best actress award at the Montreal film festival for her performance, and the film was also nominated for an Oscar that year; this was Armiñán second nomination. And another hit as La Hora Bruja (The Witching Hour) (1985) with a great cast as Francisco Rabal, Concha Velasco and Victoria Abril involving the activities of a lascivious traveling magician . Armiñán's filmography over the next fifteen year remained notably slender, largely due to his return to television and his highly successful scripting of several dramatic series as the big hit ¨Juncal¨.
Inside Out (1975)
Agreeable film about a misfit group get together to find a stolen shipment of Nazi gold
Thrilling story about some greedy men joined to break out an inmate in an imprenetrable prison. Unlikely trio , an ex-GI , a jewel thief and a German POW camp (Telly Savalas , Robert Culp, James Mason) band together to recover 6 million dollars in gold bars that Hitler had hidden and , nowadays , it is behind the Iron Curtain . As the motley group has to pass the Charlie checkpoint and penetrate undetected in the Soviet occupied area of East Germany, subsequently take the treasure and make off with it across the border without alerting the Soviets . Only one man (Wolfgang Lukschy of Leone's Fistful of Dollars) knows where the gold is, so the trio must get this ex-Nazi out of a maximum-security prison so that he can lead them to it . The Stash : 6 million dollars in hidden gold. Four desperate men turn Berlin inside out to find it! Just 24 hours to pull off the heist of a lifetime! They're turning the Iron Curtain inside out to get Hitler's gold. Berlin, 1975 . . . An American ex-Major, a German ex-Colonel and an international ex-con . . . They're turning the Iron Curtain inside out to get their hands on Hitler's hidden gold. They're turning the Iron Curtain inside out to get their hands on Hitler's hidden gold. Berlin, 1975 . . . An American ex-Major, a German ex-Colonel and an international ex-con. One of the greatest escape adventures of all time!
This fun film is packed with intrigue , noisy action , thrills , tension and bits of humor . It results to be an entertaining and amusing caper to take a robbed gold shipment and to find it to be necessary a Nazi prisoner who knows the secret , that's why they help him to break out of prison . The picture is passable but the suspense and action should hold most viewers' attention. It contains uncomfortable mix of flaws and gaps with little believable situations and it's regularly developed. There's a lot of notorious actors giving acceptable interpretations , both American ones : Telly Savalas , Robert Culp , James Mason , Aldo Ray , Don Fellows and Germans : Günter Meisner , Adrian Hoven , Wolfgang Lukschy , Doris Kunstmann or Austrian : Charles Korvin . This ¨Inside out¨ bears certain resemblance to ¨Wild Geese 2¨ by Peter H. Hunt starred by Scott Glenn , Barbara Carrera , Edward Fox and Laurence Olivier as Rudolph Hess , in which a team of mercenaries is hired to spring Rudolph Hess from Spandau Prison in Berlin . As the role Reinhard Holtz played by Wolfgang Lukschy is Rudolph Hess-lookalike, who was judged in Nuremberg , found guilty on two counts and he was given a life sentence in Spandau ; long time after , he was found dead at age 93 with an electric cord wrapped around his neck ; Spandau prison was subsequently demolished to prevent it from becoming a shrine.
The picture was middlingly directed by Peter Duffel . The good craftsman Peter Duffell directed various films , such as : ¨Experience preferred.. but not essential¨ , ¨The Far Pavilions¨ , ¨House that dripped blood¨, ¨Inside out¨. But his speciality was mini-series and several TV episodes from famous series , such as : ¨The Bill¨ , ¨Space precinct¨ , ¨Tales of the Unexpected¨ , ¨Inspector Morse¨ , ¨The Waterfall¨ , ¨The famous five¨ , ¨Journey to the Unknown¨ , ¨Man in a Suitcase¨ , ¨The adventures of Black Beauty¨ , ¨Strange report¨ , ¨Far Pavilions¨ and ¨The Avengers¨ , among others . Rating : 5.5/10 . Essential and fundamental watching for Telly Savalas and Robert Culp fans . Well worth seeing for caper movies enthusiasts.
Crimes of the Future (2022)
Cronenberg's very weird film , set into the not-so-distant future where pain and infections have disappeared
Saul Tenser (Viggo Mortensen) is a beloved performance artist who has embraced this new state, sprouting new and unexpected organs in his body. With his partner Caprice (Lea Sydoux) , the celebrity performance artist, publicly showcases the metamorphosis of his organs in avant-garde performances. There's a human evolution moves people beyond their natural state and into a metamorphosis, which alters their biological makeup. Either way, Accelerated Evolution Syndrome, is spreading fast. While some embrace the limitless potential of trans-humanism, others attempt to police it. Along with his partner Caprice, Tenser has turned the removal of these organs into a spectacle for his loyal followers to marvel at in real time theater. But with both the government and a strange subculture taking note, Tenser is forced to consider what would be his most shocking performance of all.
Set in a dystopian future where Humans adapt to a synthetic environment, with new transformations and mutations. It sounds just as ambitious, taking a deep dive in which humankind is learning to adapt to its synthetic surroundings. Since the beginning of his career, Cronenberg has integrated ordinary elements in his filmography and nowadays he returns to his roots with this thriller full of amazing sequences and an intriguing approach. Set in a dystopian society , following Saul Tenser a performative artist who has the ability within his body along with his lover Caprice. The first thing that jumps out in the spectator's mind is the careful work in the technical section. Production design by Carl Spier recreates in great detail the twisted, futuristic world imagined by David Cronenberg . Sterile spaces, rudimentary-looking technological laboratories, offices controlled by bureaucrats, and domestic appliances that resemble instruments of torture. Special mention for the rotating chair in which Tenser feeds and the sarcophagus-shaped bed where the couple rests . The photography by camerman Douglas Koch uses a color palette that prioritizes dark tones, with grays and blacks taking center stage in conjunction with the gloomy and emotionless environment that surrounds the story. In addition, the long sequences give rise to a variety of shots that give meaning to the narrative and create an effect of continuous tension and overwhelm during the footage. From master shots that unite and separate two characters in one scene, wide shots to close-ups of Saul as he demonstrates him with the help of Caprice. The entire visual composition is planned with precision, and the use of symbology is used in an elegant way, creating a special relationship between the human body and art in a setting that surprises for its quality prophetic and parallelism with today's society. Costume designer Mayou Trikerioti presents memorable designs that contextualize the inner world of the characters and remain etched in the retina, such as Saul's black suit with a hood and Caprice's red dress. Adding a tense, suspenseful and emotive musical score by Howard Shore , Cronenberg's regular.
This passable but boring motion picture was regularly directed by David Cronenberg , it turns out to be slow-moving , dull and some tiring . Here Cronenberg returns to his origins when he made really rare and complex films Cronenberg gained popularity with the head-exploding, telepathy-based Scanners (1981) after the release of the much underrated, controversial, and autobiographical Cromosome 3 (1979). Cronenberg become a sort of a mass media guru with Videodrome (1983), a shocking investigation of the hazards of reality-morphing television and a prophetic critique of contemporary aesthetics. The issues of tech-induced mutation of the human body and topics of the prominent dichotomy between body and mind were back again in The Dead Zone (1983) and The Fly (1986), both bright examples of a personal film-making identity, even if both films are based on mass-entertainment materials: the first being a rendition of a Stephen King best-seller, the latter a remake of a famous American horror movie. With (1988) and The Naked lunch (1991), the Canadian director, no more a mere genre movie-maker but a fully realized auteur, got the acclaim of international critics, following many others films. Rating : 4.5/10. Only for David Cronenberg enthusiasts.
Crossing Over (2009)
A splendid multi-character canvas about immigrants of different nationalities struggling to achieve legal status

The film boasts a very good cast , such as Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, Jim Sturgess, Ashley Judd, Cliff Curtis, Alice Eve and Alice Braga. "Crossing Over" was released by The Weinstein Company : Bob Weinstein and Harvey Weinstein as executive producers in 2009. It is a thoughtful and thought-provoking movie with engaging and thorny themes . A 15-year-old girl from Bangladesh, presents a paper at school promoting that people should try to understand the 9/11 hijackers.
¨Crossing Over¨ dealing with various unfortunate immigrants struggling to achieve legal status in Los Angeles . The film regards various interesting roles set in the border , document fraud , the asylum and green card process , work-site enforcement , naturalization, the office of counter terrorism and the clash of cultures. Being well and realistically paced by Wayne Kramer by using different stories that are eventually interwoven , utilizing complex narration, steadicam and crane shots .¨Crossing Over¨results to be one of the very few pictures containing attractive portrayals of both legal and illegal immigrants in the United States.
It displays an evocative and moving musical score by Mark Isham . As well as atmospheric cinematography by James Whitaker , shot on location in Los Angeles , Santa Clarita , California . The motion picture was compellingly made by director Wayne Kramer . However , the original cut was 135 minutes long, but despite having the right to final cut , film's producer Harvey Weinstein supposedly threatened him to edit the film down to two hours . Wayne Kramer is a fine filmmaker who immigrated to the United States in 1986 , he often provides heavy emphasis on sexuality and violence and unusual transition shots. Kramer has written and directed decent movies that have won several prizes and nominations , in fact he was nominated for a 2004 Golden Satellite Award and a 2004 Edgar Allan Poe for his screenplay to ¨The Cooler¨, which also received a 2003 Special Mention For Excellence in Filmmaking from the National Board of Review . Wayne followed up "The Cooler" with "Running Scared," a gritty action thriller for New Line Cinema starred by Paul Walker , Vera Farmiga, Chazz Palminteri and Elizabeth Mitchell. "Running Scared" was released in 2006 and has since become a cult favorite among action fans. Most recently, Wayne directed the black comedy ensemble "Pawn Shop Chronicles ,"the film stars Paul Walker, Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser. Wayne will next direct the dystopian sci-fi love story "Ecstasia," based on his upcoming novel, with Scott Eastwood attached to star . Kramer's other credits include the original screenplay for "Mindhunters" (2004), directed by Renny Harlin and released by Dimension Films, among others . Rating ¨Crossing over¨ 7.5/10 . Better than average , well worth watching.
A Man Called Horse (1970)
A very gripping and realistic portrayal of American Indian way of life
The original version ¨The man called Horse¨ is the best of a nice trilogy , being starred by Richard Harris , Judith Anderson , Jean Gascon, Manu Tupou, Iron Eyes Cody , Dub Taylor , James Gammon and competently directed by Elliot Silverstein . It deals with Harris who fall into the clutches of a tribe of Sioux ¨Yellow Hands¨ Indians and they proceed to inflict torture him by ritual ; it remains a riveting variation of ¨the man living wild¨ issue . Enjoyable and entertaining film , this ¨A man called Horse¨ concerning a Britisher aristocrat abandons his formal ways and while hunting in Sioux territory , in the Dakotas , he's captured by Native Americans . He lives with them and starts to understand their way of life. Eventually, he is accepted as part of the tribe and aspires to become their leader and discovers his own strength . And taking place the ¨Sun Vow¨scene where our ex-aristocrat is suspended by horsehair ropes from bones inserted into holes made in his chest by eagle claws before they will accept him . As he passes their torture tests , and he is embraced by the tribe . A man called "Horse" becomes an Indian warrior in the most electrifying ritual ever seen!
This exciting picture packs thrills , chills , marvelous outdoors and brutally bloody torture scenes for which this flick is really notorious . The picture contains a deep critical on the inevitable contempt that ignorance of different cultures engenders as well as anthropological differences . Interesting screenplay by Jack DeWitt who wrote the original plot and its sequel , based on a 1958 segment of the TV series ¨Wagon Train¨ 1957 , bearing the same title , The Man called Horse, it is the same story as this movie, with a few changes, even chief with two sisters, and a slave to Yellow Rope's mother . Furthermore , the story is based on Cabeza de Vaca's real life , a soldier from Spain that in 1528 suffered all that happens in this movie. Richard Harris is excellent , as always , at one of his mightiest box office hits , he is in terrific form as the Britisher nobleman who finds a new and wild way of life . Judith Anderson , provides a strong acting, along with Jean Gascon, Manu Tupou and Corinna Tsopei. In addition , a fine support cast , all of them ordinaries in Indian roles . It displays a rousing and powerful musical score by composer Leonard Rosenman at his best . Colorful as well as evocative cinematography by cameraman Robert B. Hauser , including impressive landscapes . The motion picture was very well directed by Elliot Siverstein .
Sequelled by ¨The Return of a Man Called Horse¨ (1979) that many critics considered to be better than its precedessor , directed by Irvin Kershner concerning a British aristocrat , the English gentleman known as Horse, returns to the American west to save his adopted Indian tribe from extinction , as he goes back to his native homeland and takes place vengeance against nasty white men , starred by Harris , William Lucking , Geoffrey Lewis and Mexican actors as Jorge Luke , Claudio Brook , Enrique Lucero and Gale Sondergaard replacing Judith Anderson . And a third part titled ¨The triumphs of a man called Horse¨ (1983) an inferior and inadequate following dealing with Horse's son who have to save his people from prospectors in order to keep his title as Chief ; being realized by John Hough with Michael Beck , Anna De Sade , Simon Andreu , but not much Richard Harris.
The Clouded Yellow (1950)
Routine and passable thriller in Alfred Hitchcock style with a great main and support cast
Moving pursuits and awesome protagonists in this run-of-the-mill sub-Hitchcock thriller that stars the elegant and charming Trevor Howard who's top-notch , as well as the delightful Jean Simmons , both of whom submitted to continuous escapes . Dealing with a Secret Service agent David Somers (Trevor Howard) who is fired , then he takes a quiet job, being employed at the Fenton country estate owned by an eccentric man (Barry Jones) and his wife (Sonia Desdel) and where lives Fenton's niece , Sophie (Jean Simmons) . A bit later , David spirits the girl away being framed for the murder the nasty handyman and sets about hunting the real murderer. Along the way, they are pursued at the same time by the police and other people . They confront united several risks , odds and misfortunes.
Tense , exciting , ordinary mystery thriller with usual ingredients . Eric Ambler had a hand in the storyline for this unsurprising , but watchable thriller in Hitchcock style . Picture contains ordinary elements in Hitchcock films , such as the wrong guilty , chases and tension enough . The movie combines thriller , suspense , action and evocative landscapes . At the end takes place a thrilling and breathtaking pursuit from Newcastle to the Lake District to Liverpool while the hapless fugitives attempt to catch a ship for France . Stars Trevor Howard as a former British agent spy getting himself into hot water after he goes off to catalogue the butterfly collection , hence the title insect. While the beautiful Jane Simmons plays a fragile , fey young woman accused for killing . Here stands the support cast who's frankly excellent, such as : Sonia Dresdel , Barry Jones , Kenneth More , Geoffrey Keen , André Morell, Maxwell Reed , Eric Pohlmann, among others.
It contains evocative and atmospheric cinematography in black and white by cameraman Geoffrey Unsworth . Being shot on various locations in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Tyne & Wear , County Durham, Cumbria, Liverpool, Merseyside, England, Coventry Street, Newsagents in Bigg Market, Newcastle upon Tyne, Quayside, Street by St Nicholas Cathedral, Newcastle, Lake District, Soho, London, England, and , of course , in Pinewood Studios, Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, England, UK. Adding a thrilling and moving musical score by Benjamin Frankel. The motion picture was well directed by Ralph Thomas in mid-budget produced by Betty Box and Carillon Films . Thomas was a good Brit craftsman who directed in England nice films such as ¨Island rescue¨, ¨Above us the waves¨, ¨Doctor in house¨, ¨The wind cannot read¨, ¨Upstairs and downstairs¨, ¨Conspiracy of hearts¨, ¨Nobody runs forever¨, ¨Percy¨, ¨Percy's progress¨, ¨The love ban¨, ¨Quest of love¨ and a Hitch remake : ¨39 steps¨ . Rating 6/10 acceptable and passable, but neither notable , nor exceptional , but simply decent . Well worth seeing for Trevor Howard and Jean Simmons fans .
Endearing terror/thriller road movie about truckdriver Keach pursuing a killer
Pat Quid (Stacy Keach) is driving his lorry tranporting pig meat across Down Under . On the way , he encounters various other travellers and the occasional hitchhikers repeatedly as they're traveling the same road. Eventually , Quid picks up a young hitchhiker (Janet Lee Curtis). Pat begins to suspect a man driving a green van of killing young women along his route. The latter cruises desolate areas in a mysterious , customized van , picking up female hitchhikers and then raping , killing and dismembering them . The truck driver plays games... The hitchhiker plays games. And the killer is playing the deadliest game of all! One game kills time - The other kills people! A new thriller from the director of Patrick. Animal . . . . . . Vegetable . . . Or Murder? On a 1600 mile stretch of desert highway someone is playing a deadly game of sex, violence and sudden death! Hitch-hiking is her game but this time it could be the end of the road. A state of suspense. On the world's loneliest highway it's not a game - it's murder!
Thrilling movie about an elusive latter-day Jack the Ripper in loose in Australia . This terror/action film "Roadgames" was a tense and witty "danger on the road" thriller knockout which was the most expensive Australian film made in the early 80s . It's precisely its pretensions which make this a surprisingly enjoyable crossover of Hitchcockian thriller with 70s road movie . The early decesed Richard Franklyn was an avowed Hitch disciple who went on to make ¨Psycho II¨. Effective and adequate thriller with a string of cinematic shocks , the film manages a fine number of coups and surprises , with its cargo of raw meat , use of Janet Lee Curtis' association with her endless slashers or knife-flicks and the ever so-slightly surreal placing of figures in a vast , barren Outback landscape , making for an agreeable horror pic . Stars Stacy Keach as an obstinate trucker who proceeds to play a cat-and-mouse game in order to catch a suspicious series killer . Even though filmmaker Richard Franklyn actually studied under Alfred Hitchcock USC's renowned film school , he doesn't show his mentor's complete ability here . While it has its enjoyable moments , Road Games is fundamentally a nice thriller with some flaws . Duo of protagonists are pretty well , as Stacy Keach as a laid-back American truck driver in south Australia who get in trouble , while the sympathetic Janet Lee Curtis is fun as the unfortunate hitchhiker .
It contains a suspenseful musical score by Brian May who'll develop a long career in Australia and Hollywood, as well as atmospheric cinematography by Vincent Monton. The motion picture was professional and competently directed by Richard Franklyn . His first bit hit was ¨Patrick¨, this was a nifty horror feature that proved to be a big international success ; it won the won the Grand Prize at the Avoriaz Fantastic Film Festival, was nominated for an AFI Award for Best Film, and won the Best Director Award at the Sitges-Catalonian International Film Festival . Franklin then did the surprisingly solid and satisfying belated sequel "Psycho II". His other movies include the delightful "Cloak and Dagger" , the silly but attractive "Link," and the hugely entertaining "F/X 2." However, Franklin became weary of Hollywood studio politics and returned to his native Australia. He made the acclaimed play adaptations "Hotel Sorrento" and "Brilliant Lies." "Hotel Sorrento" won an AFI Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and was nominated for both Best Film and Best Director. Franklyn has made various competent terror and thriller movies : Patrick , road games , visitors , FX II and TV series as Beastmaster , Fastland , Lost world , among others . Rating : 6/10. Passable and acceptable.
Enjoyable musical comedy , set in San Sebastián when Spain was enjoying the advantages of being a neutral country
In 1916, while Europe was in the middle of First World War , Spain was peacefully living and efficiently developing itself thanks to European exports ; there eroticism was called voluptuousness shown in the Musical Revistas and Cabarets . In San Sebastián spends his summer the aristocrat Marqués de Corbina (Manuel Gil) , despite his ancient lineage, he fell completely in love with a famous cabaret singer, Rosario "La Criollita" (Emma Cohen) , which was a real scandal . But then , once married Corbina results to be his father , Senator Duke of Daroca (Fernando Fernán Gómez) , who falls deeply in love for her . At that time, it was doubted that decent women had legs . But this situation was resolved a decade later, when the roaring twenties arrived , and , with them, the sensual Lupe Cardoso (Laura Valenzuela) , Doña Ramona's daughter (Isabel Garcés) , who eventually becomes a successful vedette . During these years Europe disputes its WWI and Spain enjoys the advantages of being a neutral country . Around the Duke de Daroka , a gallery of characters reconstructs the representative society of those days when a woman's ankle was an erotic spectacle . Throughout the film several historical events unfold, including a newsreel that explains the events of the time such as the Spanish revolt of 1917, the Russian revolution, the American Ku Klux Klan, the dictatorship of Miguel Primo de Rivera .
Pierna creciente, falda menguante (English : Pierna creciente, falda menguante (Growing Leg, Diminishing Skirt ) is a 1970 Spanish musical comedy film directed by Javier Aguirre and starring Laura Valenzuela, Fernando Fernán Gómez and Emma Cohen. The film is divided into two parts, the first is starring Emma Cohen as the singer Rosario 'La Criollita' , she is one of the main stars of a cabaret in San Sebastián , while Duke of Daroca is madly in love with this singer while he spends the summer in touristic town. Ten years later , there appears Guadalupe Cardoso 'Lupe': Laura Valenzuela who dances Charleston and Foxtrop , she is so modern and unaware that she prefers a degree in chemical sciences to the jewels given by Duke Daroca who's in love again . It is a nice film of acceptable humor, with a parody of the upper classes , their snobbery , aristocratic duels and a satire of the happy roaring twenties . It is full of frivolity , duplicity , and deceits , but it turns out to be an agreeable and passable comedy with some sparkles , mayhem and madness enough. Set in 1916, when Europe was in the middle of the First World War, Spain enjoyed the advantages of being a neutral country , one of them was being able to enjoy the eroticism , mirth and magic of cabarets . There are various spectacular and luminous musical numbers well performed by Emma Cohen and Laura Valenzuela in Cabaret , Spanish Revista and theatrical style. The film is nicely set in what was known as the Roaring Twenties , some happy years after the first great war in which fun , revelry and the desire to live were the common behavior of the people of the upper , bourgeoisie and lower classes. These were the years in which modern dances were all the rage and the frenetic rhythm of the days passed vertiginously and as some old and traditional customs remain completely outdated , so some habits that years before seemed immovable have radically changed. Along with main actors : Fernán Gómez , Valenzuela , Cohen , all of them giving sympathetic acting , showing up here and there a lot of familar faces , a great plethora of notorious secondaries who fit perfectly to their secondary roles , such as : Isabel Garcés, José Sacristán, Manuel Gil, Enriqueta Carballeira , Elena María Tejeiro, Don Jaime de Mora y Aragón, Mayrata O'Wisiedo, Álvaro de Luna , Fabián Conde, José Manuel Cervino, Beni Deus , Lali Soldevilla, Yolanda Rios, José Manuel Cervino, Lola Gaos, José Jaspe, Manuel Alexandre, Manolo Gómez Bur , Barta Barri , Blaki , José Franco , Adriano Dominguez .
The film was written and financed with budget enough by great producer José Luis Dibildos (Laura Valenzuela's husband) and was professionally directed by Javier Aguirre . Being amusingly made by this prolific filmmaker Javier Aguirre (his big hits were El Astronauta , El Jorobado De La Morgue , Monja Alférez) . Javier was a craftsman , expert on comedies such as : ¨El Astronauta¨, ¨Los Que Tocan El Piano¨ , ¨Locuras De Parchis¨ , ¨Los Chicos Con Las Chicas¨, ¨Soltero Y Padre En la Vida¨, ¨Soltera Y Madre En La Vida¨, ¨Rocky Carambola¨, ¨Martes Y Trece¨. Aguirre also made quite a few terror , frightening movies , such as : ¨Gran Amor Conde Drácula¨, ¨Jorobado De La Morgue¨, ¨Vida Perra¨, ¨Asesino Está En Sus Trece¨. In addition , he directed various ¨Avant Garde¨ films . Here Aguirre carries out a decent , nimble and professional direction , though including some flaws and gaps . Rating : 6/10.
Intense and unsettling family drama about a distraught mother desperately searching for her missing daughter in Vitoria-Gasteiz
A desperate mother called Lide (Patricia López Arnaiz) discovers that her teenager daughter (Ane Jone Laspiur) has gone missing and together with ex-husband Fernando (Mikel Losada) investigates her whereabouts throughout Vitoria and surroundings.
Family drama set in the tense Vitoria-Gasteiz in 2009. The protagonist Lide well played by Patricia López Arnaiz works as a security guard for one of the construction companies of the AVE that is going to unite the three provinces of Euskadi. Being set in a political-social situation marked by the outlawing of terrorist parties , the Kale Borroka and the last gasps of ETA and the radical opposition of the Aberzales groups to the high-speed train works. Lide is a courageous mother of a broken family , along the way she faces daily acts of vandalism suffered by her company and her conflicts with her ex-husband, Fernando . When Lide realizes that her teenage daughter Ane has not spent the night at home and starts looking for her, she will also discover that her daughter is a complete stranger. After defeating the Terrorist Organization ETA and renunciation of the armed struggle in 2011 , it brought new contributions in series and films that enrich the treatment of terrorism with more plural perspectives and greater freedom. Actually, already in 2008 there are at least three titles that anticipate the new approaches: ¨Todos Estamos Invitados¨ or We are all invited (M. Gutiérrez Aragón), ¨Un Tiro en la cabeza¨ or Shot in the head (Jaime Rosales) and ¨El Infierno Vasco¨ or The Basque Hell (Iñaki Arteta). We are referring to films that are thorny for democracy, such as ¨Lasa and Zabala¨ (Pablo Malo, 2014) about an ominous crime to chronicles that make just memory such as the documentary series by Jon Sistiaga ETA, ¨El final del Silencio¨ or the end of silence (2019) or the reconstruction of the beginnings of the terrorist band ¨La linea invisible¨ (Mariano Barroso, 2020), dramatizations with a desire to investigate the human condition, such as the series ¨Patria¨ (2020), even critical works by reduction to the absurd with a humorous mood, such as the tapes of Borja Cobeaga ¨Negotiator¨ (2014) and ¨Fe de Etarras¨ (2017).
The movie was acceptably but coldly directed by David Pérez Sañudo and following a realistic style. Premiered in San Sebastian to good critical acclaim, the film has won many awards and nominations , such as : Goya Awards 2021Winner Goya Best Lead Actress Patricia López Arnaiz , Best New Actress Jone Laspiur , Best Adapted Screenplay David Pérez Sañudo , Marina Parés Nominee Goya Best New Director David Pérez Sañudo. The Blues Brothers (1980)
Cataclysmic car crash musical comedy with two great stars , James Belushi and Dan Aykroyd
Stunning and engagingly noisy comedy does have its great moments most of them musical ; dealing with two rebel musicians trying to save the Catholic orphanage where they were raised by reunite their old band .Ake Blues (Dan Aykroyd) rejoins with his brother Elwood (John Belushi) after being released from prison, but the duo has just days to reunite their old R&B band , attempting to raise money enough to save an orphanage and nearly destrying Chicago in the process . While a revengeful bride (Carrie Fisher) pursues them and outrunning the police as they tear through Chicago. The most devastating team since nitro and glycerine. They'll never get caught. They're on a mission from God. They're Back. The Most Dangerous Combination Since Nitro and Glycerine. The show that really hits the road. A briefcase full of blues.
One of the highest-grossing movies of all time in America and with big budget . A cataclylismic orgy of destruction , mayhem and noise . The title roles , the deadpan musical performers were introduced on Saturday Night Live TV series . It saw tubby James Belushi and splendid Dan Aykroyd shoot to stardom . They became like the adults Bud Abbott and Lou Costello of the Eighties .However , two years later Belushi was dead , from an accidental overdose of drugs . You could call it a bluesical, in fact with all the singers playing their own singing and dancing and a host of the blues legends performing through the film . The car crashing antics , too , get tiresome , but very amusing. There's a lot of singers , cameos and numerous guest stars appearing here and there , such as : James Brown , Cab Calloway , Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin , John Lee Hooker , Carrie Fisher, Henry Gibson, John Candy, John Lee Hooker, Kathleen Freeman, Twiggy, Frank Oz, Charles Napier, Steven Williams, Steven Spielberg and John Landis himself. Followed by Blues Brothers 2000 (2008) in which John Belushi is replaced by John Goodman , along with Dan Aykroyd, Joe Morton , Nia Peeples , Kathleeen Freeman , B. B. King , Frank Oz .
This nutty comedy was well directed by John Landis. This great filmmaker John Landis is a notorious writer/producer/director with a long career . Landis had his period of maxim splendor in the Eighties when he directed classic comedies, such as ¨Kentucky fried movie", "Into the night", "Animal house¨ , ¨Trading Places¨and, of course, ¨Blues brothers¨. If you're into craziness and overacting of the great comical experts , John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd , this picture is for you. This entertaining and amusing film is still one of the funniest in the musical/comedy genre .
The Old Dark House (1963)
Fun and attractive William Castle horror-thriller with suave laughs
Tongue-in-cheek camp terror film, alive with atmosphere , eerie events , horrifying happenings and mild laughs . Entertaining and enjoyable William Castle movie set in an eerie mansion and dealing with a criminal intrigue. Based on J. B. Priestley's book ¨Benighted¨ , being typically humorous , intriguing , ironical William Castle opera with his usual ingredients . Concerning an American car salesman (Tom Poston) in England receives a mysterious invitation from an old, eccentric millionaire (Peter Bull) to visit his house in which he lives with his twin brother. But he's stranded for the night at the old mansion which one almost expects to crumble at any moment . As meddled American decides to go off and he stumbles into a lot of secrets , various strange people (Janette Scott, Robert Morley,Fenella Fielding, Danny Green) while involving murders. Ready ! Set ! Laugh ! Join the fun in a nut-house of terror! . The Key to Spooks, Kooks, and Coffin Nooks... where the host with the most turns into a Ghost... and you... die...Laughing! .Scared stiff? Take a coffin-break!... to steady your nerves...and stifle your laughter! You'll Die Laughing! It Runs Riot! 13 terrified teenagers on the run !. The big fright! The eerie sight!
One Castle's strangest movies , set in a rural house , though actually shot in Bray Studios from Hammer Films . Atmospheric , slick terror film , creaky at times but it's still decent . The film displays adequate set design , twisted screenplay with too many ghastly scenes and adequate interpretation for all casting . This frightening/comical movie is pretty welll , though it relies heavily on black humor and some absurd incidents. Full of quotable lines with more than a touch of comedy and creepy moments . The picture blends horror with humor and acceptable visual effects . An amusing movie with thrills , tension , intrigue , chuckles , twists and turns . This is a comical mystery thriller, being more a typical spook opera from Castle who often used a lot of gimmicks . Remake to classic The Old Dark House (1932) by James Whale with Boris Karloff, Melvyn Douglas , Ernest Thesiger , Lilian Bond , Charles Laughton , based on "The Old Dark House" by J. B. Priestley . The Old Dark House (1963) stars Tom Poston giving a sympathetic acting as a salesman who sells cars ends-up spending a stormy night at the mysterious and deadly mansion of a client's family , as he get into trouble when he discovers various surprising killings . Castle held a worlwide talent search to find his stars , this time Tom Poston for whom this was one of the his movies. Along other known actors as Robert Morley, Janette Scott, Mervyn Johns . Furthermore , Peter Bull , Danny Green , Joyce Grenfell and the gorgeous Fenella Fielding as Morgana.
This agreeable , cute motion picture was professionally directed by William Castle . He was an expert craftsman with some of the all-time great schlock names serving as the producer Sam Katzman and fondness for gimmicks as proved in his successful terror films such as : House of haunted hill , The Tingler , Mr Sardonicus , Strait-jacked , Homicidal , Macabre and 13 Ghosts . Castle emulated Alfred Hitchcock , this included the practice of appearing in the trailers, and even making cameo appearances in his films . Furthermore , he made several Westerns such as : 1955 Duel on the Mississippi , 1955 The Gun That Won the West ,1955 El Americano , 1954 Masterson of Kansas , 1954 The Law vs. Billy the Kid , 1954 Jesse James vs. The Daltons , 1954 Battle of Rogue River , 1953 Fort Ti , 1951 cave of outlaws. Rating : 6/10, acceptable and passable , being one of Castle's weirdest movies . A side-splitting vintage picture awaiting rediscovery.
Heartbreak Ridge (1986)
Clint stands out as an aging Marine recon sergeant who's put in command of a young platoon
Starred and directed by Eastwood who whips this old story into shape too , with a stunning acting of a man who's given everything to the Marines . Set in 1983 , stars a hard-nosed, hard-living Marine named Thomas Highway (Clint Eastwood) who has seen action in Korea and Vietnam , he is a tough and relentless Gunnery Sergeant . His experiences have led him to become an opinionated , no nonsense man, his current rank is Gunnery Sergeant and due to his indiscipline he will never be promoted to military officer .He is prone to sudden bursts of violence, especially when he's drunk, if the situation does not suit him, regardless of the specifics or people involved. Highway is a macho military dinosaur attempting to be sensitive 80s kind of guy . He used to clash with his superiors (Everett McGill) and his ex-wife (Marsha Mason) , as he takes command of a spoiled recon platoon with a bad attitude. He is put in command of a rebel platoon to whip them into shape to prepare them for combat in subsequent battles. Then Grenada island becomes the subject of cinematic war heroics ...The scars run deep..
A strong and hilarious story of a two-fisted Marine Sergeant whipping a hopeless-looking unit into a crack fighting team is still compelling but overlong . Although the picture could use some trimming , it is passable and acceptable , but boring , at times. There are some spectacular battle scenes , but the invasion of Grenada , though , is not epic material. Actually , the most intriguing element of the movie is the rocky love story between Clint Eastwood and Marsha Mason who performs his skeptical ex-wife . Clint Eastwood is nice as a well-decorated career military man in the United States Marine Corps. Clint is both a really tough macho man and touching at times.
The motion picture was professionally directed by Clint Eastwood , though it has some flaws ,failures , shortcomings and a lot of profanities . Clint Eastwood played and directed good Westerns as ¨High Plains Drifter¨, ¨The outlaw Josey Wales¨ , ¨Bronco Billy¨, ¨Pale Rider¨ and ¨Unforgiven¨ .These films along with the filmed in the 2000s as ¨Invictus ¨ , " Changeling" , ¨ Million dollars baby ¨, ¨Mystic river ¨, ¨Gran Torino¨; make that the dramatic force of this great director turns outs to be breathtaking and impressive . Rating : 6/10 . The flick will appeal to Clint Eastwood fans. Well worth seeing.
Short-budgeted and weird movie with an unknown cast in which exorcists embarking on a frightening and frenzied exorcism spree
Horror picture shot in fits and starts with incoherent plot, dealing with ghastly possession , as people are possessed by malevolent and heinous spirits causing creepy , scary and terrible moments. The film mixes badly terror , possessions , desperate exorcisms and road movie. The synopsis follows the footsteps of the pastor Eloy de Palma and his granddaughter Alba for four days , in a Barcelona besieged by diabolical appearances and various demonic possessions . His mission is to help those possessed by evil , whose souls have been infected . In each new confrontation with the evil one , clues about the mysterious past of the protagonists are discovered , resulting in an enigma that can change the world.
It is a weak , uneven and disjointed film and it really falls short , in which an exorcist and his granddaughter , working in the Barcelona area where some strange forces seem to be infecting the purest souls cases . Routine , typical horror movie about possession and haunting events with chills , thrills , plot twists and creepy happenings . Ordinary Exorcist movie style with usual ingredients as possession , violent events , disgusting faces from the possessed people , grisly crimes and poltergeister phenomena . Asmodexia is mediocre , but not in a global sense , hence the script doesn't deliver the necessary elements , turning out to be extremely confusing , twisted and incomprehensible . The only really clear thing is that two exorcists attempting to free the immortal souls of the unfortunate ones who are grievously afflicted by the mark of the demonic Evil One , while only a few days away , an earlier cryptic "Resurrection" to take place. The basis on which the plot is based have the ordinary exorcist ingredients, in which roaming Spain's rugged countryside , a pair of travelling exorcists , a grizzled preacher, and his gifted young granddaughter undertaking their eerie activities. Let's say that the general idea is good , or at least acceptable , it is the development of this main idea what ruins the film . From my point of view, and only as a spectator, I come across the actors are not credible -although perhaps this is due to the fact that most of the dialogues seem to be set with the sole purpose of filling- , the edition is confused and the rhythm results to be irregular . A clue that the story is not well told can be found in the ending : the director should not have needed to use flashbacks to resolve loose ends and make understandable a story that otherwise does not have much to understand . Giving so many explanations to make sure no one has missed anything ruins the final climax . Although this is just one of the many details that reveal a possible bad planning in the making of the script , since there are plenty of holes , inconsistencies , forced twists and flaws .
Asmodexia (2014) follows in the wake of modern Exorcist movies , such as :¨The Exorcism of Emily Rose¨, ¨The Haunting in Connecticut¨ , ¨The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia¨, ¨The Vatican Tapes¨, among others. The motion picture was regularly directed by Marc Carreté. He studied Audiovisuals and MBA, and worked for years with some of the leading advertising agencies in Spain. In 2015, founded "Creatures of the Dark", and presently is developing and producing indie horror films such as : ¨Lagunas¨ , ¨la guarida del diablo¨, ¨Asmodexia¨ , ¨After the Lethargy¨ and Shorts : ¨El Espiritista¨ , ¨Castidermia¨ and ¨Mal cuerpo¨ . Rating : 4.5/10, so-so and average terror movie.
The Ottoman Lieutenant (2017)
Exciting and spectacular movie based on historical events with a love triangle
Extraordinary film correctly based on real deeds and set during the last days of the Ottoman Empire in which a twisted romance is developed . A world both exotic and dangerous, and on the brink of what is about to become World War I. Now, with invading army forces at their doorstep, and the world about to plunge into all-out war, a woman must make a thorny decision . It deals with a love triangle between an idealistic American nurse (Hera Hilmar) and a Turkish officer (Michiel Huisman) in World War I , along with an American doctor (Josh Harnett) . Set in a land on the brink of war the most dangerous place to be is in love.
This The Ottoman Lieutenant (2017) is the answer to Terry George's The Promise (2016) that followed a love triangle among a medical student , a sophisticated women and an prestigious American reporter , in which was a strong denounce about the Turkish genocide against Armenians , while The Ottoman Lieutenant (2017) though it recognizes that there were Armenian massacres, these were caused due to the disastrous consequences of the war and that the Armenians allied themselves with the Russian invaders against the Turks. The film has an acid critic to the indolence of European nations and international community and specially , the abandon of foreign policy . Protagonist trio gives sensational performance , Hera Hilmar as a strong-willed young woman, Michiel Huisman as a Lieutenant in the Ottoman Imperial Army and Josh Arnett as a doctor who runs a remote medical mission within the Ottoman Empire. Being accompanied by a great support cast , such as Ben Kingsley , Haluk Bilginer , Jessica Turner , among others . The movie has a colorful and evocative cinematography by Daniel Aranyó . As well as evocative and stirring music by Geoff Zanelli . This love triangle movie was professionally directed by Joseph Ruben. He his a fine craftsman who has made attractive films , most of them thrillers and action movies , such as : "The Forgotten" , "Return to Paradise" , "Money Train" , "The God Son" , "Sleeping with the Enemy" , "The Believer", "The Stepfather" and "Dreamscape" . Rating : 6.5/10 . Acceptable and decent drama .
The flick is based on actual facts , these are the following ones : It's calculated that in the indiscriminate massacre were cruelly killed by Turks approximately 1.5 million Armenians . In fact, director Joseph Ruben wanted to disown this film because of the post-production changes that deny the Armenian Genocide. This genocide against Armenians is called ¨Armenian Holocaust¨ that was the Ottoman government's systematic extermination of Armenians , mostly Ottoman citizens within the Ottoman Empire and its successor state, the Republic of Turkey . The starting date is conventionally held to be 24 April 1915, the day that Ottoman authorities rounded up, arrested, and deported 235 to 270 Armenian intellectuals and community leaders from Constantinople to the region of Ankara, the majority of whom were eventually murdered. The genocide was carried out during and after World War I and implemented in two phases: the wholesale killing of the able-bodied male population through massacre and subjection of army conscripts to forced labour, followed by the deportation of women, children, the elderly, and the infirm on death marches leading to the Syrian desert. Driven forward by military escorts, the deportees were deprived of food and water and subjected to periodic robbery, rape, and massacre. Other indigenous and Christian ethnic groups such as the Assyrians and the Ottoman Greeks were similarly targeted for extermination by the Ottoman government in the Assyrian genocide and the Greek genocide, and their treatment is considered by some historians to be part of the same genocidal policy. Reports of the conflict reached then United States Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire Henry Morgenthau , Sr. From Aleppo and Van, prompting him to raise the issue in person with Talaat and Enver. As he quoted to them the testimonies of his consulate officials, they justified the deportations as necessary to the conduct of the war, suggesting that complicity of the Armenians of Van with the Russian forces that had taken the city justified the persecution of all ethnic Armenians. The Armenians were marched out to the Syrian town of Deir ez-Zor and the surrounding desert. There is no evidence that the Ottoman government provided the extensive facilities and supplies that would have been necessary to sustain the life of hundreds of thousands of Armenian deportees during their forced march to the Syrian desert or after . By August 1915, The New York Times repeated an unattributed report that "the roads and the Euphrates are strewn with corpses of exiles, and those who survive are doomed to certain death. It is a plan to exterminate the whole Armenian people". Turkish leaders : Talaat Pasha and Djemal Pasha were completely aware that by abandoning the Armenian deportees in the desert they were condemning them to certain death . Most Armenian diaspora communities around the world came into being as a direct result of the genocide.
