I was born in Burbank, CA, Sept. 1958 to Andy & Elsie Engman, the 5th child and only boy. I went to Abraham Lincoln Elem. on Buena Vista St. approx. 1964-71, David Starr Jordan Jr. Hi '71-74, & John Burroughs HS '74-77. LAVC 78-79, then moved to Pinon Hills, CA 1979. Played music (guitar, vocals) for a living from 1980-1991, met my wife Vicki in a music class in 1983, moved in & finally married her 6/10/86. We've been inseparable ever since: lovers, best friends, musical partners, & comrades in arms thru' thick & thin.
I have a long and involved life story from addiction to recovery, new-age to Jesus, failure to success, joy, tragedy, tears, & laughter. I am now a special education teacher, teaching full time, and still going to school full time finishing yet one more credential & degree at my 3rd University, this time CSUSB. Life is full, busy, rewarding, and filled with poignant moments and deep meaning. Best of all, it has a happy ending for all God's children. Keep the faith, friend!

Beautiful Episode of Giving and Losing Life

Data explores his humanity by an act of creation, 'birthing' a new android life form, with intelligence and freewill like himself.
I cannot improve upon the the comments of the main reviewer, but wanted to say this episode is a must see.
It deals with the issues of giving life or becoming a parent, raising a child, and coming to terms with that child growing up, becoming independent, and ultimately, the loss of that child. The emotions of the crew serve to represent our human emotions felt in sympathy to Data's loss.
A beautiful, emotional episode that I love.
I would recommend this episode to anyone who is not yet convinced that Star Trek, and SF in general, has come of age, and can deal with human topics in a touching and full way.
