Lifetime wins again.
17 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Thanks to this movie, Lifetime wins another Christmas movie weekend. Bethany Joy Lenz is a cute, bubbly emotional firecracker. Add in Sharon Lawrence as the mother, and you can't lose. It also helps that the script comes from Barbara Kymlicka, who also wrote Four Christmases and a Wedding.

A Hallmark classic.
10 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The writing and acting in this movie are light years ahead of what Hallmark passes off as a Christmas movie these days. Andrew McCarthy is solid in the lead, while Michelle Nolden adds grace, class and timeless beauty.

Middling movie saved by Merritt Patterson
10 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Merritt Patterson adds life to even the most boring movies. Such is the case here. Jon Cor looks totally lost as the male lead. But Merritt Patterson's sparkle and natural beauty save the day. Paula Shaw is also great here. Overall, watch it once then forget it.

Christine's first miss of the season.
9 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This movie gets five of its stars just the delightful Beth Broderick. She adds joy to any movie. Lexi Lawson is fine as the star, but you have to wonder why her character never took her coat off? I guess that's why she has no chemistry at all with the bland male lead. You know, with a baby on the way. So far this season, Lifetime has done better with their holiday movies. This one though, stinks.

Lifetime does Christmas better.
1 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Hallmark Christmas movies are sweet, but formulaic and predictable. This little gem of a movie from Lifetime's holiday slate last year stars the delightful Alexandra Breckenridge from This Is Us. The amazing Jane Alexander adds class, and Jamie Spilchuk is fine as the male lead.

Alicia Witt. Boom.
27 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is Alicia Witt in her holiday prime. Yeah, the plot may be convoluted, but every actor here plays their part to joyful perfection. Mark Wiebe does a fine job as the male lead. Watching this movie is like drinking a big mug of warm hot chocolate.

Can't wait for the sequel.
27 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
As we rewatched this movie today, I realized what a great actor Ali Liebert is. She's super cute, and can convey a gamut of emotions with just her eyes. And contrary to what some previous reviewers believe, her personal life has absolutely no bearing on how she portrays a character.

Real emotions echo deeply here.
24 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This movie played me like a violin. You won't find emotional depth in the Christmas movies being made these days. Unlike the current rage of casting plastic soap opera actors in their movies, this film uses real actors. Louise Fletcher is great, as is Kristopher Turner in the lead. And Lindsay Ames was a cute little pop tart back then.

What the heck did I just watch?
15 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I'll have trouble telling my friends just what this movie is about. I think I'm actually still mulling it over. I do know that enjoyed it immensely, even though some of it troubled my greatly. Shia Labeouf is great, Dakota Johnson is super cute, and newcomer Zack Gottsagen is superb. Stop reading about this movie and just go see it.

No swearing, no explosions, no murders?
8 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It's a miracle this movie made it to my local theater! A movie that treats religious people with respect, not disdain? Hollywood must be spinning in its grave. A movie featuring a cast of unknown actors that made a profit of millions? Aryn Wright-Thompson shines in her first role ever. Cameron Arnett and Shari Rigby are also excellent. Please, we need more movies like this!

Twins separated at birth...
7 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Meet up at a summer camp, and switch places! Okay that's what I would rather watch than this movie. As much as I like Candace Cameron Bure, this one doesn't work. Both twins look and act the same. Put a little more effort into it.

Poorly acted, poorly written, poorly directed, poorly edited.
25 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The quality of this Hallmark movie is way below most of their others. Just an example, in scenes filmed outside where dialogue is redubbed in later, the words don't match their lips. Autumn Reeser is usually better than this, but she's crippled by having to act with Brennan Elliott. He's horribly miscast as a romantic lead. He's great as a villain, but far too wimpy here. And Autumn's hair here is just tragic.

A great movie for a cynical age.
13 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
In this time of snarkiness, Twitter wars and general miserableness between people, in walks a movie brimming with decency yet splendidly entertaining. Don't read reviews or recaps of this movie.....just go see it. Milo longlastname from This Is Us is very good, and Amanda Seyfried from the ABBA movies is cute as a button. Kathy Baker from the Jesse Stone movies is just phenomenal. Her performance is the explosive that sends this movie into orbit.

Charming lead actress elevates this one.
13 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, Emily Kinney is just absolutely charming as the star of this movie. It's too bad that Hallmark hasn't brought her back for more movies. John Reardon is really kind of bland as the lead male. He certainly doesn't look like a football player.

Wait, this was directed by Daphne Zuniga?
11 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This would have been twice the movie if Daphne had been the star and not just the director. The leads are dull and boring.

I've been in love with Bess Armstrong for years.
11 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Unfortunately, Bess Armstrong isn't the lead of this movie. Fortunately the almost as amazing Danica McKellar is. The plot is mostly blah blah blah, here's a dog, some misunderstandings ensue, but Danica keeps this movie interesting.

Kevin Arnold's sister is a madam!
21 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Olivia D'Abo from the Wonder Years is all grown up and running a stable of high school guys for bored housewives. She's fantastic here. Also great is Beth Broderick as one of the housewives. There's nothing like a snappy, sexy Lifetime movie on a hot summer night.

Eric Roberts is a National Treasure.
14 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Eric Roberts takes his fourth turn as the insane Dr. Albert Beck, and his imaginary sidekick. He's perfect at hamming things up but not going over the edge. Emilie Ullerup is usually awful in Hallmark movies, but over here on Lifetime, she lets loose with a tour de force performance as a sleepwalking babe. I applaud the brilliant mind that took the Stalked by my Doctor Optus and crossed it with the Sleepwalking in Suburbia cast.

The older generation acts circles around the young actors.
6 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Beth Broderick and Michael Gross are great as the parents of two women who want to get married. Gross is especially fantastic playing the curmudgeonly dad. Becca Tobin is fine as the lead sister, but Ryan Rottman is dreadful as her fiance. Acting and vocal lessons, dude. Palm Springs makes for beautiful background scenery.

I'd watch anything starring Jill Wagner.
25 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Jill Wagner is looking great in this movie. She has a beguiling charm that draws your eyes right to hers. Kristoffer Polaha from Life Unexpected does a fine job as the male lead.

Rachel Boston always sparkles.
23 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Take the incredibly cute Rachel Boston, add in the ever likable Paul Campbell, and the snappy writing from Hallmark's best scripter Nina Weinman, and you have a top shelf tv movie. As an added bonus, Stephanie Bennett in a supporting role, just glows with amazing beauty. Hey Hallmark, give her a leading role.

Not the best, not the worst.
18 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Tony Danza's sitcom daughter stars as a woman who is sick of her husband's nonsense and decides to do it with the rich young guy who is chasing her. Milano has never been much of an actor, but the writing doesn't ask for much, so she's okay. I will give her kudos for going without much make-up in many scenes, and letting her age show through.

Ok, not great.
18 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
At least Hallmark is trying some different lead actors. The shame is that they have no chemistry, which makes most of the movie flat. One bright spot is Tara Erica Moore. She's beautiful and feisty and totally dominates every scene she's in.

Enough. Please stop.
9 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Each successive installment in this series gets more forced and formulaic than the last. Josie Bissett's hair gets weirder and more awkward, Jack Wagner's mugging facial expressions get hammier. Tyler Hynes does a great job as a special guest, but Cindy Busby brings her usual crackly, hard to listen to voice.

Wholesome, uplifting movie.
9 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoy the movies on UPTV. This one stars Madeline Leon as a woman whose house is destroyed in a storm. Leon is a quirky kind of cute that is really beautiful. I'd love to see her in more movies. Bo Yokely as the male lead spent most of his screen time brushing his hair out of face.
