Zero: Shisei no Koe (2005)
Fatal Frame III: The Tormented
Fatal Frame: The Tormented is the third entry in a series of video games in which you battle spirits with a mystical camera. It may sound kind of stupid at first, but the moment you start playing it you'll realize it's actually pretty scary.
Our main character, Rei Kurosawa, is a young woman who lost her fiancé in a car crash a while before the events of the game. While taking photographs of an abandoned mansion for her job, she sees the ghost of her fiancée out of the corner of her eye and decides to chase after him. After finding herself deep within the mysterious mansion, she later discovers it was a strange daydream of sorts and goes home. That night, she dreams of the manor once again and, instead of running into her fiancé, meets a vengeful woman covered in tattoos. When she awakes, she notices a strange bruise beginning to form on her back. Little does she know she has just fallen under the fatal Curse of the Tattoo.
The basic idea of the game is to journey deeper into the manor while Rei is asleep. In the manor, you will encounter ghosts that you exorcise with the help of the strange Camera Obscura, while solving puzzles to advance further into the twisted dream world. While she is awake, Rei can explore her house and look for books and tapes that will help her banish the curse.
Fatal Frame 3: The Tormented is unique and certainly the scariest video game since Silent Hill. The graphics are absolutely amazing- easily the best on the PlayStation 2 system. Later on, you can also play as two extra characters; Miku Hinasaki, a young girl with the ability to see the dead, and Kei Amakura, a friend of her fiancée with knowledge on legends and curses like the Curse of the Tattoo.
I would recommend this game to literally anyone with a Playstation 2 to play it on.
