How ,with all the money you can imagine , can they get it so wrong.?contains Spoilers
I am sitting here after watching at the theatre completely baffled.
As soon as the first terrible joke came along i knew they had failed miserably.
Then an endless barrage of pointless crap jokes just kept coming.
When will Hollywood (meaning all big studios) learn that it kills tension and the film itself.
The list of floors is too long to list and i am too angry right now to go through them all.
The only decent scene was the fight between Rey,Kylo and the guards.
The ending of "Force awakens" was awesome only to be DESTROYED by a predictably and crap chance of a quick laugh.
I literally held my face with both hands when this happened.
Im sorry to say but i think this franchise is over now with no going back.
Im only glad i was there at the beginning to experience the magic before the movie industry forgot how to make good films.
El laberinto del fauno (2006)
Rare masterpiece. ...slmple...
Where do you start with such an outstanding masterpiece. ..you start watching this movie with a certain idea of where this is going but boy oh boy are you wrong...it has dark almost black moments and then right next to these you have exceptionally beautiful moments happily riding along in perfect harmony..The look of this movie is bleak and damp and captures the war torn atmosphere perfectly even though its set in and around a forest with no damaged buildings to rely on..surely a feat on its own...The creatures partly played gloriously by"Doug Jones" are simply incredible. If you have not seen this movie put down your pad right now and go and watch this beautiful gem of a film ..I am extremely envious of you as I only wish I could go back in time and watch again with fresh eyes...a film like this comes around very seldom, so go enjoy the privilege. ..Del Torro ....you are a genius and I salute you...
First of all I would like to say congratulations to a film that dares to take on a subject that these days is like pointing at the elephant in the room and calling him big nose. But to make a point, this is not only a film about racism but a film about peoples differences and importantly their point of view..SPOILER......Sandra Bullock s role highlights this when she realises that the only person who genuinely cares for her is her housemaid. ..(personally the most touching part of the film) oh and brilliantly underplayed by Sandra B...This film really surprised me because some scenes seemed to tap in to moments that I have witnessed with my own eyes and..OK OK maybe exaggerated for story telling purposes to a degree but the essential point being still made loud and clear. Some viewers more than others need clearer , more obvious story telling than others. ..All in all a very clever movie with a great point to make...
Deeply haunting movie.Amazing....
This film made such an impact on me when i saw it many years ago that i shelled out 90 pounds for a VHS before its release on DVD.Sally field proves herself as an incredibly gifted actress and a little more..Her performance is unmatched to this day in a role that surely is any actors nightmare. All performances are very convincing but the mother(Joanne Woodward) stands out too as a terrifying monster of a parent who tortures her daughter which are showed in very disturbing flashbacks. This movie is a film which should be praised for its ability to approach such a terrible subject and do so incredibly well.Remember this movie is 1976 which was ground breaking for the time....if you watch this for the first time then please watch the full version as this film deserves the attention. If you watch the cut down version you will kick yourself..I cannot stress enough how pleased i am for Sally that she got an Emmy for this movie because it's rare that real talent gets a nod. Please watch this movie but with one warning in mind..It will stay with you for years to come .....
Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975)
Scary as hell, yet beautiful at the same time,
This is one of those rare movies that comes along and sweeps you completely off your feet and holds you there until you beg to come up for air.I first saw this movie one afternoon while flicking channels, read the synopsis and was intrigued. What i didn't expect was a movie that was so intense in atmosphere that it blew me away. The story is simple enough but has an incredibly intense underlying sense of doom. The girls play perfect roles that captures perfectly the mindset of the class and naivety.Somehow through the brilliance of the script and direction, sexual undertones hang delicately over the entire film. Reading the book has made me realise how perfectly it has been captured on film. The rock itself is menacing to the point that it takes on an overpowering persona and sits looking on,smiling like a serial killer watching one of his potential victims. There is one thing that some film goers wont like ,that is the ending is never explained fully and leaves you feeling slightly cheated and wanting a whole lot more.Personally it works all the better and like a good book, lets your mind do the rest. If you are into atmosphere and imagery, then this is for you.I cannot recommend this film enough. It really did scare me to my bone yet move me with images and atmosphere at the same time. Not sure what the intention was of the director but if it was to chill me to my core then it certainly worked.A true masterpiece...
Sucker Punch (2011)
A brave and underrated movie!!
Sucker punch is put simply "a visual feast" and yet the story seems to some how get missed.Deeper than most people can be bothered to understand but if you do,it works!!!I take my hat off to directors who are brave enough not to worry about "Filling seats" and just do what they please and Sucker punch is just that! A movie that spoils itself with over the top visuals, colour and characters. This could almost be a David lynch film as some of it is deeper than realised unless closer inspection is observed.I hope you enjoy it as it would be a shame to miss out on a rare gem.It doesn't pretend to be a Oscar type film ,it just is what it is...I loved it...
