Bio
My hobby is watching and collecting movies on VHS and DVD. On 17 June 2003, I found the IMDB site through an indication of a friend. My first review was " Anazapta" and since then, when I finish watching (or re-watching) a movie, I write my personal opinion about it.
I am eclectic, but my genre number 1 is horror. I see between 800 and 900 movies per year, including TV series.
My favorite movie is "Casablanca" and it is hard to point out my favorite director, actor and actress. I usually do not read any review before seeing a movie, in order to be not influenced by the critics.

THESE DAYS...
Presently (2023), I am very disappointed with IMDb, since my honest review of one episode of The Last of Us is being deleted or declined by the presente IMDb Editors.
I really regret to use this site on the present days, that accept one-line reviews and delete honest reviews.
Maybe that is why many old fellow-reviewers from IMDB left this site for good.
All reviews that I write nowadays are declined first and only later they are accepted, without any modification.
Probably I will stop submiting anything to this site (Reviews, Synopsis, Corrections etc.)

American Horror Story: Protect the Coven (2014)
A Gory Episode
In 1830, in New Orleans, Delphine is bored and not happy since she left Paris. But soon she finds a hobby torturing the black slaves. Queenie returns to the Academy, bringing Delphine in one piece, and she returns to her bad habits with the gardener James. Cordelia removes both eyes to retrieve her second vision and protect the coven. Fiona schedules a meeting in New Orleans with Harrison and the witch hunter Corporation and Marie Laveau and out of the blue, the Axeman posing as butler kills all the members but Harrison with his axe. Fiona kills Harrison using the same axe. Spalding sees Delphine with the dead James and lures her saying that she can murder Marie Laveau using certain medicine. Myrtle Snow gives her jewelry to Zoe and advises her to flee with Kyle to another place.
"Protect the Coven" is the antepenultimate episode of the Third Season of "American Horror Story" with a gory plot. Delphine is indeed an evil character, and this episode shows how bad she is. Fiona and Marie Laveau together are extremely dangerous and destroy the Corporation. However, it is hard to understand the physical presence of The Axeman and Spalding in the world of living even for a horror series. Madison and Queenie follow in the footsteps of Fiona, being evil characters. The sacrifice of Cordelia seems to be stupid removing her eyes. The young witches where gather in the Academy to learn to control their power but only found death and increasing of their evilness. My vote is seven.

Outside (2024)
A Heavy Family Drama in a Zombie Apocalypse Environment
In Philippines, after a zombie apocalypse, Francis (Sid Lucero), his wife Iris (Beauty Gonzalez) and their sons, the teenage Joshua "Josh" (Marco Masa) and the boy Lucas (Tyler Patdu), travel in a van to seek shelter at Francis's parents' farmhouse in the countryside. Francis finds the corpse of his father, who committed suicide, and his mother, who turned into a zombie, and he shoots her. Francis and his family lodge in the house but Iris wants to head North where there are shelters. The arrival at the farmhouse triggers madness to Francis since he was abused by his father and along the days, his insanity affects the family bonds with tragic consequences.
"Outside" (2024) is a heavy family drama in a zombie apocalypse environment. The running time is too long and deserved a better edition. There are a few zombie action scenes, and the plot is centered in Francis' increasing madness since his wife cheated on him (probably with his older brother Diego), Josh is not his son and he was sexually abused by his father. The acting is good, but the film is tiresome since there are too many dramatic situations. My vote is five.

American Horror Story: The Magical Delights of Stevie Nicks (2014)
The Soulless Fiona
Fiona and Marie Laveau team up at the Academy and Laveau wants to sleep. During the night, she is visited by the Voodoo King Papa Legba, who tells her that she must pay the price. Marie Laveau goes to a hospital nursery and kidnaps a black baby. In the morning, Marie Laveau tells Cordelia that Hank was a witch hunter and she hired him. Fiona hits Cordelia and tells that witch hunters are never alone. Fiona believes Misty Day is the next Supreme and brings Steve Nicks to the Academy to please her, and Madison becomes jealous of Misty. Cordelia tells Fiona and Marie Laveau that Harrison Renard is Hank's father and runs the billionaire corporation Delphi Trust of witch hunters, and the two witches cast a spell to break the company. Nan and Zoe go to the hospital and learn that Luke is dead. They visit Joan and find that she cremated Luke. Further, Nan learns that she killed Luke and forces Joan to drink a bottle of bleach. Madison lures Misty Day, takes her shawl and locks her in a casket. Fiona tries to sell her soul to Papa Legba, but he finds that she is soulless. Fiona and Marie Laveau drown Nan in the bathtub since Fiona intends to kill any possible Supreme.
"The Magical Delights of Stevie Nicks" is a strange episode of the "American Horror Story", with the cameo of Stevie Nicks. It is hard to like any character in this season, since most of them are liars, murderers, traitors and ambitious or stupid like Cordelia. We can point out the worst, like Fiona, Marie Laveau, Madison, Queenie, Hank, Spalding, Joan Ramsey and Delphine. But the others are also bad news, except for the free-spirited Misty Day. My vote is seven.

Luther: The Fallen Sun (2023)
Flawed but Entertaining
In London, Callum Aldrich (James Bamford) is a young man that receives instructions by phone to go to an isolated road. He sees an accident, reports to the police and is kidnapped by a stranger. Detective John Luther (Idris Elba) is in charge of the investigation and promises Callum's mother, Corinne Aldrich (Hattie Morahan), that he will find her son. However, the kidnapper David Robey (Andy Serkis), asks someone to find evidence that Luther is a dirty cop. He is arrested and sent of a maximum security prison, and Robey kills and burns Callum and other victims in a house. Luther talks to a contact to break out the prison to catch the killer. But the incompetent chief of police Odette Raine (Cynthia Erivo) makes his hunting of the psychopath more difficult chasing him, especially because there is a mole that works for Robey at the police station.
"Luther: The Fallen Sun" (2023) is a flawed but entertaining action movie by Netflix. There is a great flaw in the beginning since the writer believes that the viewers know the character Luther. Therefore, there is no explanation why he is arrested, and the viewer does not know whether he is a corrupt cop or not. It seems that the problem is his methods of investigation, but it is not clear. Odette Raine is an obnoxious and incompetent character, and it is funny the need of a black woman in command in Netflix movies. Her daughter Anya Raine is one of the most annoying characters, screaming for her mother even when her mother is fighting the bad guys. John Luther does not have a gun and is stabbed twice, but fights like a tiger. Kind of ridiculous behavior even for an action film. But the villain David Robey, in the role of a sadistic psychopath serial-killer, steals the movie with his great performance and saves the plot. My vote is seven.

Psycho (1960)
One of the Best Hitchcock's Films
In Phoenix, on Friday afternoon, the secretary Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) has sex with her lover Sam Loomis (John Gavin) during her lunch time in a low-budget hotel. She presses him to get married to her, but his debts and alimony for his ex-wife are jeopardizing their marriage. She returns late to her office and her boss asks her to deposit US$ 40,000,00 in cash in the bank relative to real state he has just sold. Marion steals the money and heads to California to meet Sam. During the night, she is tired and stops the car at the shoulder of the road and is woken up by a highway patrol officer. He suspects and follows her, and she switches car in Bakersfield. There is a rainstorm, and she decides to stop for the night at the Bates Motel. The owner, Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins), registers Marion that uses an alias and invites her to have dinner with him at his nearby house. However, Marion hears his argument with his mother because of his invitation and he brings her dinner to his office. They talk to each other and Maion suggests that his mother should be sent to a mental institution, but Norman feels offended with the suggestion. Marion returns to her room and decides to return to Phoenix to return her embezzlement. While having shower, she is stabbed to death by a strange character. Soon Norman arrives and finds her body. He cleans the crime scene and puts Marion, her luggage, including the money, in the trunk of her car and sinks it in a nearby swamp. Meanwhile, Marion's sister Lila Crane (Vera Miles) visits Sam to find out the whereabouts of her sister, but he does not know. Soon Private Eyes Milton Arbogast (Martin Balsam) visits them since he is tracking down Marion to retrieve the stolen money. He reaches the Bates Motel and Norman gives contradictory answers to him. He calls Lila and says that he is going to investigate further the house where Norman lives with his mother. What will he find?
"Psycho" (1960) is presently considered one of the best Hitchcock's films, although the bad reviews when it was released since there was no pre-screening for the "professional critics". Alfred Hitchcock has also decided to make a low-budget movie in black-and-white to fulfill his contract with Universal Studios. The plot is based on a dark novel by Robert Bloch that Hitchcock read, with modifications by Joseph Stefano due to censorship and to make Norman Bates attractive to the audience since his character in the book was very repulsive. The plot is ahead of time and unusual, since the lead lady Janet Leigh dies in the beginning of the story. The cast is superb, with Anthony Perkins, Janet Leigh, Vera Miles, John Gavin and Martin Balsam, and to keep the mystery, Hitchcock bought all the copies of the novel and released the need to cast someone for the role of Norman Bates' mother. The curtain scenes is maybe one of the most ripped-off in other movies. The Brazilian title of "Psycho" is one of the most ridiculous of the history. My vote is ten.

American Horror Story: Head (2013)
New Eyes, Dark Secrets and Witch Hunters
In 1991, the boy Hank goes with his father to a park to hunt and kill witches for the first time. Fiona brings Delphine's head to Marie Laveau and proposes an alliance to fight their common enemies, the witch hunters, but the voodoo witch refuses the offer. Hank meets his father, who is the boss of a corporation of witches' hunters and is ordered to kill the witches in their coven. He also learns who blinded Cordelia. Myrtle Snow receives Pembe and Quentin to have lunch with her, but she poisons them and steal one eye from each one. When Cordelia wakes up, she has new eyes and can see again. Nan visits Luke with Zoe and Madison. But his mother is reluctant to let her see him. When Nan tells Luke's thoughts to Joan, she let her in and Luke discloses a dreadful secret that God told him. Hank breaks in Laveau's saloon and kills several witches.
"Head" is another reasonable episode of the "American Horror Story" with new revelations. Hank and the witch hunters are the most engaging part, inclusive because the viewer learns who throw acid on the face of Cordelia. Myrtle Snow's revenge is cruel and unexpected. Cordelia now seeing again loses her ability to see the inner of people. The truth about the pious Joan is also a great surprise. My vote is seven.

American Horror Story: The Sacred Taking (2013)
Fiona Must Die
Queenie is walking though homeless when a man attacks her, but she uses her voodoo magic to get rid of him. Zoe and Madison find her and invites Queenie to return to the coven, but she refuses and uses a dagger to remove the hear of her victim, saying that Marie Laveau needs the hear of an evil man. Fiona is dying of cancer and tells the Axeman that she does not want him to see her die. Misty Day and Myrtle Snow knock at the Academy door asking for shelter since a witch hunter shot them. Cordelia joins Zoe, Madison, Nan, Misty Day and Myrtle Snow to perform the Sacred Taking ritual to protect the coven and kill Fiona. Then Madison and Myrtle Snow convince Fiona to commit suicide using pills, since a new Supreme resurrected them. However, the ghost of Spalding appears and convinces Fiona that she was lured by the witches. Fiona receives a box with a surprise inside.
"The Sacred Taking" is another reasonable episode of "American Horror Story". Queenie is really convinced to join Marie Laveau's coven. The purpose of The Axeman till now is difficult to understand. Successive revivals and ghosts having human behavior is kind of exaggerated in this season. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "The Sacred Taking"
Savageland (2015)
Boring and Annoying Movie
In 2011, at the Arizona-Mexico border town of Sangre de Cristo, all the 57 residents disappear during the night. Most of the bodies are missing and there are only pieces of bodies and blood trails to the desert. Hinzman Sheriff John Parano (George Savage) and his men arrest the lonely survivor, Francisco Salazar (Noe Montes), who is an illegal immigrant, handyman and amateur photographer, and is covered in blood and asking for help. The racist police Sheriff accuses him of the crime spree despite the lack of conclusive evidence and most of the racist population of Hinzman believes he is a monster. When a roll of 36 photos taken by Salazer appears, the judge and the defense lawyer disregard the new evidence; but experts realize that the population was attacked by a horde of zombies.
"Savageland" (2015) is a zombie movie with an original idea. The concept of bigotry and racism from most of the population and authorities from the fictitious Hinzman town in Arizona is interesting. Unfortunately, the execution as a documentary with found footage is boring and annoying. The successive "interviews" irritate the viewer, and this film is highly overrated in IMDb. My vote is three.
Title (Brazil): "Savageland"
MadS (2024)
Contamination and Transformation
In France, the popular teenager Romain (Milton Riche) visits his drug dealer on the day of his birthday to buy and use cocaine. While driving back home, Romain stops his car on the shoulder of the road since he is too crazy. Out of the blue, an injured woman with neither tongue nor teeth jumps in his car, and he calls the police. She shows a tape recorder with a tape in English saying that she is contaminated but he does not understand. However, he is drugged and decides to drive her to the hospital, but she seems to die in his car. Covered in blood, Romain takes a shower and when he returns to his Mustang, the woman has vanished. Soon his former girlfriend Anais (Laurie Pavy) knocks on his front door and together with their friends, force Romain to go to a party. He feels strange and when he meets Julia (Lucille Guillaume), they have sex in the bathroom. When the alarm at his house is activated, Romain needs to run to dial the safety code, and he finds the woman in his house. Soon he is hunted down by soldiers and runs away, believing he has a bad trip. Meanwhile Anais is also contaminated by Romain in the beginning of a night of killing and gore.
"MadS" (2024) is a pessimist and different French horror movie, showing the contamination and transformation of ordinary youths into zombies. The idea is the usual zombie apocalypse story, but the plot is original, with good music score and acting of unknown cast, following the transformation of the lead cast. Overall, the storyline is scary, showing the beginning of a zombie apocalypse. My vote is seven.

American Horror Story: The Dead (2013)
Killings and Betrayals
Fiona has one night stand with The Axeman, and then she learns that he followed all her life since she was a child. Cordelia meets Madison and learns that Fiona killed her through her new power, and she plans to kill her mother. Zoe kills Spalding after learning that he protected Fiona. Madison and Kyle have sex and then a threesome with Zoe. Hank is prepared to kill the witches. After provoking the death of Myrtle Snow forging that her hand was burned with acid, Queenie betrays Madame Delphine LaLaurie delivering her to Marie Laveau.
"The Dead" is another reasonable episode of "American Horror Story", with several killings and betrayals. Cordelia finding that Fiona killed Madison is probably the best moment of the show. The awful and confused Queenie now betrays Delphine. The Academy seems to bring the worst of each character but Nan. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "The Dead"
American Horror Story: The Axeman Cometh (2013)
The Serial-Killer and the Witch Hunter
In 1919, the serial-killer The Axeman scares the population of New Orleans. When he orders the residents to listen to jazz music in a certain night, the young witches in the Academy decide to get rid of him. They listen to opera and when The Axeman comes to kill the listener, the witches join forces and stab him to death. In the present days, Zoe, Queenie and Nan use a Ouija board to learn what happened to Madison. The spirit of The Axeman is awakened and Queenie interrupts the contact; however, Zoe contacts him alone and finds the decay corpse of Madison. The trio interrogates Spalding, but he protects Fiona and says that he killed Madison. Zoe brings her to Misty Day and asks her to revive Madison. Meanwhile, Hank visits Marie Laveau and discloses the fate of Kaylee and others young women.
"The Axeman Cometh" is an interesting episode of the "American Horror Story", with new revelations. Zoe brings back the evil The Axeman that meets Fiona, who is with cancer. Zoe does not believe that Spalding killed Madison. The new power of Cordelia will probably disclose many dirty secrets in the coven. But the best part of the show is the revelation of who Hank is. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "The Axeman Cometh"
Apocalypse Z: El principio del fin (2024)
The TSJ Virus
In Spain, the lawyer and manufacturer of a solar panels Manel (Francisco Ortiz) and his beloved wife Julia (Iria del Río) visit his sister Belén (Marta Poveda) and her family near Christmas. While returning home, they have a discussion and a subsequent car accident, where Julia dies. One year later, Manel is depressed and living alone with his cat Lúculo in Galicia. He does not pay attention to the outbreak of the TSJ virus in Europe, more lethal than Covid 19. The military husband of Belén, Mario (Oriol Ruiz), succeeds in being transferred with Belén and their little son Carlos, to the Canary Islands and they call Manel to join them. But the Spanish government closes the borders trying to contain the virus that turns people into violent zombies. Belén and Mario advise Manel to stay home and ignore the government shelters where the probability of infections is greater. But Manel has only a few supplies and soon he needs to loot supplies in the closed house, in the beginning of his fight to survive with Lúculo.
"Apocalypse Z: El principio del fin", a.k.a. "Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End" (2024), is a surprisingly good movie of apocalypse zombie. The plot is very well developed and feasible, since the themes "virus" together with "climate changes", are very reasonable in the present days. This film is full of action, in the style of the first seasons of "The Walking Dead" when the pandemic begins. The open end is scary to Manel and his acquaintances. A sequel would be welcomed showing the fate of mankind (at least in Europe). My vote is seven.

American Horror Story: Burn, Witch. Burn! (2013)
Motherhood
The Academy is under siege of zombies, including Madame Delphine LaLaurie's daughters. Luke believes they are kids disguised as zombies and Nan saves him. But Zoe saves them all and discloses a new power. Meanwhile, Fiona is at the hospital with Cordelia that now is blind. Fiona revives a newborn baby while in the hospital with her daughter. She confronts Hank when he visits Cordelia. When the Witch Counsil returns to the Academy to accuse Fiona, she accuses Myrtle Snow of blinding her daughter and shows her burned hand to the Counsil. Myrtle Snow is sentenced to burn at the stake.
"Burn, Witch. Burn!" is an episode of "American Horror Story" with a dreadful decision: burning Myrtle Snow at the stake. The Machiavellian manipulation of Fiona is impressive, turning the unfavorable decision of the Counsil on her favor. The new powers of Cordelia and Zoe are new attractions in the plot. Madame Delphine LaLaurie regretting the fate of her daughters turned into zombies by Marie Laveau is a great punishment to this evil woman. Quennie is a not good character and she helps Fiona to manipulate her trial. The presence of Misty Day with the remains of Myrtle Snow promises a great sequel. Will Cordelia learn that Hank is a piece of trash? My vote is eight.
Title (Brazil): "Burn, Witch. Burn!"
Geostorm (2017)
An Underrated Movie by Ridiculous "Professional Critics"
After several natural disasters on Earth, there is an international coalition of seventeen countries to build a system of satellites to climate control called "Dutch Boy" under the command of the chief engineer Jake Lawson (Gerard Butler). However, the efficient Jake is a free spirit man that despises politicians and is replaced by his estranged brother Max Lawson (Jim Sturgess), who secretly lives with the Secret Service Agent Sarah Wilson (Abbie Cornish). Three years later, UN soldiers find a frozen Afghanistan village. In the International Climate Space Station that is under the administration of the USA but will change in two weeks to an international consortium, the Indian engineer Makmoud Habib (Richard Regan Paul) copies the data from the satellite responsible for the Afghanistan area to investigate and dies in a mysterious accident. Max convinces Jake to go to the station to investigate what happened. Meanwhile, there is an increase of temperature in Hong Kong, causing fire, explosions and collapse of buildings. Jake teams up with the German chief engineer Ute Fassbinder (Alexandra Maria Lara) and her team. Soon Jake and Ute find that a virus was introduced in the system and there is a traitor among them. But who?
"Geostorm" (2017) is an underrated disaster movie by ridiculous "professional critics". It is amazing the Metacritic Rating (2.1), showing how terrible these people are. Lack of payola? Who knows? "Geostorm" is a movie with a great cast, ith the names of Richard Butler, Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Ed Harris and Andy Garcia. The action is great most of the time, with disasters, chasings, and betrayals. The CGI is also great, showing disasters on Earth and on the space station. "Geostorm" is not a movie to be indicated to the Oscar but is certainly a great entertainment and worthwhile watching. My vote is seven.

The Trouble with Harry (1955)
A Dark Comedy by Hitchcock
In Vermont, the retired seaman Capt. Albert Wiles (Edmund Gwenn) is hunting rabbits in the woods and shots three times. He looks for the rabbits and finds that the first shot hit a hunting sign; the second one, a beer can; and the last one, a stranger. He decides to bury the body, but the boy Arnie Rogers (Jerry Mathers) had seen him first and called his mother Jennifer Rogers (Shirley MacLaine). She recognizes the man and says that now he will not disturb her anymore. Soon the spinster Miss Ivy Gravely (Mildred Natwick) sees Capt. Wiles pulling the body and invites him to have tea with her and promises secret. Dr. Greenbow (Dwight Marfield) trips on the body, but he is reading a book and does not pay attention on the corpse. A tramp (Barry Macollum) sees the body and steals his pair of shoes. Finally, the painter Sam "Sammy" Marlowe (John Forsythe) sees the body and helps Capt. Wiles to bury him. Sammy decides to go to the house of Jennifer to know who the man is, and she says that he is her husband, Harry, and discloses her marriage to Sammy. Meanwhile, Capt. Wiles visits Miss Gravely and Arnie comes with a rabbit to trade the animal for two muffins. He realizes that his third shot hit a rabbit; therefore, he did not kill Harry. He decides to dig up Harry, in a day of many burials and unearth Harry. Meanwhile Deputy Sheriff Calvin Wiggs (Royal Dano) arrests the tramp because of his shoes that tells him that they belonged to a dead man. But he does not find any body.
"The Trouble with Harry" (1955) is a different film by Alfred Hitchcock, since it is not a suspense but dark comedy. Revisiting this movie after so many years, it is still very funny for people that like black humor. "Weekend at Bernie's" (1989) uses a similar type of black humor, with two friends hiding a dead body along the day. One of the greatest attractions is the debut of the gorgeous Shirley MacLaine in the cinema industry. The landscapes in Vermont are also wonderful. The screenplay is naive and delightful, with Harry being dug up several times for the most different motives and good dialogs. The successful fate of the painter Sammy is also great in this feelgood movie. My vote is seven.

American Horror Story: Fearful Pranks Ensue (2013)
The Halloween Day
In 1961, three Caucasian men hang a black kid on a tree. When Marie Laveau learns, she uses her voodoo to revive several corpses in the cemetery to kill the men. In the present days, it is Halloween and Zoe visits Kyle at his mother's house and sees what he did to her. Kyle is covered in blood and Zoe will prepare something for him to eat but when she returns, he has fled from the house. Fiona uses her magic to revive Queenie and sends the head of the Minotaur to Marie Laveau, breaking the truce between their covens. Meanwhile, Hank has an encounter with his lover, the beautiful Kaylee, and she tells him that she is infatuated with him. The Witches Council visits the Academy without any previous announcement to interview the evil Fiona about the murder of Anna Leigh Leighton and Madison's disappearance. Myrtle Snow invites Spalding to testify, but he lies to protect Fiona and Cordelia defends her mother. Marie Laveau casts a voodoo spell to revenge the Minotaur.
"Fearful Pranks Ensue" is another good episode of the Third Season of the "American Horror Story". Jessica Lange and Angela Bassett again steal the show performing their evil characters. Zoe sees the tragic effects of her revival of Kyle, and now it seems that she wants to kill him. Hank's personality is shown in this episode and Fiona is right for disliking him. Cordelia is too naive to be Supreme. The kinky Spalding is totally deranged with his hobby. The make-up of the zombies is excellent. Why cannot Nan reach Spalding's thoughts? My vote is eight.
Title (Brazil): "Fearful Pranks Ensue"
American Horror Story: The Replacements (2013)
The Supremes
Fiona recalls when she was young and how she killed her mentor and former supreme Anna Leigh Leighton, while drinking at the Academy. Zoe visits Kyle's mother Alicia Spencer, who is bereaved with the loss of her son and has almost committed suicide. She visits Misty Day and brings Kyle, who is not totally cured yet, to his mother's house without knowing an infamous secret between them. A new neighbor of the Academy, Luke Ramsey, arrives and Madison and Nan visit him. Madison wants to shag him but his pious mother, Joan Ramsey, expels them from her house and Madison reacts. Cordelia visits Marie Laveau expecting she casts a spell to resolve her infertile problem, but the witch says no. Fiona sees Madison with the future supreme of the coven and surprisingly takes her as her protégé.
"The Replacements" is the best episode so far of the Third Season of "American Horror Story". The evilness of Fiona is shown with her behavior and Machiavellian attitude. Zoe sees the consequences of playing God. The mysterious Joan Ramsey confronting Fiona may be a good fight in future episodes. The role of the immortal racist Madame Delphine LaLaurie in the show is not clear yet. Queenie shagging the Minotaur is a gross moment of the show. My vote is eight.
Title (Brazil): "The Replacements"
In Her Skin (2009)
Based on a True Story
In 1999, in Melbourne, the Babers are a happy middle-class family, and the fifteen-year-old ballerina daughter Rachel Barber (Kate Bell) is in love with her boyfriend Manni (Khan Chittenden), who dances with her. One night, Mr. Barber (Guy Pearce) is waiting for Rachel at the tram station, but she never appears. On the next morning, Mrs. Barber (Miranda Otto) and he go to the police to report that their daughter is missing, but the police detective does not give much attention, believing Rachel is a runaway home. However, Mr.& Mrs. Baker do not give up and distribute missing person pamphlets along the tram route. Manni discloses to them that Rachel had been invited by an older woman for a confidential job to earn a great amount that would allow Rachel to buy the desired ballet slipper. Meanwhile, the unstable teenager Caroline Reid Robertson (Ruth Bradley), who has inferiority complex, low self-esteem, depression and eventual seizures due to the medicines she must take, sees Rachel and Manni making out in a bench on the street. She was a former front door neighbor to the Barber family, with divorced parents, that idolized Rachel and tried to imitate her. Her obsession increased over the years, and she plots a plan to lure Rachel and bring her to her apartment. What will happen to Rachel?
"In Her Skin" (2009) is a dramatic Australian thriller based on a true story. The screenplay is very well written, showing the story by different point of views from the family and the killer. Unfortunately, this DVD was not in my priority list of my collection and only yesterday I saw this great film. The sad story is very well-acted and despite the names of Guy Pearce, Miranda Otto and Sam Neill, the unknown Ruth Bradley steals the movie with her magnificent performance as an insane teenager. How Caroline transported Rachel's body to hide at the farmer of her father is never explained. Was her wealthy father involved? Further, the sentence of twenty years imprisoned with the right to probation after fourteen years is absolutely unfair to the Barbers, who lost a beloved fifteen-year-old daughter in a planned murder. It seems that the Australian justice system has similar problems to the Brazilian one. My vote is seven.

American Horror Story: Boy Parts (2013)
The Perfect Boyfriend
Two detectives go to the Academy to interrogate Zoe and Madison about the bus accident, but Fiona uses her powers to make them forget the case. Zoe is grieving the death of Kyle, and Madison takes her mate to the morgue to revive him. They find only body parts of the dead teenagers and Madison builds Kyle using the best available parts. However, the spell does not work well, and Madison flees, leaving Zoe alone with Kyle. They hijack the car of an employee to flee from the morgue and are surprised by Misty Day and taken to her house by the swamp. Fiona meets Marie Laveau and proposes a deal with her. Cordelia wants to have a baby with her husband Hank, but she is infertile and uses black magic while having sex with him.
"Boy Parts" is the second episode of the Third Sason of the "American Horror Story". Differently from the creepy Second Season, "Coven" seems to be a combination of comedy with teen adventure but never a horror series. Madison acts like Dr. Frankenstein in this episode, building a perfect boyfriend to Zoe. The interview of the detectives in the Academy is silly, with Zoe having a mental collapse with a few questions. Kathy Bates's character is intriguing and Misty Day as well. What will be the offspring of Cordelia and Hank Foxx may be a surprise in the show. My vote is seven.

American Horror Story: Bitchcraft (2013)
Witches in New Orleans
When Zoe Benson is having sex with her boyfriend Charlie for the first time, he mysteriously bleeds to death. She learns that she is from an extinguishing lineage of witches and is sent to the Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies in New Orleans directed by Cordelia Foxx. She learns that the place helps young witches to deal with their powers. She knows her mates Madison Montgomery, who is a successful actress and a powerful witch; Queenie, who is a voodoo witch; and Nam, who is a clairvoyant. Madison goes with Zoe to a party at a fraternity and is raped by several members. Meanwhile, Zoe and the fraternity member Kyle Spencer have an infatuation for each other. When they run after the bus where the rapists are fleeing, Madison uses her powers and turns the bus upside-down and burns it, and there are only two survivors. Meanwhile the Supreme witch Fiona Goode arrives at the Academy and takes over the direction from Cordelia, who is her daughter. She has evil plans to bring back the witch Madame Delphine LaLaurie, who used to torture her slaves in 1834 at New Orleans.
"Bitchcraft" is the first episode of the Third Season of "American Horror Story" with a reasonable story of witches in New Orleans. The episode is weird, with several subplots, and a great guest cast with Kathy Bates, Taissa Farmiga, Angela Bassett and Emma Roberts, in addition to the fixed cast of "AHS" composed by Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Francis Conroy, Evan Peters and Lily Rabe. The LaLaurie Mansion on Royal Street in New Orleans is a popular tourist place and considered one of the most haunted houses in the United States of America. My vote is six.

Stream (2024)
One of the Movies with More Fake Reviews in IMDb
When the promiscuous seventeen-year-old Taylor Keenan (Sydney Malakeh) is brought home by the police after stealing a case of beer, her parents Roy (Charles Edwin Powell) and Elaine Keenan (Danielle Harris) conclude that they need to spend some time together in family. They travel with Elaine and the boy Kevin (Wesley Holloway) to the Pine Hotel, where they went when Taylor was a kid, to spend a couple of days together and they are welcomed by the front desk Mr. Lockwood (Jeffrey Combs). While her parents are checking in, Taylor befriends two French young men at the bar. Soon the accesses to the hotel are totally sealed and four deranged killers start a crime spree, killing the guests, in a deadly game and Roy needs to fight for his and his family lives.
"Stream" (2024) is one of the movies with more fake reviews in IMDb. The plot is awful, with no storyline but only stupid killings and the rating is overrated. It is sad to see names such as Dee Wallace, Jeffrey Combs, Tim Curry and Tony Todd participating in this awful movie. I hope future viewers do not believe in the fake reviews like I did, wasting my time watching this garbage. My vote is two.

American Horror Story: Madness Ends (2013)
One of the Best Endings of a Series
In the present days, Lana Winters is a famous writer of several bestsellers and is interviewed by television at home. She discloses how she had shutdown Briarcliff, showing the deplorable conditions of the interns when she was a television reporter. She also tells the host the fate of Cardinal Howard, when she exposed him in the television. She discloses that she had not aborted her son with Bloody Face but given him to adoption. She also discloses the fate of Sister Jude, who was rescued from Briarcliff by Kit Walker and brought to his home, and what happened to Kit and his children. Meanwhile, Johnny Morgan is posing as part of the television crew expecting to kill Lana with a shot into her face to honor his father.
"Madness Ends" is one of the best endings of a series. The second season of the "American Horror Story" is outstanding, with the destiny of each character. In addition, the DVD shows several interesting Extras about this season. The acting is top-notch, and Jessica Lange shows that is one of the best actresses in the industry, with a fantastic performance of a complex role of a woman that changes from prostitute to Sister, from headmistress of a mental institution to a demented intern in a memorable performance. My vote is ten.

American Horror Story: Continuum (2013)
Disappointing Episode
In Massachusetts, Kit Walker is living with Alma, Grace and their children in a polygamic relationship. Grace is always recalling her abduction and showing Thomas and Alma her drawings, while Alma wants to forget her experience with the aliens. Out of the blue, Alma has a breakdown and kills Grace with an ax. The Catholic Church delivers Briarcliff to the State, and Monsignor Howard looks for Judy Martin and tells her that he will move to New York City promoted to cardinal and will do his best to release her. Lana Winters becomes a famous writer, writing about her experience at the Briarcliff, and forgets her promise to close Briarcliff with journalistic reports. On the present days, Johnny Morgan goes to a library that is closing the door searching Lana Winters' successful book with a personal agenda.
"Continuum" is a disappointing episode of "American Horror Story", actually the first one in this excellent series. The complicated situation of Kit Walker, Alma and Grace is tragically ended and unrealistic. Why did the writers decide to return with Alma's character, instead of ending the show with Kit, Grace and Thomas together? Judy Martin's situation in Briarcliff completely insane after the lobotomy should also end. Monsignor Howard should have had a different fate. Looking forward to seeing the last episode to see how these writers will fix (or not) the plot. My vote is eight.
Title (Brazil): "Continuum"
The Wasp (2024)
Evil Revenge
In England, the black Heather (Naomie Harris) wants to have a baby with her husband Simon (Dominic Allburn), but he neglects and does not give much attention to her. Out of the blue, she looks for her former schoolmate and friend in their adolescence, Carla (Natalie Dormer), who works as cashier of a supermarket and is seven-month pregnant. However, they do not talk to each other for many years. Heather offers fifty thousand pounds to Carla to kill her husband, who is unfaithful to her. In principle, Carla is reluctant, but when the proposal is increased to seventy-five thousand pounds, Carla accepts the deal. She goes to Heather's house to discuss the arrangements but soon Heather washes the dirty laundry and recalls how they became estranged to each other with tragic consequences.
"The Wasp" (2024) is a theatrical thriller about an evil revenge. The talkative plot is a cat and mouse game with a well-planned conclusion. The original film has great twists and is basically supported by Naomie Harris and Natalie Dormer, who have magnificent performances. The teenage cast has also a great work. My vote is six.
Title (Brazil): "A Vespa" ("The Wasp")
American Horror Story: Spilt Milk (2013)
The Last Villain
Dr. Thredson tries to force Kit Walker to convince Lana to deliver the tape to him, but Mother Superior Claudia helps her to escape with her dossier and the tape. She waits for Bloody Face in his apartment armed with a pistol while the police are coming and asks him the fate of Wendy. Grace has shattered memories of what happened to her while abducted but tells Kit that Alma had problems with the aliens' experiments. Kit is released from Briarcliff and blackmails Monsignor Howard to release Grace. They go with their baby to Kit's house that is partially destroyed and have a huge surprise. Lana goes with two detectives to Briarcliff with a warrant to release Judy Martin, but Monsignor Howard says that she hanged herself and was cremated.
"Spilt Milk" is the antepenultimate episode of "American Horror Story", with another great storyline. Most of the villains are gone from Briarcliff and now the last villain is still there. I expect (and hope) that Sister Jude will take care of him. The mysteries now are Kit's babies and Lana's baby, and what will happen to Johnny Morgan. My vote is eight.
