My hobby is watching and collecting movies on VHS and DVD. On 17 June 2003, I found the IMDB site through an indication of a friend. My first review was "Anazapta" and since then, when I finish watching a movie, I write my personal opinion about it.
I am eclectic, but my genre number 1 is horror. I see between 800 and 900 movies per year, including TV series ("Sex and the City", "Angel", "Buffy", "Six Feet Under", "Lost" etc.).
My favorite movie is "Casablanca" and it is hard to point out my favorite director, actor and actress. I usually do not read any review before seeing a movie, in order to be not influenced by the critics.
I am trying to list my favorite movies alphabetically ordered, but this list may change:

Brainless and Senseless
"Infinite" is a brainless and senseless action-sci-fi film. The flawed plot is a complete mess, without character development, but based on an interesting premise: an original view of reincarnation. Unfortunately, the reason why the villain Bathurst, performed by Chiwetel Ejiofor, does exist is amazingly stupid. Bathurst wants to destroy the mankind and all the living things on Earth since he has been bored of reincarnating for three hundred years. However, he has a bullet that holds the souls of who is shot in a chip, avoiding the soul to reborn and reincarnate again. So why doesn't he commit suicide with this bullet and avoid all the troubles. What is the purpose of existing The Believers other than seek out for the egg to avoid the destruction of life on Earth? Therefore, to like the story, the viewer needs to turn off the brain and watch the good CGI only. My vote is four.
Title (Brazil): "Infinito" ("Infinite")
The Mists of Avalon (2001)
The End of an Age
There are many versions of King Arthur and Camelot, but "The Mists of Avalon" is certainly one of the most fascinating and beautiful films ever made. The story of the transition of the pagan gods to the Christianism is told through the eyes of Morgaine la Fey, wonderfully performed by Julianna Margulies. The lead characters are mostly composed by women, like Anjelica Huston (as Vivianne, the Lady of the Lake); Joan Allen (as Morgause); Samantha Mathis (as Gwenwyfar) and Caroline Goodall (as Igraine); therefore, the screenplay is very sensitive. For those like me that watched this film for the first time almost twenty years ago, it is also worthwhile watching again to recall this wonderful tale. My vote is nine.
Title (Brazil): "As Brumas de Avalon" ("The Mists of Avalon")
Very Good B-Movie
In Manhattan, Frances Hannon (Laila Robins) is walking with her dog on the sidewalk when she is kidnapped by two young men, Harry (Adrien Brody) and Handsome (Michael Henderson). They head to the outskirts of New York and bury her alive in the woods. Then they send the tape to her wealthy husband requesting one-million-dollar ransom. The emotionally disturbed detective Madeline 'Maddy' Foster (Maura Tierney), who is secretly masochistic and has a drinking problem, is assigned by her husband and captain Tim (Terry Kinney) to investigate the case and they conclude that Frances has only twenty-four hours of oxygen to breath. They succeed to catch Harry that proves to be a mastermind and she has only a few hours to try to find where Frances is. Will she succeed?
"Oxygen" is a very good B-movie, with Maura Tierney and Adrien Brody in the lead roles. Their performances are excellent and the duel between their characters is engaging. Maddy Foster is a totally believable character, with problems, weakness and very smart. The conclusion with an open end relative to the relationship of Maddy and Tim is another plus in this thriller. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "24 Horas para Morrer" ("24 Hours to Die")
The Wire: The Detail (2002)
Set in Motion
When the witness that accused the drug dealer D'Angelo Barksdale in court for committing the murder is found dead, Det. McNulty leaks the information to Judge Phelan that releases the information to the press. Lt. Daniels sets his worthless team in motion while trying to get better detectives for the investigation. Meanwhile Det. McNulty and his partner Det. William 'Bunk' Moreland bring D'Angelo Barksdale to the Police Department to press him to be whistle blower and disclose the murderer in his organization that killed the witness.
"The Detail" is a great sequel of "The Wire". Lt. Daniels is feeling how difficult will be the investigation with a worthless team of detectives, but he is in a very difficult situation to resign his position. My vote is eight.
Title (Brazil): "The Detail"
The Wire: The Target (2002)
In Baltimore, when the drug dealer D'Angelo Barksdale (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.) is considered not guilty by the jury in a murder case, Det. James 'Jimmy' McNulty (Dominic West) is summoned by Judge Daniel Phelan (Peter Gerety) to his office to discuss how the case was lost by the prosecutor. McNulty explains that the criminal is the nephew of the drug kingpin Avon Barksdale (Wood Harris) and the witnesses have been coerced by Avon and his right-hand Russell 'Stringer' Bell (Idris Elba). Further, McNulty discloses that there are seven other murder cases committed by Avon's crew that have not been investigated by the Police Department. Judge Phelan contacts the Powers That Be from the Police Department that are forced to assign a team under the command of Lt. Cedric Daniels (Lance Reddick), including McNulty, to investigate the cases. But soon Lt. Daniels see that the task will not be easy with the available manpower.
"The Target" is a crime police story TV series produced by HBO with a promising beginning. The plot is not the traditional, conventional, and full of clichés of the genre usual for this type of series. Indeed, it is realistic, with good and bad detectives. The cast is very real, at least in this first episode, and shows the other of the American society with losers in both sides of the law. My vote is eight.
Title (Brazil): "The Target"
The Samaritan (2012)
Uses the Main Idea of the Korean Oldboy
After serving twenty-five years in the prison for the murder of his partner Eddy, the grifter Foley (Samuel L. Jackson) is released with the intention to live an honest life. He seeks his probation officer and finds a job in a construction site. But soon Eddy's son Ethan (Luke Kirby) looks for him and offers a swindle to him, but Foley does not accept the proposal. Foley also meets the prostitute Iris (Ruth Negga) and soon they have a relationship. But the Machievelian Ethan has a secret and uses it to blackmail Foley to accept his proposed confidence game to lure a dangerous kingpin.
"The Samaritan" is a depressing film that uses the main idea of the Korean "Oldboy" (2003). The genre is confused but prevails a heavy drama. The blood type of a father is not necessarily compatible with his daughter, in an awful mistake in the film. Further, Iris tells that she would love to go to Rio and Maceió, but she ends in Havana. My vote is six.
Title (Brazil): "Jogos do Crime" ("Crime Games")
The Hunger: Room 17 (1997)
The Star in the Channel on the Cable TV
The traveling salesman Bart Brookman (Curtis Armstrong) is a complete loser in his profession and his marriage. When he stops for the night at a motel, he watches a porn channel and out of the blue, the actress Carla (Kim Feeney) talks to him. She gives a tip about a sale with another motel's guest and Bart raises a large amount. He gets addicted to Carla that becomes bolder in her demands.
"Room 17" is another intriguing episode of "The Hunger" with an interesting plot. Bart Brookman is a loser that becomes obsessed for a porn star that he meets in the cable television. Unfortunately, the conclusion is very poor and wastes a good storyline. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "Quarto 17" ("Room 17")
The Hunger: Bridal Suite (1997)
The newlyweds Peter Garson (Colin Ferguson) and Jenny Garson (Karen Elkin) travel by car in their honeymoon and stumble upon a lovely inn owned by the gentle Mrs. Garington (Sally Kirkland) and she asks whether Peter is faithful to Jenny. He says yes and the couple decides to stay for the night in the bridal suite. During the night, Jenny finds that Peter vanished. She seeks him along the night and soon she finds the secret of the bridal suite.
"Bride Suite" is another great episode of "The Hunger". The plot is intriguing and has a good conclusion. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "Suite Nupcial" ("Bridal Suite")
The Hunger: The Secret Shih Tan (1997)
So Far, The Best Episode
The prominent chef Craig Yun (Jason Scott Lee) inherited the restaurant f his retired Uncle Lee (Robert Ito) and now the successful place is croweded every day. When a man called Hugo Lawery (Kenneth Welsh) comes to his restaurant with the young Egzan (Gregoriane Minot Payeur), he offers the mysterious Shih Tan receipt book provided Craig Yun prepares one dish for a very selected guests at Hugo Lawery's house. Uncle Lee is against the proposal, but Craig decides to accept. Soon he learns the secret of the Shih Tan receipt book.
"The Secret Shih Tan" is, so far, the best episode of "The Hunger". The secret is not hard to guess, but the development of the story is excellent. The conclusion may surprise many viewers. My vote is eight.
Title (Brazil): "O Livro Proibido" ("The Forbidden Book")
The Hunger: Necros (1997)
In New Orleans, the wolf William Cobb (Philip Casnoff) sets his eyes on a woman called Helma (Céline Bonnier) and soon his friend Dino, who owns the restaurant and hotel where he is loged, explains that she is married with an old man called Nero (Leonardo Cimino) that the locals believe is the devil. William does not give up of Helma and soon they schedule an encounter. What is the secret of Nero?
"Necros" is another predictable tale of "The Hunger", but also with an intriguing story. The conclusion is not exactly what expected but is good. My vote is eight.
Title (Brazil): "Necros"
The Hunger: Menage a Trois (1997)
The gorgeous nurse Steph (Lena Headey) is hired by the handicapped Miss Gati (Karen Black) to take care of her. Miss Gati lives in an old house with his handyman Jerry (Daniel Craig), who unsuccessfully hits on Steph. But soon Steph changes her behaviour acting like a ninphomanic and having sex with Jerry the most different ways. What happened to Steph?
"Menage a Trois" is a predictable tale where is easy to understand the change of behavior of the nurse. The title itself is a spoiler. There is one scene where Lena Headley looks like the Blade Runner character performed by Daaryl Hannah. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "Trio" ("Trio")
The Hunger: The Swords (1997)
While in London, the wealthy America James Chandler (Balthazar Getty) meets two local youth and they go to a gay night-club. A man (Joe Duttine) invites James to leave the place and see the show of his protegée Musidora (Amanda Ryan). The performer has her belly penetrated by swords without bleeding and impresses the audience. On the next day, the man offers a private show of Musidora for James in his hotel room and they have one night stand. They continue to meet each other and a few days later, Musidora discloses to James that she is under a spell to protect her, but she can never fall in love for anybody. But soon she falls in love for James. What may happen to Musidora?
"The Swords" is an intriguing tale directed by Tony Scott. The mysterious character Musidora is mysterious and extremely gorgeous and makes worthwhile watching this short. The four-disc DVD Box released recently in Brazil by DarkFlix distributor has an error in the Menu, indicating the tales of Disc 4 (instead of Disc 1). My vote is eight.
Title (Brazil): "As Espadas" ("The Swords")
Night Eyes II (1991)
Shannon Tweed Makes This B-Movie Worthwhile Watching
While arriving at their mansion in Los Angeles, Vice-Consul Hector Mejenes (Richard Chaves) and his wealthy wife Marilyn Mejenes (Shannon Tweed) survive to an assassination attempt protected by his bodyguard Luis (Geno Silva). Marilyn requests protection to Detective Turner (John O'Hurley) and he recommends the security company of Will Griffith (Andrew Stevens). Soon Griffith and his partner Jesse Younger (Tim Russ) are hired by Hector to work under the supervisionof Luis. Hector sexually neglects his wife Marilyn and soon they have a love affair. But soon they find dirty secrets about Luis.
"Night Eyes II" uses the same character Will Griffith, performed by Andrew Stevens, in this erotic thriller. In the first movie, it was a sort of erotic neo-noir film and sexy Tanya Roberts was the femme-fatale in a reasonable story. Now, the gorgeous and sexy Shannon Weed performs a neglected wife with many hidden secrets about her husband. The plot, as usual, has many flaws and is silly but Shannon Tweed makes this B-movie worthwhile watching with her lovely face, eyes and body. My vote is five.
Title (Brail): "Olhos Noturnos" ("Night Eyes II")
Holly Gooding (Drew Barrymore) moves from New York to Los Angeles to visit her brother in a mental institution and rents the room of the aspirant writer Patrick Highsmith (George Newbern), who needs money to be not evicted. Soon they have a brief affair but the erratic behavior of Holly intrigues Patrick. He learns that she is followed by her doppelganger, and she has discussed the subject with her psychiatrist Doctor Heller (Dennis Christopher). What is happening to Holly? Does she have also a mental problem? Does she have a doppelganger?
"Doppelganger" is an intriguing horror movie from 1993, with the eighteen-year-old Drew Barrymore very sexy. In the 90's, this film was successful in the video rentals despite the poor conclusion. The plot holds the attention of the viewer, but unfortunately the conclusion is terrible. My vote is six.
Title (Brazil): "Enigma Mortal" ("Deadly Enigma")
The Dark Side of Copenhagen
In Copenhagen, the Iraqi surgeon Dr. Zaid (Dar Salim) lives a comfortable life with his pregnant wife Stine (Stine Fischer Christensen) in a fancy apartment. One night, while celebrating with friends the near end of the pregnancy period, his twenty-year old junkie brother Yasin (Anis Alobaidi) surprisingly arrives and asks for a large amount of money. Zaid refuses and soon Yasin is found beaten to death. Feeling guilty for the death of Yasin, Zaid goes to the precinct and finds belittle efforts from the detective in charge of investigating the murder case. Soon Zaid, who is black belt in kickboxing, returns to the training in the garage of a friend. He wears black, paints his motorcycle black and drives during the night through the underworld of Copenhagen seeking revenge for his brother. But he pays a high cost for his acts.
"Underverden", a.k.a. "Darkland", is a Danish action-thriller with a reasonable story of revenge but very entertaining like most films of this genre. The plot has good points, showing the dark side of Copenhagen, and the muslin community. But it is hard to believe that a surgeon with solid career and marriage throw thirty years of life in Denmark away to revenge the death of his junkie brother and with his family, friends and himself paying such high cost. Anyway, it is worthwhile watching this film. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "Guerreiro da Escuridão" ("Darkness Warrior")
Great TV Series That Has Not Aged
This is the first time that I watch this series from the 90's and surprisingly it has not aged (maybe only in the communication without cell phone). It is impressive the episodes, with handy camera, frenetic pacing, and scenes with interaction of many actors and actresses.
The First Season introduces mainly the lead and supporting cast, showing them as human beings with their failures, expertise and personal problems.
Dr. Mark Greene (Anthony Edwards) is the Chief Resident in the ER of the Chicago County General Hospital, married with a daughter. His career collides with his wife Jennifer´s career of lawyer and their marriage is near to end. He falls in depression after an error of a delivery, when the mother dies.
Dr. Doug Ross (George Clooney) is the pediatric resident and friend of Dr. Greene. Handsome, he is a wolf with co-workers and patients.
Dr. Susan Lewis (Sherry Stringfield) is the second-year resident and also friend of Dr. Greene. She has issues with her parents, has an affair with the unstable psychiatrist Dr. Div Cvetic and is deeply affected by her reckless sister Chloe Lewis (Kathleen Wilhoite), who is pregnant.
John Carter (Noah Wyle) is a talented third-year medical student from a wealthy family that expects to stay at the hospital in the surgery area, which is pending recognition and evaluation of his supervisor resident.
Carol Hathaway (Julianna Margulies) is the head nurse and tried to commit suicide after an affair with Dr. Doug Ross. She is recovering and is scheduling the marriage with Dr. John "Tag" Taglieri, who has unrequited love with her.
Dr. Peter Benton (Eriq La Salle) is the second-year resident in surgery that has problems in the relationship with his sister that takes care of their beloved mother that has Alzheimer. He has an affair with her physical therapist Jeanie Boulet (Gloria Reuben), who is married.
There are other characters usually well-developed. The best episode of this First Season is "Love's Labor Lost". My vote is eight.
Title (Brazil): "ER - Plantão Médico" ("ER - Medical Duty")
The Night Of (2016)
Outstanding TV Miniseries
"The Night Of" is an outstanding TV miniseries divided in eight parts as follows:
(1) "The Beach"
(2) "Subtle Beast"
(3) "A Dark Crate"
(4) "The Art of War"
(5) "The Season of the Witch"
(6) "Samson and Delilah"
(7) "Ordinary Death"
(8) "The Call of the Wild"
The storyline takes place in 2014, when the college student Nasir 'Naz' Khan (Riz Ahmed), who lives in Queen, is invited to a party in Manhattan. His ride blows him off and Naz decides to steal the taxi owned by his father and two partners and drives to Manhattan. He meets a young woman called Andrea Cornish (Sofia Black-D'Elia) by chance and he spends a night of sex with her in her place, playing Knife Game and using drinks and drugs. Naz awakes in the kitchen, and when he goes to the bedroom to say goodbye to Andrea, he finds her stabbed to death. Panicked and without recollection of what happened, Naz runs from the crime scene but is arrested after a traffic violation by two police officers and he goes to the 21st Precinct. After some hours, Detective Dennis Box (Bill Camp) finds evidence that Naz may be the murderer of Andrea and locks him in a cell. The ambulance chaser John Stone (John Turturro) sees Naz in the cell and offers his service, in the beginning of The Night Of.
This film is impressively realistic, without the glamour of other crime series like "Law and Order" or "Chicago P. D." and ambiguous since the killer's identity is not found. The performances are top-notch and the although the long running time, the viewer is kept in tension waiting to see the next parts asap. The most important, shows the consequences of a terrible police investigation to the protagonists of the story. The former college student Naz ends addicted in crack and with friction with his family and friends in the Pakistanis community. His father loses his taxi driver license and his partnership with two former friends and needs to pawn his few valuable goods. His mother loses her job and has to work as janitor. His brother has to be transferred to another school. The defense lawyer Chandra Kapoor (Amara Karan) loses her job and probably her bar. The retired Detective Dennis Box feels guilty for his poor investigation in his last assignment and is consumed by his faul. The prosecutor Helen Weiss (Jeannie Berlin) feels bad for her poor work and ignoring other information. Maybe only the lawyer John Stone and the inmate Freddy Knight (Michael Kenneth Williams) end the film without any change in their behavior. My vote is nine.
Title (Brazil): "The Night Of"
Body Language (1992)
The New Assistant
When Betsy Frieze (Heather Locklear) is promoted to business executive of the Orpheus Corporation, she feels pressed and harassed by her boss Charles Stella (Edward Albert) since she is the first woman to be promoted to a management position. Her relationship with her boyfriend Victor Keaton (James Acheson) is affected by her overwork, but Betsy is helped by her assistant Norma Suffield (Linda Purl), who is replacing the former secretary that vanished. The stressed Betsy does not realize that that Norma is a woman obsessed in her position and is jeopardizing her work and her personal life.
"Body Language" (1992) is a thriller made for TV in the same year of "Single White Female" that has many elements in common. The plot has many clichés and flaws and is totally predictable since the viewer knows the intention of Norma from the very beginning, but also entertains. My vote is six.
Title (Brazil): "Um Corpo de Mulher" ("A Body of Woman")
The Meg (2018)
Brainless but Entertaining B-Movie
A team of scientists is sponsored by the millionaire Jack Morris (Rainn Wilson) to research the Mariana Trench in the facility Mana One in the Pacific Ocean under the command of Dr. Minway Zhang (Winston Chao). While visiting the facility, Morris witnesses the submarine commanded by Lori (Jessica McNamee) with two scientists attacked and trapped by a huge creature and soon they lose contact with the base. The manager James "Mac" Mackreides (Cliff Curtis) convinces the group to summon the rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham), who was accused of leaving two members of his crew behind in a rescue operation in a submarine five years ago, and travels with Dr. Zhang to Thailand where Taylor leaves despite the protests of Dr. Heller (Robert Taylor) that participated also in of the former rescue mission. The reluctant Taylor accepts the assignment when he learns that his former wife Lori was piloting the submarine and heads with Mac and Zhang to Mana One. He befriends Dr. Zhang's daughter Suyin (Bingbing Li) and soon they all learn that a prehistorical predator Megalodon was released from the Mariana Trench and now endangering people on the nearby beaches.
"The Meg" is a brainless but entertaining B-movie directed by Jon Turteltaub. The plot recalls those old sci-fi films from the 50's with state-of-art special effects. Audiences that watch "The Meg" would neither expect an art house film nor an Oscar winner; therefore, the viewer sees a funny film with lots of action as expected. Many reviews are unfair. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "Megatubarão" ("Megashark")
Lady Chatterley: Episode #1.3 (1993)
Lady Chatterley, Her Husband and Her Lover
After the World War I, Sir Clifford Chatterley (James Wilby) returns home invalid in a wheelchair. His beloved young wife Lady Chatterley (Joely Richardson) accepts him in the beginning. But soon, the needy Lady Chatterley feels physically attracted by the gamekeeper Oliver Mellors (Sean Bean) and has an affair with him in the woods and in his cabin despite their difference of classes.
"Lady Chatterley" is an erotic romance by Ken Russell with the affair of an upper-class woman and with a humble working-class gamekeeper. The plot shows not only their affair, but also class struggle in the British system of the beginning of the Twentieth Century. The performances are excellent, and the reconstitution of the Sir Clifford Chatterley's home and costumes is amazingly beautiful. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "Lady Chatterley"
The Amy Fisher Story (1993)
"The Amy Fisher Story" is a 1993 American television film directed by Andy Tennant with Drew Barrymore in the lead role of the teenager Amy Fisher, who had an affair with the mechanic Joey Buttafuoco (Tony Denison) in Long Island. She has a crush on Joey and decides to kill his wife, shooting Mary Jo Buttafuoco (Laurie Paton). The well-known story was released in Brazil in VHS, but the screenplay is confused. For example, the prostitution of Amy Fisher is slightly shown in the movie and is not clear that Joey Buttafuoco suggested her to prostitute to get money. Amy Fisher is depicted as a spoiled and promiscuous teenager. Drew Barrymore is the only thing worthwhile watching in this forgettable film. My vote is four.
Title (Brazil): "Amy Fisher, a Ninfeta Assassina" ("Amy Fisher, The Killer Nymphet")
The Wretched (2019)
Messy Supernatural Film
"The Wretched" is a supernatural film with a messy screenplay and story. The idea of a snoopy teenager that finds a witch that feeds of children and make people around forget them is interesting. The creepy special effects are excellent. Unfortunately, the development of the story and characters is poor and with lack of many explanations. My vote is four.
Title (Brazil): "A Bruxa da Casa ao Lado" ("The Witch in the Next Door")
After the zombie outbreak in South Korea, Captain Jung Seok (Dong-won Gang) heads with his sister, her husband and their daughter to a vessel that will transport survivors to Japan. While sailing, an infected man attacks a group of survivors, killing them including Jung Seok's sister and nephew and the ship changes her course to Hong-Kong. South Korea is quarantined by the other countries to contain the outbreak.
Four years later Jung Seok and his brother-in-law Chul-min (Do-yoon Kim) are broken and outcast in Hong-Kong and South Korea is completely isolated. One day, they are contacted and invited to join a four-man team to retrieve a truck with US$ 20,000,000.00 in a place called Peninsula in the former North Korea. The mobster would transport the team to the Incheon Port during the night and they would bring the truck before the morning; in return, they would receive half of the money. However, they stumble upon a militia and the simple operation becomes a nightmare and only Jung Seok and Chul-min survive to an accident. How can they return to the ship that is waiting for them?
"Bando ", a.k.a. "Peninsula", is not exactly a sequel of excellent and tense "Train to Busan". The idea of Korea quarantined by other countries to contain the outbreak of the first film is the only connection with the original movie. The plot is indeed an action post-apocalyptic film with zombies and highly entertaining. My vote is seven.
Title (Brazil): "Invasão Zumbi 2: Península" ("Zombie Invasion 2: Peninsula")
The Marksman (2021)
In Arizona, the rancher Jim Hanson (Liam Neeson) lives alone in the Mexico border. Jim is a former Marine and widower that misses his wife, who died of cancer, and is completely broken since he spent his savings in hospital bill. His stepdaughter is Sarah Pennington (Katheryn Winnick), who is a border patrol agent, and Jim usually reports illegal crossings nearby his lands. When he sees the Mexican Rosa (Tereza Ruiz) and her son Miguel (Jacob Perez) attempting to cross the border, he reports to the border patrol but soon he learns that they are trying to escape from the drug cartel. Jim protects them and kills the brother of the cartel's leader Mauricio (Juan Pable Raba). However, Rosa dies too but she gives the address of her family in Chicago and asks Jim to deliver Miguel to her family. In return, she offers her bag that is full of money. The border patrol takes Miguel but soon Jim finds that the Mauricio wants to revenge the death of his brother and decides to help the boy, driving him to Chicago but with the cartel on their tail.
"The Marksman" is a reasonable thriller with a formulaic plot. Liam Neeson has great performance in a depressing role of a former marine that has no spot to die since he lost his lands and savings in the medical treatment of his beloved wife. The plot has holes and maybe the worst part is when Miguel and he burn the cartel money in a campfire. The conclusion is very sad. My vote is five.
Title (Brazil): "Na Mira do Perigo" ("In the Target of Danger")
Tales from the Hood 3 (2020)
Four Scary Tales
While escaping from an evil thing, an old man (Tony Todd) listens to four horror tales told by a young girl (Sage Arrindell).
1st "Ruby Gates") The landlord David Burr (London Brown) needs to evict his last tenant, the Bradford Family, from his apartment building to make lots of money in a profitable construction business. However, the family refuses to leave the place since their son is treating cancer in a hospital near to the building. David decides to hire a low life to burn down the Bradford apartment to get rid of the tenants, but things go wrong.
2nd "The Bunker") A racist man is alone in a bunker promoting a white supremacy, but something unexpected happens.
3rd "Operatic") The backing vocal Chela Simpson (Savannah Basley) has an argument with the lead singer and is fired. She meets the agent Park (Jaime M. Callica), who introduces her to the former opera singer Marie Benoit (Lynn Whitfield), who is a wealthy woman and needs a caregiver. When Park convinces Chela to kill Marie to use her money to promote her career, she learns dark secrets.
4th "Dope Kicks") A small time thief robs defenseless people to rob wallets, cellphones, and sneakers. When he accidentally kills a victim, his aunt conjures a curse that affects his life.
In general, the tales are predictable but entertains fans of horror movies. My vote is six.
