Chance (2016–2017)
5/10
Unfortunately it is serious
29 January 2018
I just finished watching season 1 and with this I am done. The last 3 episodes were a drag with no thrill or surprises at all. Speaking of surprises... well, there was just one for me: they really meant it this way. I was expecting, hoping for a twist, several twists, something meaningful that would make sense, but it never happened. You get what you see and what you see is what it is: Chance is unsympathetic, weak and rather stupid, lacking House's charisma completely. The schizophrenic mystery woman is just that. The bad cop is just that. No twists and turns for the better. The childhood secrets just confirm, what we already know. Superficial and quite disappointing with rare pieces of too much blood and gore.

His role of a lifetime
28 January 2016
I truly missed Jesse Stone and was sad, when the rumors were up for no other movies. But now he is back and he is back in all the wonderful, slow, atmospheric glory I could have hoped for.

I loved everything about Lost In Paradise, first of all Tom Selleck's wonderful acting, the great cinematography, the superb score, the well known and always great cast and of course Steve.

The case after 2 years of "fighting crime" was an interesting one and interesting enough for Jesse to fight his loneliness and his search for meaning.

If you haven't watched any Jesse Stone movies, give them chance, start at the beginning and enjoy all the way through.

This is emotional crime drama at its best.

Master of None: Indians on TV (2015)
Season 1, Episode 4
10/10
Best episode so far
8 November 2015
Indians on TV was a wonderful episode about contact with your grandparents or old people in general. The light-hearted episode came with a lot of tragicomic humor addressing so many issues about contact, about loneliness, about the fascination of the experience of people a younger generation can learn so much from, if only they would listen or take the time. The robot seal PARO finally nailed it. So sad that it's funny, so funny that it's sad. There were no bad guys and no one to blame, no one particularly without care - and that's a masterful achievement in telling a story. It had superb acting and directing, great music. If you haven't seen this episode or feel insecure about giving this nice show a try: this one is worth it.

The Stink of Flesh (2005 Video)
1/10
disgusting, badly acted amateurish movie
31 May 2005
Warning: Spoilers
There are lots of people out there, who obviously view their movies a whole lot differently than I do. They don't care about plot, acting, script, score but for action, blood and lots of gore. The Stink of Flesh was exactly made for these people. The directors had fun in creating dumb scenarios for zombie fights wherever possible and there is blood and guts and big nails... The acting is terrible, but IMHO this is not the fault of the actors, who really try to do their best, but of bad directing. The story is... not what I expect from a story to be one, just an addition of scenarios. The action... never ever have I seen more box fighting of zombies than in this movie. Still the action is the thing the directors did quite well. And as for a zombie movie the action comes along with lots of gory makeup effect which are also quite well done and acceptable for a low budget production. If you like scary movies, do not watch this. But if you like trashy, gory fun-action-splatter movies, this is one to consider.

Unleashed (2005)
7/10
Leon the professional in a different dress
16 May 2005
Warning: Spoilers
When I saw Unleashed I did often think about Leon the professional with Jean Reno, the utmost dangerous killer, who meets someone to love (not sexually), to finally get to know love and the value of life. The final battle is against an entire army. These are interesting similarities, another one is that both have speech and educational lacks and live a completely unsocial life. Also both do have masters whose morality is at least dubious. Still Leon did touch me far more than Unleashed was able to. Jet Li's performance is great, he acts so innocent and as well very believable as a killing machine. I was really impressed. The fighting scenes were all very well shot and the silent parts, with a nice old man Morgan Freeman are just great to watch.

Collateral (2004)

Cruise as a killer? This time he messed up..
15 August 2004
This movie was predictable and boring. There was no chemistry between the main actors and the acting itself was badly done. Cruise moved slowly and no one would believe the tough cold-blooded killer, ready to take out an army of enemies, just because he is so conscious and so well trained - he was not! Jean Reno (Leon the professional) was a tough one and even Denzel Washington (Man on Fire) was really tough and well trained. Cruise character could never decide between nice guy and mean bad guy. To much talking, to much meaningful looks...I am truly disappointed by this one. And then the strange coincidence in the end...I could not believe that...and that was, when the movie became a complete waste of time for me.

The Village (2004)
10/10
Another piece of art
4 August 2004
Now what did they expect from a movie made by M.Night Shyamalan? Something straight...no way. When I watched "The Village" I was ready for it, ready for this great director and his very special way of creating movies. When I first watched "SIGNS", i did not like it, because of my expectations. I expected something big, something outstanding and the entire movie was in such a small location. No spaceships, no ray-guns...and weird looking aliens. But somehow I realized that there was more to "SIGNS" than what disappointed by and when I watched it later on on DVD, it was a great movie with so much depth and feeling. It was ... intense. And that is exactly where I started getting ready for the village: I was expecting something intense and this was exactly what I got. A beautifully shot movie with very well developed and acted characters and a story, revealing and shocking. I will give no spoilers. When you enter "The Village" you should do exactly that. Enter it. Be a part of it to get to feel what the inhabitants feel. Then, I promise, you will see probably the best movie this year has to offer.

Jacob's Ladder (I) (1990)
9/10
Find your truth for yourself to let go
18 September 2003
What a fascinating movie. Probably this is the only Adrien Line movie not so much about sex (although there is a bit in it), but through a wild exploration of someone who lost control of all his life and really longs to get it back. Jacob Singer is a nice guy. His Vietnam history has not changed that, but is a reason for weird nightmares, that get more an more real until he is no longer able to differ nightmare from reality. And inbetween there is always these flashbacks of the war... This movie is very well cut. The different stories all reveal more and more of the true background and the end is really astonishing and revealing all there is to answer. Tim Robbins does a great job, and not less unforgettable is Danny Aiello as the Chiropractisist. This is a horror movie and it causes weird feelings and fear. Be prepared to see shaking heads everywhere...
