Brexit: The Uncivil War (2019)
A lot of Vital Info is missing in this version
Vote Leave and the official Remain campaign Britain Stronger in Europe were allowed to spend £7m each on campaigning in the run up to the referendum.
The government (Remain) spent more than £9m (in addition to the 7mil) on sending a leaflet to every UK household setting out the case for remaining in the European Union. The 14-page document, was sent to 27 million homes, responding to public demand for more details about the EU referendum by setting out the facts behind the government's position.
On 14 September 2018, the High Court ruled that the advice given by the Electoral Commission to Vote Leave as requested, misinterpreted EU referendum spending laws. Anti-Brexit campaigner and Labour peer Lord Adonis said: "It sounds to me as if the Electoral Commission has not been doing its job properly. On the face of it, it seems to have been extremely incompetent." An Electoral Commission spokesperson said it welcomed the court's "consideration of this aspect of electoral law" and said it had reached the same conclusion as a subsequent commission investigation, which resulted in fines being issued to Vote Leave and Darren Grimes
The Clovehitch Killer (2018)
Buffy and Co meet Serial Killer
7/10 This started so well, the modus operandi of a serial killer is depicted very well, its a pity they had to introduce Buffy the vampire killer into the plot.
A Poor Account !
This is a very poor account of the Brexiteers of the UK. There is no start middle or end, brexit started in 1973; this hodge podge should have better spent their money elsewhere, the BBC did a podcast called "Brexit: A Love Story?" - Impartial, well researched, educational, and above all, very well narrated! Highly recommend! THIS is TRASH
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
A must see for Generation X
8/10 : A must see for generation X, the Live Aid performance was well done, I can tell you coz I went to that gig, he stole the show by a very long shot.... he made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end ...the rush was of his performance was epic, I hate to say it, but was mystical, on that day he had everyone of the 100k+ people in the palm of his hand, I've never seen anything like that before or since..
My Teacher, My Obsession (2018)
Ever since Fatal Attraction 1987, people have tried to remake the bunny boiler movie. All remakes have fallen short of hitting the mark, this movie too. Any one looking to bang heads with Glenn Close and Michael Douglas better rethink and come up with a banging plot.
Loving Pablo (2017)
The story of Pablo has been told so many times!
All things considered this is not a bad movie, its just that the story of Pablo has been told so many times and this movie is not one that shines very bright. The story from his lovers perspective is unique, however it lacks any depth. I don't think many people will stump up millions more for a story that's been flogged to death, it would need to be a 3 part story like the Godfather but hey Narco's is one better IMO
7/10: A true story which I gave 6/10 but then
José Padilha introduced interpretative dance to the film, which kinda worked... I think, I had to give it an extra point for the novel idea.... but the jury's still out for me for this one, not sure I'd watch it again!
The Titan (2018)
If you dont like sifi dont watch it - the story has a good structure and the acting is acceptable. Sure its not the best sifi movie but it is unique, I can see this becoming a trilogy
Calla Lily (2015)
I don't the point in making this movie
The story had the potential of being very interesting, however, the director Mark Penney, felt it would he would make more of an impact if it was made with an "artistic" flare. Mark's attempts to make the movie interesting by using various camera's and filters used shooting the movie, fails IMO
The Journey (2016)
8/10 Sometimes peace is accepting to agree to disagree and shake that persons hand and move on, these two politicians did just that.
"The Journey" offers a highly speculative version of the conversation that put an end to the conflict in Northern Ireland that has come to be known as the Troubles.
Actors Timothy Spall and Colm Meany both portray their roles powerfully. Their verbal sparring and give-and-take maneuverings make for a compelling performance.
I couldn't get past the first 15 minuets, the acting is so poor I began to get a headache. I'm a big fan of B movies but this is a z movie zzzzzzzzzzzz. I have no idea why people make such films it really is a wast of money; they would be better investing it in a picture with bigger fish to fry.I gave 2 ...1 for picking up the camera and 2 for turing it on. Please don't attempt to make a movie again, thanks
Oranges and Sunshine (2010)
.a correlation ???
Oranges and Sunshine (film) & Anne Hamilton-Byrne (Messiah) ...a correlation ???There appears to me ...a correlation with the events in this film and the cult of & Anne Hamilton-Byrne. Anne Hamilton-Byrne She (Anne) gathered young boys and girls and raised them as her own on a property in Lake Eildon in central Victoria. Some children were obtained through questionable adoptions, others were born to cult members and some were even handed over by compliant sect parents. The identically dressed children, with bleached blonde hair shaped into the same bob, were allegedly bashed, starved and injected with LSD by Hamilton-Byrne and other cult leaders in terrifying sect initiation rituals. Oranges and Sunshine Set in 1980s Nottingham, social worker Margaret Humphreys holds the British government accountable for child migration schemes and reunites the children involved -- now adults living mostly in Australia -- with their parents in Britain.
The Last Face (2016)
Emotional - Brutality - Art
A very graphic depiction of the horrors of war in Africa and a love story.
The acting is beyond reproach; which allows for the lack of depth to the plot. The plot; that of a love affair between two field doctors who struggle with their job (vocation) and their feelings for each other. The cinematography is excellent; coupled with the sound track makes for a emotional experience.
I watched it back to back 2x the same evening.
A Family Man (2016)
Important msg - Average Performances
The story line was very predictable and the acting was just about watchable. People living the dog eat dog world of money and consumerism who plan or have a family should watch this. This move is a must watch for the content not the music or acting. Gerard Butler aka "The Headhunter" performance deserves 5/10 for confirming the greed of the headhunting business.
Joe's War (2017)
A fair account of PTSD
I suppose its a good movie depicting the effects of PTSD, however, the cinematography, acting, music and depth of plot lets this movie down. Having watched this, I'm now inclined to watch The Deer Hunter (1978) again for the 100th time,it is with out a doubt the best film of its kind.
The Hatton Garden Job (2017)
The Best movie currently about this hist
It lost a point for the music or lack of creativity,2nd had to be the lack of truth, there was some artistic license a good eg would be the tool they used, a very niche tool, certainly not what you find at a flea market. The 3rd: depth of the plot or lack of. Over all a good interpretation of events.
Blood Feud (2016)
Not worth the 1 it take to watch the movie
This is a rehash of the film Stand up guys
After 12 years, Mickey gets out of prison, and his friend and partner in crime Paul a reformed man and a church goer catches up with him up. The local mob boss, Ray, wants Mickey dead (Rays' son died in a robbery and he blames Mickey) and Paul has until morning to kill him. It's a long night: Mickey wants to party - they visit a cat house; Mickey needs Viagra, so visits the local drug dealer. After a while they and much consideration they both become reformed men. The men decide to confront Ray and resolve the bad blood. Ray ends up taking his own life. Not a very good film Stand up Guys much better.
Frontline: Storm Over Everest (2008)
I've always thought about climbing this mountain, after watching this I've decided not pursue this life prise.
I believe the people who do climb this mountain are troubled people. I do (not admire) respect all who do climb this mountain, however, I don't think their thirst /desire to push themselves to the point of near death will never be quenched.
Im all for pushing yourself, but to come so close to death is a little to macabre for me.The single-mindedness required to attempt a mountain like Everest is a thoroughly selfish trait.
A great account of a terrible event.
A portrait of the contemporary commercial fishing industry. Filmed off the coast of New Bedford, Massachusetts – at one time the whaling capital of the world as well as Melville's inspiration for 'Moby Dick'; it is today the country's largest fishing port with over 500 ships sailing from its harbor every month. Leviathan follows one such vessel, a hulking ground fish trawler, into the surrounding murky black waters on a weeks- long fishing expedition.
I was looking forward to it but really was quite rubbish. No character development, no plot, no dialog, no anything really except a bunch of monotonous visuals.Tried to watch it twice, gave up the first time and dozed off the second time. Don't waste time watching it.Very pointless.
