Brilliant show! Must watch it!
16 April 2014
I just finished watching the pilot for this show, and it was a "wow", a top notch level of excellence.

It might be too early to say it is a potential Emmy-winner or other awards winner show just by the first episode, but I would say it is on the "MUST SEE" list.

I've never watched the classic film "Fargo", so I didn't have any preperception of comparing the film to the show. It is just simply amazing with excellent direction, ACTING, and scene setup.

Billy Bob Thornton did a great job showing a baddie with such a power of manipulation. As usual, his performance is fantastic.

Martin Freeman's performance is just perfect, and he surprises me a lot by changes in his body shape, reactions, and the accent. It is just amazing that an English can do such unique northern American accent.

Performance from other actors are also compelling and excellent as well. It's comfortable and joy to watch their performance.

Definitely recommended!

Go watch it and watch it in HFR--EPIC
31 December 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Well, I honestly don't know why so many people are annoyed by the movie itself and the new technology.

First, for the movie itself, you have to admit that it is a very good movie and you have to know that it is the first part of a trilogy. The movie does tell a good story that comes from the book, and if you really have watched the LOTR trilogy, you can definitely notice a lot of details that are giving respects to the LOTR. I'm not a big ringer, but when I saw those beautiful scenes in Shire, when old Bilbo starts with "my dear Frodo", and when young Bilbo saying "I'm going on an adventure" to Sam's dad...all old memories came to me, all those feelings that the LOTR has brought just appeared in my mind. And when Bilbo picks up the ring, I almost cried. Many people are saying "oh, the pace is so slow", well, I don't know what to say to them, did you feel it's so long when you are watching Titanic? This movie is telling a story that Bilbo comes out from his comfortable bag end and starts a big journey, and in my opinion, all of those scenes and lines are necessary.

In terms of acting and story telling, I don't want to say much because ALL OF THEM are amazing, they are doing a very good job. I guess the main line of the movie is when Gandalf tells Bilbo "the true courage is about knowing not when to take a life, but when to spare one" later, when Bilbo has a chance to kill Gollum, he just let it go. And all those major scenes are really amazing and I really enjoyed them very much.

Finally, the HFR new technology. I guess like every new thing that comes at the first time, it always gets some people freaked out. But please go watch it, it doesn't ruin the movie, it's a big improvement! I watched the movie in both IMAX 3D and 3D HFR. They are different, and I actually felt more comfortable when I was watching 3D HFR because my eyes can catch the movement much easier. HFR does NOT mean slow, it means clearer! So just go watch it, if you haven't watched it in HFR, go! and if you have, go watch it again! It's epic, and I'm looking forward to seeing the second and the third part, I know they will be fantastic!

Life of Pi (2012)
10/10
Amazing movie
21 November 2012
I gave this film 10/10 because it is really touching and lets people think about things around us. I didn't expect it that good since I haven't read the book. Probably Ang Lee's directing made me want to see how it works, but it turned out very amazing. The film is not perfect, you can see some goofs in it. It is a sight feast in terms of pictures. The whole story and journey that Pi had been through is well told, and at last Pi told a different story, which really made me think about things around us. Many times what we believed is perhaps not the truth...but when we find something that is worth to believe, we shouldn't let it go even if we may lose everything we cared about, they will come back eventually...Anyway, it is really a good movie, worth to watch!
