better than the usual tv thriller
19 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A foreign exchange student from Scotland - at least they used a real Scottish actress, feels scared and moves in with a helpful girl and she turns out to have a resemblance to her dead sister. For spring break they return to the small town where the helpful girl comes from and there's some creepiness going on including over protective parents. A Stepford like conspiracy is in the air.

It's better than the usual standard stalker fare. Teri Polo and Dylan Walsh play the parents so the cast is better than average for TV movie thriller.

Worth a watch.

Well intentioned but miscast
18 January 2019
This well meaning movie shows the discrimination RBG faced as a woman lawyer and her struggle to win her first landmark case on sexual discrimination. It's a dry topic but the movie tries hard to make it interesting. A bit more scope on her subsequent accomplishments would have been better than just spending all the time on one case.

The casting is puzzling. Felicity Jones is wrong for the role. She has a sweet English face. Not only does she not have the physical look of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, she doesn't act passionately intellectual. Armie Hammer is just too tall and too good looking for the role of Martin Ginsburg. Totally out of place. What were they thinking?

Not as good as it could have been.

Funny duo in Europe
17 January 2019
Both Mila and Kate's talents are used well in this European trip spy comedy spoof. The car chase fights are funny and the violence is comical and original. Laugh out loud at times and unexpectedly so. It's not easy to be originally funny but they are here.

Pretty veteran and judge fall in love
17 January 2019
A bit different from the usual Hallmark Christmas movie - no little business that need saving. A pretty veteran Elioise Mumford who deals with dogs has a car accident and meets a single eligible judge Sean Faris.

They are both likeable if a little if unrealistically photogenic. They do have chemistry.

If you have to choose 1 Hallmark movie for this Christmas this would be an okay one.

Hand that Rocks the Cradle formula
16 January 2019
A girl poses as caregiver to avenge her fathers death. It's the same formula as The Hand that Rocks the Cradle. It is fairly interesting and it works.

The difference here is an autistic child. Other than that it's not too great.

Ok for one watch but not a must see.

Different kind of obsession
16 January 2019
Slightly different type of obsession here where a couple who lost their young girl after she goes missing thinks that this young teacher 20 years later is her.

Starts off fairly plausible then gets far fetched as they go psycho and kidnap her.

Why didn't she just some DNA?

Anyway it's not unwatchable but not great either.

Unlikely scenario
16 January 2019
Unlikely scenario of a reality star who becomes obsessed with a teenage girl. Why her? No good reason. Things play out routinely by Lifetime thriller standards.

Not a must watch.

Implausible and irritating
15 January 2019
After her daughter is taken by her ex con ex boyfriend a woman has to follow his instructions to get her back including alienating everyone in her life and getting money to pay him. It isn't believable how he can keep tabs on her every move. And it's annoying how she has to do all these things but you want to see it to the end.

Not a must watch.

Very watchable story - charming Eastwood
15 January 2019
It is admirable that Clint Eastwood in his late eighties can still do so much on and off screen.

This interesting story draws the viewer in and the character gets the sympathy. It's cute and fun to see how he shuffles along as an elderly driver of cocaine.

After just watching Narcos Mexico this is a welcome change with the comic relief aspect. Michael Pena is everywhere now DEA in both shows. The supporting cast is A list with DEA agent Bradley Cooper.

Worth a watch.

An abused girl gets raped and kidnapped
14 January 2019
A girl is kidnaped and raped while blindfolded but when she is released no one believes her except a cop played by David James Elliot.

Her family members are unbelievable. Her freaking grandma and Mother are worse than the perp! Allowing her to be abused.

The actress is sweet and acts well. Things get interesting when they start to solve the crime.

Worth watching.

Atmospheric thriller by Lifetime standards
14 January 2019
This suspense movie a darker tone than usual for Lifetime. Josie Davis stars as a woman who lives on an isolated farm with her daughter. After losing her husband in a robbery she becomes nervous and housebound. Josie acts quite well. Her daughter discovers some money on the property.

Ryan Paevey acts as a mysterious man who supposedly runs out of gas and takes shelter during a storm. Is he here for the money?

It's quite involving to see what happens.

Hope at Christmas (2018 TV Movie)

She doesn't deserve him
14 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is really the epitome of fantasy for housewives. A rather testy and irritating divorced mom goes back to a small town for Christmas. There, a hot guy conveniently widowed is all sensitive and kind and totally into her. What a perfect guy would be so gaga for a single mom. She can treat him badly and it's alright cause it's Hallmark. The little drama at the end is annoying.

Hallmark should concentrate on making slightly different stories for their Christmas movies. It's the same story again. Give up big city for small town.

Likeable cast
14 January 2019
A couple of meddling kids try to get their parents to fix their marriage over the Christmas in Palm Springs while handling some work projects. Dina Meyer is pretty as always and she is paired with her Starship Troopers costar Patrick Muldoon. They are likeable together.

The story isn't that interesting and the kids are a little annoying. As far as these holiday movies go it's an average story with a nice cast.

Involving
13 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Interesting and involving premise. A nurse and her high flying lawyer fiancé are in a car accident that kills the other driver. He frames her for it to protect his career.

Katrina Bowden is the nurse and she is quite watchable. The scumbag fiancé is played by Jason Shane Scott. It's quite fun to see how she gets justice with the dead man's wife.

Mom to the rescue
13 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The Taken formula usually works to get you interested. So this abduction and rescue movie starts fairly involving.

Katrina Begin is attractive as ex hostage negotiator Mom. A slew of other familiar faces helps make this more watchable. Joey Lawrence as cheating Dad, David Chokachi as ex partner cop who helps Mom.

Some rather lame things like accusing her ex partner of taking her daughter. The perpetrator is kind of pathetic.

Ok for one watch but not great.

Hostage drama - pretty standard but watchable
13 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is a Lifetime hostage drama. The story is quite formula. A Wife and mother meets up with a childhood best friend who is involved with a bag guy. Her family gets held at gun point while she has to go retrieve some incriminating evidence from her office.

The cast is attractive. Rosslyn Luke is pretty and watchable. The villain looks too clean cut.

Too much back and forth with the gun during the final fight sequences.

Ok for one watch.

Quite exciting and involving
13 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Interesting premise and good execution. A widow moves in recently to a gated community near her Mother in law's retirement home. She falls for the son of another retiree. Meanwhile one of the neighbours who is involved in security obsesses over her. Not much of a surprise who the villain is. It's pretty obviously revealed quite early on. But things are quite scary for Lifetime standards as he goes after her mother in law etc.

Worth a watch.

Poor choices make poor viewing
12 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The girl in question isn't that interesting. The story isn't that unique either - no unusual murder. It's just about a girl who mixed pills and booze and drowned in her tub. The story shows her various lovers, straight laced, married, douche bag lawyer, etc. The actress Caitlin acts well.

In the end though this is Not worth making a movie about.

A cautionary tale - quite educational stay around for the later part
12 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is a little slow initially when it comes to getting the wackoness going but at least it's not too far fetched. It turns into a pretty good cautionary tale. A woman sends her computer for repair. Somehow this guy gets her info and woos her knowing all the things in common. He's a bit too intense and they break up and then things start getting interesting when he starts doing things with the information. Cash draining from her bank account, fake reviews in her name, sabotaging her work with risqué photos, plagiarism etc. The things people can do with online identity range far beyond just credit card fraud. It's quite eye opening.

The cast is nice - Rosalie the main actress is pretty. Drew Seeley has been doing some Lifetime wackos lately and he's pretty effective.

Worth a watch.

Colleague is the wack job of the week
12 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Drew Seeley stars as the wack of the week, a geeky tech guy who obsesses over his colleague played by Karissa Lee Staples. He carefully offs her fiance, she relocates then he offs her nasty new boss, injures her new boyfriend. Drew plays it quite well - he's not really that geeky just man bangs and a creepy stare. So he acts quite well as mama's boy as well. It's all quite tongue in cheek funny. The supporting cast is quite good too with Kayla Ewell as her sister and Brian Ames as the new boyfriend.

Worth a watch.

Don't be too nice to strangers
11 January 2019
For once the title "no good deed" is accurate. When a beauty store owner (Haley Webb) lets a stranger in distress room with her she gets a wacko who won't let go.

The wacko of the week is well played by Haley Pullos. She is quite effective and it's good to see how she worms her way in and obsesses about her victim past man Friend and present so called sorority Sister.

Well done.

She's out of his league
11 January 2019
A writer starts a relationship with a neighbour she has been spying on. Madeline Zima from the Nanny is all grown up and while she is sweet she is not sexy enough for this type of romantic obsession movie. Can't buy the guy being so into her. She's a bit out of his league.

Don't think Lifetime should do this kind of movie.

Avoid this badly written mess
11 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A business man gets kidnaped in the Caymans. The kidnapping doesn't gel with the rest of the story. Just thrown together. The acting is bad too.

A step back for Lifetime thrillers. Better off making based on true story movies than this nonsense.

Stay till the end it's a bit better than the usual wacko surrogate movie.
10 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
There have been a bunch of wacko surrogate movies in Lifetime so this one has to have something different. The wackoness isn't that unique but this one is nicely done. The ending makes it worth while. Like the way the couple takes things into their own hands. Like the victimised couple too they avoid being annoying.

Kelly Rutherford shines in this refreshingly different Hallmark romance
10 January 2019
So wonderful to see the elegant and beautiful Kelly Rutherford in a lead romantic Hallmark movie. She deserves to be the star of many a TV movie - she's so watchable. She has chemistry with her co star Cameron Mathison. They are age an appropriate pairing and compatible looks wise.

The territory covered in this story isn't overly familiar Hallmark stuff like saving the small business. Instead we follow a single mom sending her girl off to college where she meets a professor. She helps to plan a Harvest Festival in the college and they gradually fall in love but not in a cheesy way that sometimes plagues Hallmark romances. She gets sick He brings soup. They face a few geographical hurdles which is quite realistic and not contrived.

McKenzie Vega of The Good Wife seems a strange choice to be her daughter since she doesn't look like her at all. Not that they had to get Blake Lively but at least someone a bit more similar.
