House of the Dead (2003)
Oh my goodness! I have honestly never seen so many people walk out of a movie theatre in history. There was a constant stream like a fast flowing river of people rushing down the cinema aisles! I stuck the movie out but just because I have a policy. The policy is to never walk out of a film - you never know it may get better. OK so that didn't happen on this occasion.
For those of you who haven't seen this film, it is about a group of rich students who want to go to a rave on an island and it turns out there are a bunch of dead guys killing everyone. To be honest with you... that's about as far as the plot goes. The acting in this film is dire. It is full of poor one liners and cheesy lines. So many flaws: OK, these students get a lift with a fisherman who is wanted by this cop woman for smuggling weapons - SMUGGLING WEAPONS! He had 3 wooden boxes each with 1 gun in! They were going to what was supposed to be the biggest rave of the century - there looked like there was about 12 people there - I've had bigger garden parties!
Before I saw this movie someone said to me - it's dawn of the dead meets The Matrix - how I laughed. The reference to the matrix is bullet time - really bad bullet time at that, and the reference to Dawn of the Dead is dead people. This movie had lots of killing of dead people - the fighting scenes were so messy - they were just a series of close ups all muddled up with some bullet time thrown in.
I have a UGC Unlimited card so was not too riled by the fact that I saw this film however, I feel sorry for any paying cinema goer who paid six English pounds to see this drivel!
