The Fighter (I) (2010)
the movie may be enjoyable but DON'T BUY THE DVD!!!!!
18 March 2011
I gave this 5 out of 10, because i haven't yet been able to actually WATCH the movie. I rented the "DVD" and I can say that THE DVD DOES NOT WORK!!! I have several DVD players, and this disc did not work in any of them. When I first put the DVD in, an error message popped up reading that the disc was unplayable. On the second attempt it just played the movie studio intro over and over repeating the first 9 seconds endlessly. Finally on a different DVD player, the movie DID start, except it skipped to halfway into the movie and had no sound. This disc was new and had no scratches. I'm assuming that they attempted to put so many different copy-protection schemes on this disc that it is no longer a true DVD. avoid the disc. wait for it to be available through netflix streaming or some other means.

Blindness (2008)
neat concept, poorly executed
16 February 2009
Warning: Spoilers
When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I immediately thought "what a cool concept!" I thought it seemed like a really cool idea. I figured I would enjoy this movie if for no other reason than the concept of it seemed fairly original, unlike most of the movies that were being released near that time. Unfortunately I did not really like the movie. While I agree that the movie was in fact at least a somewhat original idea (no i haven't read the book). It still managed to be quite boring for long periods of time. At one point I even considered turning it off, but I decided to continue watching because I needed to know how it would all be resolved. Unfortunately there seemed to be no resolution. One day the Asian guy (the first character we were introduced to in the movie) could magically see again. No explanation. No explanation of how this all started. No explanation of how Julianne Moore's character retained her sight the entire time. No explanations at all. The origin of the outbreak, the cause of it etc. were really the only things that made this seem interesting, and they never mentioned any of that at all. This movie was a major disappointment.

Also, Mark Ruffalo is rather annoying and unlikable. I don't know what it is, but I find his voice to be especially annoying.

Skip this movie. Don't waste your time.

Se7en (1995)
not just the "head in a box movie"

Warning: Spoilers
One of the best serial killer movies ever, and also one of the best detective movies! This movie is great. David Fincher is one of the best movie director's. All of his movies (with the exception of Alien3) are interesting stories, and visually beautiful. This movie was made at a time when Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, and Kevin Spacey were all amazing actors. Since then they've all been in a few really bad movies. If you haven't yet watched this movie, go watch it NOW!!! The plot development is perfect. the acting, directing, and plot line were very well done. I don't know what else to say about this movie that hasn't already been said countless times, but this is definitely one of my favorite movies of all time. One of the best movies from the 1990s. A must see!

Thick as Thieves (I) (2009)
Totally Boring
13 February 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I think Morgan Freeman is a really good actor, and that's the main reason why I wanted to watch this movie. I also usually enjoy heist films, so i figured I would enjoy this movie. Boy, was I wrong! The plot line of this movie barely makes any sense. The characters are not interesting in the slightest way. The heist itself had no suspense. The ridiculous "romance" between Antonio Banderas' character and the blonde Russian woman is not engaging, believable, or even essential to the story line. It's as if the producers of this film got Freeman to sign on for it, and THEN began writing the movie. Totally retarded! Also, visually it looked like a made for cable movie. The lighting was off in a weird way, and the scenery showed parts of New York and then mysteriously some Eastern European city patched in. If you enjoy suspense movies, or good dramas, or good acting I suggest you avoid this movie. It is a major disappointment.
