Grand Theft Auto IV (2008 Video Game)

If GTA IV was Star Wars, then GTA V is the Empire Strikes Back
15 September 2019
Compared with GTA V, GTA IV has no online mode and is a hard game. Also, you control only one character instead of three. It's also the first GTA game to come out on two consoles, the ps3 and the xbox 360 and became at the time the biggest entertainment launch ever, which has since eclipsed by other Rockstar games like GTA V and Red Dead 2.

My guilty pleasure of 2019
15 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
If Gigli was her low point, then this movie is her comeback. This movie is loosely based on true events about strippers and the wall street cats who pay them to pleasure the guys. Then in 2008 everything comes down and it's up to the girls to recover from what happened. In the end, everyone goes to jail and then are free and reuniting and dancing in the end. Very well done, shot great sound mix good and this movie is not for kids even though there's hardly any nudity featuring females just one male nudity scene. Highly recommended and I like to see J Lo win best supporting actress.

Not as good as the original
13 September 2019
When this came out 10 years ago, it found itself in a cramped horror space. That year, Final Destination came out in 3d, My Bloody Valentine was remade in 3d, Saw was turning 5 years old, and horror was all over the place. The modest success of this film spawned a hit video game and a revived interest in the franchise for millenials as well as gen zers.

Jason X (2001)
3/10
The silliest of the movies
13 September 2019
Most people think of Jason X as Friday the 13th in space. It is. Made to capitalize on the sci-fi craze of the late 1990s and early 2000s, this film, the tenth in the franchise, sucks.

Why new line, why?
13 September 2019
When this film came out, it was the same year as Jurassic park and failed to connect with audiences the same way Paramount did with its Friday movies. It took about 9 years before Jason returned to space, and in not a good way. The following year, he teamed up with Freddy and the box office improved greatly. Then came the reboot, which did ok. And then the video game.

This is when the series jumped the shark....
13 September 2019
30 years ago this year, Paramount released this movie to a muted response from the public, and it's easy to see why...it's been five years since Freddy became the biggest horror icon in box office history, Michael Myers returned for a bit, and horror was everywhere. Jason, meanwhile, decided to go to Manhattan and kill more people. The failure of this movie forced Gulf and Western's Paramount to sell the rights to New Line, and the rest is history.

The only good one left before he took Manhattan
13 September 2019
It's been nearly a decade since Jason arrived, so this time it's Jason vs the hot girl. The guy who created the costume recently passed away so check this movie out and remember what he did to him.

The first film in the franchise to feature a song by a pop artist
13 September 2019
When most people think of this movie, they think of the song He's Back The Man Behind the Mask by Alice Cooper, as well as the stereo surround track, a first in the series, as well as a modest budget and great effects. It shows.

Underrated horror classic.
13 September 2019
If you though Part IV was the end, think again. Part V is all you love about this franchise, but more. More action. More sex. More laughs. More horror.

Don't let the title fool you....there is more to come...
13 September 2019
When this movie came out 35 years ago, it marked a turning point in the series. Yes, there's a recap of the first three movies in the prologue. But what happens next is pretty good. The success of this movie convinced Paramount to make more of them, starting with A New Beginning in 1985 and continuing with Jason Lives in 1986 until when he takes Manhattan in 1989 when the series started to lose a bit steam before New Line acquired the rights to use Jason in an ill fated sequel as well as one in outer space before bringing him back to life fighting New Line's other famous killer, Freddy, in the highest grossing installment of their careers.

This movie is pretty darn good.
13 September 2019
A killer disco theme at the beginning and the end, plus the intro of Jason's iconic hockey mask. It's also the first movie in the franchise to be shot in scope as opposed to the first two which were shot in flat ratio and also the only one to be shot in 3d, not the current 3d but the red and blue 3d that was part of the 1980's fad that was revived for a short time and ended with Starchaser.

Filmed in my old hometown of Blairstown!!!
13 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
When I first started to watch this movie back in the summer of 1998 as I approached 16 years old, i was scared to death and enjoyed the film as pure horror escapism. Little did I know that when i moved to where they shot the movie, I knew some of the locations from the movie!!! I later saw all of the movies save for Jason Goes to Hell, hated Jason X, hated the remake, but loved when Jason met Freddy!! I also loved playing the online videogame where you play as either Jason or one of the campers from the original series. The music is iconic as well as the cast. Jason doesn't appear in this movie at all, he's only a young child and the killer is his mom. He would return in part 2 and then don the hockey mask in part 3, the only 3d installment of the franchhise and the first one to open on a friday the 13th against the 1982 reissue of Star Wars. Ki-Ki-Ki-Ma-Ma-Ma...

Halloween II (1981)
8/10
After seeing the new Halloween, this one still stands on its own
11 September 2019
When Halloween came back last year to record breaking results, it was a breath of fresh air and forced the filmakers to create two back to back sequels slated for release next year and the year after that. This pattern was similar to what Halloween II did when it came out, so a third one with no mention of Michael Myers and laurie strode came out to a muted response although the 1978 halloween movie was shown on a tv during a scene. If Halloween II was low budget, this sequel was big budget. The music is a bit different the pacing a bit longer, yet it still feels like a Halloween movie.

The Warriors (1979)

More than 40 years ago, this movie became a cult hit!!!
7 September 2019
In the summer of 1979, the biggest indie movie of the year that wasn't a horror film , it was called The Warriors, shot on location in New York City and featuring a cast of unknowns as street gangs that come and play....can you dig it? The movie soon became popular on home video and was released in two versions, the original theatrical version and a DVD version that adds in comic book style transitions which was approved by the director but dissed by fans. A video game for consoles was soon released by Rockstar Games to critical acclaim and was later ported to next gen.

If you liked it 1, then you'll love it 2
7 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It's been two years since Pennywise hit the big screen for the first time, and many horror movies have tried to replicate the success of this film, which remains the highest grossing horror movie of all time, all to no avail with the exception of Jordan peele, Jason Blum, and others. Add to that heavy rotation on HBO and great home media sales and this saga has become Stephen King's Star Wars/Marvel/James Bond. In It 2, the Loser's club is all grown up and seeking revenge for the evil Clown, who will come in all shapes and sizes, culminating in an all out finale that shows the heroes winning over evil and saving the day. It has more gore than the last one yet has more human emotion and keeps the movie moving along its 2 and a half hour plus length. Go see this movie.

Ad Astra (2019)

Between this and Rambo...i might see both of them this weekend!!!
2 September 2019
Screw Downton Abbey, that is a girl's movie. There has been more advertising on Ad Astra than Rambo V...and it's because of its star power. I don't care if this movie fails to recoup its budget but this movie looks original and captivating. More space movies have been made since the success of Gravity as well as Interstellar and the popularity of the movie based on the book The martian as a new generation wants to go to mars and beyond...

Great movie for people with autism and those who don't have it!!
2 September 2019
When i first saw the preview for this movie before one of those indie movies at an AMC, i thought it looked kinda cute. Then i saw the movie and loved it!! The name of the movie relates to a young boy with Down syndrome being taken care of by his caregiver who wants to play wrestling after seeing a vhs tape of a wrestling match. Shia LeBouf is great and so are the co stars. Zack Gottasgen should win an oscar for his role in this movie, which has become a surprise hit in the last weeks of summer.

Great conclusion to an epic franchise

When Olympus fell in 2013 every one loved it. When London fell in 2016 it was meh. Now an angel has fallen and this is the best of the series.

This game is pretty good and is a 4k/1080p remaster of three classic wipeout games along with an online mode and other extras. This game is not for the weak of heart. Highly recommended if you like trance music and racing.

Great movie and one of the best horror comedies of the year
23 August 2019
Made for only $6 million and making its money back this month is this movie, a 90 minute whodunit comedy with a dash of horror that's original and refreshing. Samara Weaving, who is related to Hugo Weaving, shines as the killer bride to be.

Probably Amy Adams' most famous role other than being in the DCEU Superman movies, this movie should be one you should watch on her 45th birthday today as of this writing. Flash back to a time when Disney was just Disney, pre touchstone, pre miramax, pre mcu and lucasfilm and pixar. Back when Walt was alive and telling stories to millions of fans around the world.

It's Superbad but with tweens
18 August 2019
One of the best original comedies to come out of Hollywood in recent memory, this film tells the story of four young tweens getting ready for a middle school play based on Rock of Ages, the 1980s set musical that inspired a sucky movie of the same name, when chaos ensues in the weeks leading up to the big event. If you are a tween, then this movie might be ok for you to see with an older person. If you're the same age as Seth Rogen, then this one is a no brainer.

The first space movie i saw in IMAX and a good one.
4 August 2019
Released a year before the Challenger disaster changed NASA forever, The Dream is Alive tells the story about the space shuttle program, which started in 1981 with the launch of Columbia, and ends with the launch of Challenger. The cinematography and audio were ahead of its time.
