Fate: The Winx Saga (2021–2022)

Nothing really new, but not bad.
24 January 2021
Truth be told, this is the type of book I'd read. I like magic stories, and journeys of self discovery. Could be worse. Mostly I find myself reminiscent of House of Anubis and Hexed - which are two very different shows.

Hex (2004–2005)

Great potential
17 June 2006
I came because I heard it was a cross between Buffy the Vampire Slayer (The Seried) and Charmed, I stayed because it was something so very different.

Don't get me wrong, I'm an avid BtVS fan, and a former fan of Charmed, and I was aching for some new dark fantasy / supernatural material. I've only seen the two episodes, but you can be sure I'll watch more.

Where BtVS and Charmed may have dealt with some dark issues, they were in general light shows. Hex is a dark with light moments. From the very beginning, this show made it self stand out from the current supernatural shows simply because it's so dark. This is not a funny show, but a dramatic one that draws you in to watch the journey that Cassie must face. Though, I must say that as I saw the end of the episode, I declared a pure Joss Whedon moment - even if he had nothing to do directly with this show.

I highly recommend this show, if you like British dramas and dark fantasies.

Seriously Weird (2002–2005)
Worth a shot
7 January 2005
Seriously Weird is full of entertainment. It is definitely targeted for a younger audience, and not really deep in subtext. It is a comedy that maybe thin at times but still amusing. It doesn't stoop to gross-out humor, and even throws in some angst one in a while. Granted, the one-note song Harris gives about wanting to be accepted and always chasing Claudia can be tiring, it does get spiced up on occasion, though he never actually sees Finella for who she is and her crush on him. Maybe if it had gone on a bit longer, we may have seen a bit more layers of that.

At its core, it's about friendship and being outside the "cool" zone in much the way Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV) is, or Harry Potter. While the core here of Harris, Hugo, and Finella are not necessarily fighting to save the world on a weekly basis, they are struggling to make it from day to day, something everyone can relate to. Blockbuster material maybe not, but still worth it, in my opinion. Much fun and a few good laughs.

I loved it!
16 April 2003
Though it been a while since I've seen the movie, I loved how it gave a different twist on an old story. Cinderella only gave one point of view, and a very biased one that that. "Confessions..." gives another, perhaps more true view of what it was like to be the sister of the prettiest girl ever... and how pretty can sometimes be only skin deep.

Makes me want to read the book!
