A part of an echo chamber
13 April 2024
This short film attempts to portray why Social media and phones are bad it doesn't do this by pointing out the legitimate ways Social media has harmed society instead it's just meaningless shock factor with a phone in the frame pretending that said issues were caused by the phone. The best scene that encapsulates this is where the MC sits down on a curb, a dog walks up to him, a guy walks up to the dog and kicks it for no reason. This film has the appearance of depth but is as deep as a puddle, none of what it brings up is worth investigating fully as it's just depression porn showing the negative aspects of a society that have been around since the Neolithic Revolution. Instead of prompting one to think about why these negative traits exist it tries to blame the phone in a manner that can't be any more heavy handed. Here's a list of things the film tries to blame on smartphones; Suicide, Depression, Kicking Small Animals, and Groping.

This film as a whole was clearly a bad faith attempt at portraying Smartphone usage by somebody who's never touched a phone or went outside in the last 10 years.
