Gap (2022)
How many relationship red flags do you want?
So many relationship red flags being glorified and romanticized - cheating, backstabbing, when "no" means "yes" ("me too" movement would like to have a word), inability to communicate, lashing out at friends, and somehow that is all okay. It's ironic that the main character is a CEO who hardly does any work but rather spends 90% of their time sleeping around with their employee.
But boohoo, she had a sad upbringing, and that is supposed to excuse all her bad behavior. Jesus Christ. Do you believe someone's upbringing should excuse them for their bad behavior? If someone was to come up and shove you because you uttered a word to their girl, is that supposed to be cute and romantic? My eyes rolled, because she doesn't just do this to anyone. She does it to her best friends who love and support her and who has had her back from when they were kids.
I mentally checked out when the main character would have gotten married and put the person they "love" in the position of a mistress. That's the most selfish thing you could do to someone you supposedly love. Spineless, selfish coward.
Terrible writing, and it's appalling that more of the author's work will get adapted. Are people just into toxic relationships? Or are they so blinded by their adoration of the gay for pay actresses that they don't see what terrible messages this show sends?
Or maybe it's because of the abundance of amateur kiss and love scenes masking a terrible story. Who knows. But hopefully, people realize how bad this is and don't actually look for this kind of relationship in real life.
