The Marvels (2023)
A lot of misses with little payoff
1. The villain is written very poorly and is mostly there because of the plot points which they want to show in the movie instead of the organic growth which you would expect. The villain was very shallow and her acting was very sub-standard compared to Thanos, Ronan, High Evolutionary and even Hela. She laked scene presence and fear factor was lacking.
2. Monica Rambeau character is really like a side supporting character whose job is to say the lines so that the conversation can move forward and the audience know that the scene is going to end. In the whole movie she was always coming up with the solution without showing how she figured it out. Maybe these scenes were cut from the final draft.
3. Nick Fury is a shadow of himself and is no longer the guy with the plan. Instead he is just there to reassure others and to always tell the stakes and to beg for help. This all makes him like he's not worthy of the status he's been given and is more like a poser.
4. The cats subplot and the singing planet subplot was very cringe for most of the fans in my cinema and they could have added some different stories instead which could have showed more engaging dialogues, scheming etc.
5. Carol Danvers was better in this one than Captain marvel movie still she is still acting like this lone ranger with so many plot holes in her story which no body knows about like where has she been all these years, Does she have any other friends or any other stories or battles which she was busy with in the past years. She could not show more about her character, her motivation which was a shame. She stills feels alot forced than organic.
6. Ms. Marvel was better than her 2 other co stars and did show more of her motivation and character but still at time she was too annoying, behaving like a child without any concerns for the situation that she was in. She should have acted more like how Peter was in Infinity War, like how he was fearful but was trying to act brave for Tony but you could see that he was scared himself and you could see that he wanted leadership from Tony and Dr. Strange and was following along their orders which was much more believable. In The Marvels it was lacking and Ms. Marvel was acting like nothing serious is going on and that everything will be fine and that she's confident.
Overall, the movie did not deliver and the overall story is forgetful and very isolated as well.
Invincible: In About Six Hours I Lose My Virginity to a Fish (2023)
A huge drop off from Episode 1
This was a very cheesy and unnecessary filler episode with the same old sentences from the 1st episode and the 1st season that I'm not my father.
There are literally so many many other interesting plot to go into more details and not sure why they are going into this direction, where the Adults are behaving like literal teenagers and teenagers are acting smug like they have everything figured out.
So many emotional outbursts in a single episode with fake drama between characters. The episode mostly contains people talking to each other about their feelings. Overall its just a meh episode with very few plot points with any interest. A snooze fest in my opinion.
The Witcher: The Cost of Chaos (2023)
A Huge disappointment
"The Witcher" TV series faced several critical issues that hindered its overall quality and left viewers disappointed.
1. Limited Geralt Screen Time: The lack of sufficient focus on the main protagonist, Geralt of Rivia, left fans wanting more of his adventures and character development.
2. Absence of Romance: The show's failure to deliver engaging love stories or captivating romantic arcs deprived the characters of depth and emotional connections.
3. Lack of Clear Motivation: Many characters lacked a clear end goal or motivation, resulting in scattered storylines that made it hard for viewers to invest in their journeys.
4. Inconsistent Character Development: Characters frequently switched sides and underwent drastic personality changes without proper explanation, making their actions and decisions confusing and unconvincing.
5. Illogical Decision-Making: The series suffered from moments of illogical decision-making, breaking the immersion and credibility of the fantasy world.
6. Flawed Dialogue: Some dialogues felt nonsensical and lacked depth, failing to deliver the epic feel that a fantasy show of this scale demands.
These issues collectively impacted the overall storytelling and character arcs, preventing "The Witcher" TV series from reaching its full potential.
A huge disappointment.
