Interstellar (2014)

Even better the 2nd time
28 December 2017
I barely remember watching this when it came out and at the time found little to no interest in the movie. Thanks to the power of YouTube, I began to watch clips of the movie (primarily the black hole scene) and was sucked into wanting to see the movie again. After seeing it again (and again) I've really come to like this movie for many reasons. The musical score is outstanding, intense and heartfelt. It really takes you on a journey through space and time all by itself. The movie however is much more than that. You wonder at the end if it was the science or the love that saw the mission through and brought Cooper back home (eventually). The detail and through of the script was on par to make Interstellar a great sci-fi movie with no goofy over CGI effects or aliens to ruin the scenes. I am not hugely fond of McConaughey but I found him to fit this role perfectly as did I with all the other actors/actresses in this futuristic film. I really would recommend this movie to anyone as it feels that you yourself are part of the journey and excitement and not just watching it on the screen.

Aliens for idiots
28 December 2017
This is about as far away from an Alien movie as you can get. Think Aliens for dummies with a plot having zilch to do with anything but two twin Androids, one good, one bad... Surprise surprise. The story starts and ends about the same as every alien movie aboard a lone ship in space yet the graphics looks very blah and unrealistic, even the alien creatures looks overly cartoony as everything these days does. The lead female role follows more a scared girl around and not the fierce SOB that Ripley was. If your any fan of the series, your better skipping and never wasting time or breath on this movie.

Don't even bother to think about this one
19 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Right off the bat, I will say that only reason this movie is not rates with 0 stars by myself is because its loosely based on historical facts and that the movie 2012 was much much worse. Even as I write this, my wife is watching the movie for her first time and its all I can do not to go crazy ignoring it. Nicholas Cage has always been a marginal actor but here it seems hes lost any ability to act. Nothing he does or says is believable. As for the rest of the actors in the movie, they too should have stopped a long time ago. The graphics throughout the movie remind me of late night B movies or something from the sci-fi channel... absolutely horrible. The sharks looked (and acted like jaws) the planes looked like they came from some cheesy 90's video game as did just about everything else. The Indianapolis was a heavy cruiser that the Japanese sub commander thought was an Idaho class battle ship and yet the movie was filmed on the USS Alabama with no changes to make it look like the "Indy". Finally (SPOILER) McVay was found dead from a gunshot wound in his front yard holding a sailor toy in his hand, not as the movie depicted in his living room. Also the Japanese sub commander did not speak English and there is no record that they ever met in person.

Pass on this movie, pass pass pass!

Very well done
15 February 2017
Im not a huge fan of Ben Affleck or new movies typically, but once it a while they all come together in such a manner that leaves me satisfied after the show ends. This would be one of those movies, it has well done plot, several twists, the story is well played out and Affleck's character proves to be very believable as many people I know suffer from his same condition(s) and they act in the very same manner. He (Christian) could very well be a person functioning in society at this very minute. The story is filled with lots of action but not to a manner that its overdone or that hes superhuman as typically seen in other movies such as the Bourne series. There's no huge gore factor, major death scenes, sex or nudity either. The action is fairly realistic and the way he just waives and walks off was humorous and emphasized his characters condition as if nothing had happened. I suggest watching this movie, it ended not how I thought it would and didn't leave you hanging in thin air for a second movie to be continued later on.

Ends well over a slow start
15 February 2017
This is one of those movies that my wife picked out for us to watch several years ago. I thought surely it was some sappy love story as it stars Jennifer A. whom I am not a fan of. The movie did surprise me as it played and the story unfolded. It was well done overall and surely was not of the romance genre. Its fairly believable with a typical business man, his ho-hum life, family, work etc etc and then walks in Jennifer A. who turns it around for him, yet the situation turns violent and the character cannot go to the police or his wife. The ending was well played and thought out with a few unexpected surprise, twists and lots of decent action. It ends with a man doing what he must to survive and protect himself and his future. I recommend watching this movie, its a few years old now but well worth the time.

Quite the show
18 December 2016
This is quite the show actually, and I am not one who gets into series of anything. I stumbled on this when the season began last year and was hooked from the get go. Its not overly sexed, full of excess violence as most shows feel they need to be these days. The story line is new to a world full of teen vampire whatever's. It gives quite the look at our country had WWII ended in any other way than what it was. The story is clear and exciting, well written and thus far the acting has been pretty good. I hope that Season 2 can live up to what the first season left us with. I recommend anyone to watch this but make sure that you watch season one before picking up on season 2.

The force has left the movie.
18 December 2016
Lets be honest, this movie was far less than par. I had great hopes that this movie would be held in high regards, much as the original movies were held. However, it fell short by a long shot and left me more than disappointed. I even managed to rent it a few more times, hoping that the movie would grow on me yet it never did. The acting was horrible, the story line was horrible, the overall thought that was put into this movie was... yup, Horrible. Its like they took "A New Hope" and made it worse and just to make the old and new crowds seem at ease with each other, they brought back the old original characters for some poor reason that makes less sense than any. Finally, who ever created the names of "Star Killer Base" had no common sense and apparently just wanted to get the movie done. This goes the same for Kylo Ren who had much potential until his unmasking at which point the movie took a huge spiral downwards into its final fiery resting point. If a fan, go watch the movie. Enjoy what you can then move on.

A must see that you already know how it ends.
18 December 2016
Wow! What a phenomenal movie to see. It ends exactly where "A New Hope" beings at creating a perfect story line leaving out very few details. The last 45 minutes were surely the best, with the last 5 minutes being edge of the seat action. You know how the movie ends but getting to that point will blow your mind with some of the best effects, scenery and action that have yet to come out of a SW movie. Keep an eye out for quick cameos, they are all over during the movie as well. This movie is far superior to "The Force Awakens" which was minimally decent at the most. If you haven't seen this movie, you better get to it quickly before the spoilers ruin it for you.
