Ghostbusters (2016)
Delightfully ridiculous
14 July 2016
Although there were some clumsy spots, I found the cameos and homages well worth the watch. It's every bit as silly as the original, and for all the same reasons. It's not Star Wars, people, the CGI is fun!

Be sure to watch the "bit characters" closely for familiar faces. The music was surprisingly good, but what could possibly be bad about anything that involves Elle King. Do stay through the credits. There's a piece at the end that is stellar.

Wigg and McCarthy are very believable besties, and McKinnon pulls off psycho scientist well. It's Leslie Jones who steals the show. Neil Casey was less pleasant, but I don't know if it was his acting or the character.

See it in 3D if you get the chance.

White Noise (I) (2005)
Totally Believable
14 December 2004
I recently was allowed to view this movie at a press screening. I can tell you as a professional ghost researcher, the portrayals are quite realistic and believable. The characters are accurate and the subject of Electronic Voice Phenomena is well represented.

It is a Hollywood-esquire movie in that some things are portrayed a little bigger than real life, but that in no way detracts from the believability of the movie. It has none of the fantasy that things like "Ghostbusters" bestowed upon a naive audience.

I loved this movie. Truly. It touched me on a personal level. It made me think about some of the more risky possibilities of my profession. And some parts really made me jump in my seat!

See it. At least twice.
