Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022)
A JOKE! But WHY?
This was one of the best creature horror franchise. Had hope that they would bring back it's true respect in this instalment after the last one(which is far superior to this one now).
But all they did is destroy everything about the franchise: now all we can hope is for a new instalment which probably won't come out after another 23 years.
The creators of this one should be banned from making more movies, especially recreating epic movies like Jeepers Creepers.
Hope Jonathan Breck and the whole original team returns to make the real sequel. It will be a blessing for us fans and we will be ever thankful.
Bhoothakaalam (2022)
Yes it's haunting if you're looking for that.
This film wins due to the pure acting done by both the main leads. Though the scare-bgm was repetitively used here and there, the score was good. Haunting it was, and every nook and corner of the house had it's own haunting tale to tell.
The film was good and the team did their job.

A breath of fresh air
A well crafted, well directed, well acted movie that I've seen after a long. Looking into the sheer idiocy of films being released in the name of new generation these days, this movie is a calm breeze of a relief and something to look forward for the audience who seek quality in movies.
The creator needs more appreciation cause this movie is really underrated.

A mess of what could've been a classic
As someone who has watched a lots of time travel, parallel universe movies from all categories, I personally felt this one could have easily become a cult classic for the Indian or Malayalam film history but instead with a visionary director like lijo, he messed it up with a story that gets so messed up with lots of plot holes. They didn't even care to identify(leave alone the mysteries) the characters well enough pretending to be open-ended. I wanted to like it and I tried but the film turned out to be very pretentious and boring and just couldn't click. Chaos and confusion was great in jallikettu but making that a habit in all is just not that interesting.
A very pretentious film trying hard to be something unique and arty. And I still don't understand how the censorship let it go with so many cuss words though could be necessary for the story which has become like a new stupid trend in the Malayalam film industry.
But still hats off for trying. And as an independent director claiming to not care for money and just attempts to express his visions he must be appreciated because there is no other director bold enough to experiment like this man here. Definitely a change for the Malayalam film history.
Keep up the great work. But try hitting the spot next time as a great film maker cos even though you don't care about money, we expect something from a good director like you and we do care for our money and time.
The Little Things (2021)
Really wanted to like it.
Great actors like denzel, remi and leto felt as if they were not in a mood to act. The whole concept of the movie was fine and had certain potential but bad acting(by good actors) and poor editing made a good movie go to waste.
Chaappa Kurish (2011)
An under-rated gem.
This movie is vastly underrated by the average malayalee audience that some really don't appreciate the goodness in it.
The film is a well crafted gem of a character study thriller if you can see through it. The character shift of character who decides to play a mind game was very slick and dark and how we tend to sympathise an arrogant main character is appreciatable. The movie is definitely not for the ones who don't appreciate real hidden gems and if you are one, then do not skip this one!
Guppy (2016)
Great watch!
This is how a movie should be made. The movie is well crafted with emotions and the ego clash between a very young man and an elder man is shown in a sheer character study showcase. The main character is so accurate in his performance equally supported by the other main character as a boy filled with mixed and confused emotions. Hats off to the director and others who helped creating this well made film. The song thaniye was too a diamond in the rough.
All the few negatives there may exist in this movie is outweighed by the good!
Kala (2021)
I tried to like this, but couldn't.
The movie could have been better in many ways looking into the standalone concept of the second main character. But it flawed big time due to certain strong points of unnecessarily stretched out action sequences that weren't even realistic to begin with. The lengthy film is just the muscle flexing of the technical side and that's all it does. The time is just used to display that side of it and there's nothing more to it. Some audience may find it naturalistic but as a keen observer in many thrillers of foreign languages, it doesn't even come close to naturalism rather than very superficial expressions and action sequences. I'm not comparing because me as a malayalee myself tend to see upgrades in direction and action sequences in our movies but only few have pulled that off yet!
Anyhow, I really wanted to like this movie for the effort of the characters taken but the poor first half(bad acting by few main characters) and poor direction just killed it! Could've been a great movie though.
I can't deny that I appreciate the time-period(90s) nostalgia they put into the movie. That was a nice move.
But kindly learn from the mistakes.
Nayattu (2021)
A good one.
The film did try it's best in terms of capturing the raw feel of fear through out the 3 characters(who did exceptionally well). The supporting actors like the female police official character couldve done better(i personally felt she didn't use her whole skill when she actually could). Everything else was at par(even the final act of the male police official who was trying to seduce them to wrongly confess). The movie had a lot of build up going on until the end which could've been a bit more harder.
Yet the movie is quite impressive in its own terms and for the audience who seek more realism in a thriller, it's a perfect selection.
Joji (2021)
A good character study but tried it and tested before too.
The movie does elevate itself from the usual 70% of the movies in Malayalam, yet there is nothing much to it other than that. Lots of cuss words won't do much difference either. It's unnecessary when you over do anything.
The character study seen on the main character was worth watching and the sinister ambience through out keeping a dread feel was appreciable.
Other than that, there's nothing much here but the usual trying hard to be different.
As a whole it was a good watch. Long way to go for us but they're atleast trying and it's nice to know the people are beginning to accept more realism in movies. Anything is better than the ordinary(like Lucifer and Pulimurugan).
Mazhayathu (2018)
The movie was good until the ending destroyed it.
The movie had every potential to be a good movie and it did do well until the ending made it a disaster.
Actors were decent(minor flaws here n there). But the ending really was bad and it felt the director was really in a hurry to end the movie.
