You might have to watch this if you have kids
After the third toilet joke in the first 10 minutes, I was wondering if I was going to have to wait in the lobby until this movie was over. Fortunately, the movie got very slightly better, and I think I might have even laughed once.
The graphics were well done, especially the time traveling sequences, which was a bright spot in an otherwise bad to middling film. As for the music, I realize it isn't Disney, but come on, I could write better songs than that.
I realize I'm not the target audience, but the movie has to be at least bearable by adults.
Max Payne (2008)
Max Payne-full to watch
I can only assume that the parts in the script that the actors read and signed up for were better than what appeared on the screen. Either that, or there was a epidemic of head wounds going around Hollywood.
The plot is disjointed and at times incoherent. There were major plot points that brought laughter and derision from the Austin Film Festival screening audience.
The sparse dialog is often trite, and as for character development, don't hold your breath.
Give the movie a miss, and just play the game. I give the movie a 3, but the game I give a 9.
