Horrible acting and non existing plot
9 May 2017
Emile Hirsch is a great actor, I believed pretty versatile too until I came across this movie. However his stud, tough guy act is a pain to watch, he just seems to never fit the bill nor the part throughout the whole movie, the more I watched the more I wanted to unsee. Maybe there's something about the physical attributes that completely clash with the idea of a character that was perhaps behind his play.

He looks like a teenage, tiny Clint Eastwood version spoof or something like that. It would be hilarious if it wasn't meant to be drama.

The cherry on top for this disaster is the script, the guy who wrote this should be crucified and flogged to a pulp. It just doesn't make any sense drifting between teen-age fantasies and wanna be tough (someday) men.

the new karate kid !

The way of remakes never end , and this new never back down is the bright example , I've expected a more different story at least about the main character life , instead the more I was watching the more the script and the whole plot resemble karate kid , with just a touch of modernity and style due to the " ultimate " style of martial arts , as i'm a big fan of that , I do appreciate and after i saw the movie I felt a deep nostalgy for the past .. it made me reflect how the times change and run , furthermore Im also a fan of Djemond Hounsou which is one of my favorite actors and idols at 44 years old he has a physical shape and conditions incredible for a man of his age .. unfortunately hes part is not very well shaped as him in the movie , but it can be enough to capture another generation of karate kids ! or Randi couture !? in this case :) entertaining energetic and the good soundtrack support the lack of originality of the entire film , good for kids around 14 16 but also for a little older guys in search of some good memories ...

the new taxi driver !

Just after I've watched this movie , i thought it was not so good , I expected something different , everything happen too easily , characters are a bit too emphasized in their defects , like for example the total inaccuracy of the police officer , some of the very brutal scenes are not so realistic , its easy to think how can this be possible ? like when after being shot and with multiple fractures and a huge wound in the head the protagonist stand up form is hospital bed and jump out of the window to chase is enemies ... and ended up in the most fictional clichés but ...anyway , it could be a portrait of the inefficacy of the juridical system and the frustrations of one is exposed after a very unfair verdict , although nothing can justify the way of the main character solve the situation, the story development its quite entertaining and the fast subsequent of events and rude violence keep me watching , in the end its a good action movie.
