Batwoman (2019)
Arrow was god comparing to this
Arrow had its problems, being cheeky & soap & all, but it did have a great start, plus still somewhat decent after 7 long seasons and 140+ episodes.
The new Batwoman ... was just bad & boring.
A half decent show would know how to build up some suspension in story line, lay some ground work for its characters to grow. But why do those mundane things, if you have something as edgy as lesbian love triangle?
It's not just the story telling has no basic fabric, the casting choice for main and supporting characters was equally awful. For the entire pilot, everyone demonstrated two, or MAYBE three emotional ranges, everyone is like wearing a plastic mask. There wasn't one genuine moment which captures the audience's heart.
And don't get me started on the cinematography, the scenery was so dull, it made BoJack Horseman look like Game of Thrones.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
Pretty Damn Bad
Logan, the last installment of X-men, is one of the best Superhero movies ever made. It is a genuinely touching story that commands audience's heart and attention.
How could Hollywood drop from Logan to this?
Dark Phoenix is so empty. It bored me so much that I was rooting for the aliens to destroy mankind along with this film in it. The directing was all over the place, actors barely have any chemistry whatsoever. Professor X was reduced to a grumpy old man and glory hunter. Really?!?!
And yet Hollywood had to threw in lines like, "it's the women saving men out there, it should be called X-Women" ... W-T-F, it was so forced, had zero reason to be in the dialogue. It doesn't fit the character Raven at all. For all the previous X-men movies, I have never seen a line like this.
Not only Hollywood can't make good movies anymore, it was infested with PC garbage as norm. What a sad day for X-men fans and the industry itself.
Men in Black: International (2019)
22 Years Later
The first MIB movie came out in 1997 - it was original, exciting, and hilarious. Will and Tom really sold it to audience worldwide.
Now fast forward 22 years later, with all the technical advancements in the film industry, the new "MIB International" felt empty, pointless, and extremely boring. There wasn't one genuine attention grabbing moment in the entire 2 hours,
Chris is charming, but his performance was shallow, Agent H was more like a playboy than hero. Tessa is supposed to be the new girl power that is a breath of fresh air into the man dominated world. It'd be great, except we have seen nothing of the sort. She didn't demonstrate wittiness, resolve, mental or physical strength to be the new generation of agent that the show is supposed to deliver. Her performance overall is blend.
The screen play was badly written, ladled with holes bigger than the galaxy. Directing was so bad. Also the "Climax" at the end was just ... too quick and too predictable, the audience were barely given any sort of excitement, tension, touching moment, not even a motivation speech or logical ending before it's all over.
FBI (2018)
Tied Cliché
Why the network keep producing this kind of boring procedural shows? Anyone seriously watching this crap? Every single one of the lead characters is one-dimensional, all the dialogue are PC crap through the roof. It's so boring, the entire show is about social stereotype, not one bit of original or interesting idea.
Hellboy (2019)
Shambles
What's up with the stupid rock music throughout the movie? Not only not fit the screenplay, they set the entire show back for about 20 years.
Besides, it's quite clear the director had no intention to tell a coherent story at all, it was excruciating 2 hours with random action scenes and characters popping up left and right, barely stitched together with one-liners. The story and characters are so flat and one-dimensional, I literally felt they were trying to make it into a comedy.
What a hatch job by Marshall. The show is deservedly bombed at box office.
The Boys (2019)
WOW!
Was looking forward to this for a while, and boy, it was worth the waiting!
What a great show - it is dark, violent, hilarious, and above all, it has a great story line and in-depth characters. This is not your ordinary superhero story, nothing is pure black and white, no character is one dimensional. It portrays a complex world with believable struggles and conflicts. The heroes, if you can even call them that, are living breathing things like the rest of us.
One of the best fantasy shows this summer! Highly recommended!
Future Man (2017)
Not Good
The show started with promising concepts and set-up, wasn't great but watchable. Halfway through the first season it quickly ran out of steam. The story became more and more absurd, and jokes were just tired cliché. I can't imagine anyone with IQ above room temperature find this kind of stuff funny.
I get the show is making a mockery the whole time-travel, gaming hero saving the world concept, it's a good design, but executed poorly with very little taste or class. It is ironic that it didn't rise above the same core it's making a mockery about.
Charmed (2018)
Charmed ... it is NOT
The original show was cheesy, but nevertheless has a solid backstory, plenty laughs, touching moments, the screenplay and acting were top notch.
Fast forward to 20 years later, they have decided to "reboot" the show, by taking away all achievements and things made the original show successful, instead fill the vast void with broken story line, sub par acting, insipid dialog, blindfold directing, and, let's be honest, very average looking actors.
But CW was expecting a rousing response and unconditional love from the fans, because, you know what, this is a show about "diversity" and political correctness.
No wonder it has lost more than 60% of its audience before the first season even ended.
The Expanse (2015)
Really Cool Space Sci-Fi
The show has a complex story line but nothing soap opera, the acting and direction are both top notch, plus very well done visuals, the spaceship and space battle looked really real and really cool. I simply love this show. It's excellent that Amazon Video picked up the forth season, looking forward to it!
Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
Fun to watch
Didn't expect much but turned out great, it's a fun movie to watch, lighthearted, a lot of action, laughs, overall well directed. Holland is a more convincing Spider-Man than his predecessors.
