Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006)
Don't waste your mind, heart, attention, time or money
The summary says how I felt before I even found out about the oppression of the people used in making it. I have never before rated a movie with 1 star and wished it could be rated with none. I have never before felt so taken in and misled by reviews and word of mouth on radio. I am not even going to waste any more words or attention on it now and since I have to write 10 lines I will recommend recent movies more worthy of attention: What the Bleep Do We Know?; The Secret; One; Conversations With God; An Inconvenient Truth; America: Freedom to Fascism; and for those who may think I am just some kind of prude, I also found Transamerica worthy of attention; and for those who went to it just for the graphic and close to graphic sex, I actually liked Shortbus and had a salon myself during the Gay Era at Villa Amari, though I didn't recognize it as such at the time.
What the #$*! Do We (K)now!? (2004)
I know you're missing something amazing and wonderful if you don't see this movie!
I saw it 4 times in two days until my thirst for it was quenched!
I brought friends, sent e-mails, invited strangers in off the street and felt so alive these past two days! So happy to participate in the energy with these brilliant, patient, courageous people who made this tremendous movie. Also happy give the paradigm shift a big nudge! See it for fun! See it to learn something! See it to change your life, if you dare! Be sure to tell everyone you know to ask their local theater to show it and bring all your friends and family if you are lucky enough to have it showing near you.*** Added 2/17/05 - Held over 43 weeks in Tempe/Phoenix ... you still have a chance to see it as it continues to open in new theaters. Ask for it near you if you haven't had the chance to see it. The theater experience is much different than a DVD (which isn't legally out yet). I've now seen it about 2 dozen times and ready to go yet again. Hope to see you at the movies!
Wavelength (1983)
One of my all-time favorites!
I originally came to this movie with no expectations and it stayed in my top 10 list for a long time, still remaining as an all-time favorite. I liked meeting and getting to know the characters before their lives were impacted by the main events of the story. I found the three main characters (played by Robert Carradine, Cherie Currie, and Keenan Wynn) very believable and engaging. I particularly enjoyed the Native American interchanges and the words of wisdom from the travellers. I don't know what movie the other reviewer watched (or did he leave too early or fall asleep?) - because when ET phones home there is definitely an answer!
