Though filmmaker Travis Mills usually prefers actual blank fire on set, all gunshots in Texas Red were added digitally by visual effects artist Bill Wilson because of the inability to fire shots in neighborhoods where filming took place. The sound of the gunshots were taken from actual live fire recorded at the end of production from all of the weapons used by the characters. See more
