Entirely foolish lineup of singers
21 August 2020 | by NanoFrogSee all my reviews

Ugh. This could have been, should have been much better. From a Kristoferon who seems to be suffering from dementia. a shrivelled and worn out James Taylor and all those other male singers I have never hear of and who had no business there, this was very tedious. It has a few moments that are interesting, including a few out takes of Joni saying things. Emmy Lou Harris is always great, and she make a song not many have heard that Joni wrote about the enslaved and abandoned women of the catholic church in Canada. Very few of these singers did any justice at all to the genius of Joni Mitchell. Joni Mitchell is a significant and important woman. Having all these creepy men sing her songs was just creepy to me. Her station as a woman who was and is a master at music, instruments, writing and performance gets lost in this "give all comers a chance" nonsense production. Yes, there are a few great performances but honestly, most of the performers are not fit to stand in Jon's shadow, much less sing her songs. Really disappointing.
