Louise and Kaspars meet on a trip to celebrate Midsummer's Eve. They're both running away from their lives; they're young, talented, and lost, and the trip turns into a shared journey through a relationship over the course of 3 years.
This was a gem. The film remained true to its origins including traditional Latvian celebrations and focused on a generation that didn't learn Russian. The storyline was set over three years so you could see the evolution of the relationship of the main characters. It was funny in moments with some cynical lines spoken by the female lead. What was novel was that the female lead was more experienced in love than the male.
