The IMDB summary for "Sunset Over Mulholland Drive" isn't quite right. While it is true that the story is set at a retirement home, it specifically is set at a very special retirement community. Created in the 1920s, The Motion Picture and Television Fund is home to many elderly actors, editors, directors and other film-related folks. But the film is NOT just about this retirement home but specifically about a small group within the community. Some time ago, a local university established a creative writing group for the residents and the documentary focuses on these members. Through the course of the story, you learn about their lives and passions...and although you probably won't recognize the names of any of these folks, their stories are compelling and interesting...particularly for fans of classic cinema. Not a brilliant film but a sweet and enjoyable one.
