The Black woman riding the blue motorcycle is an homage to Bessie Stringfield. She was the first Black woman to ride solo across the continental United States. She did so in 1930 on an Indian Scout at the age of 19. During WWII, she served as a civilian courier for the US Army riding a blue 61 cubic inch Harley Davidson between Army bases. She died in 1993 from a heart condition, having kept riding right up until the time of her death. She was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2002.

The Butterfly Gold pattern on the cup on Montrose's table was not introduced until 1970, fifteen years after the events of this episode take place.
