Sergio Torres left everything in pursuit of his dream. In this documentary, filmmaker Jasper Spanjaart captures his journey as the two retrace a story of sacrifice and perseverance to find out what pursuing dreams is all about.
How far would you go to pursue your dream? When 22-year-old Sergio Torres quit his job in a brick-factory in rural Argentina, his friends and family thought he was crazy. Sergio then spent all of his savings on a plane-ticket to England. Into the unknown, with nothing more than a dream: he wanted to become a professional footballer. Filmmaker Jasper Spanjaart captures an incredible story of sacrifice and perseverance that took the Argentinian from working morning-shifts at a Boots warehouse to playing at Old Trafford, the Theatre of Dreams. Join them on this journey, as the two retrace the story of The Unknown Torres to find out what pursuing dreams in life is all about.
I highly recommend this documentary film about the footballing life of Sergio Torres. The football journey in itself is unbelievable and inspiring but actually the bigger impact is how this young man seemed to positively impact everybody he came across a long the way. The total absence of cynicism is rare in professional sport but Sergio Torres comes across as someone who simply retained the childlike awe of playing a game he loved. The scenes with his Dad were particularly touching - a beautiful bond between father and son.
