Feeling abandoned by friends living more adult lives, Milo rashly decides to become the surrogate for an older gay man she meets at a bar. As the pregnancy progresses, she must contend with the implications of their evolving relationship.
As a lesbian couple is holding a baby shower, a straight-woman friend meets a 50-something bartender / drag artist who desperately wants a baby, but has failed both on adoption and surrogacy. She impulsively offers to be his surrogate. As the pregnancy progresses, the two parents' diverging ideas / fantasies of how the child will be raised start to conflict.
This is a good study of the pitfalls of surrogacy, where there is no signed-in-advance contract, or even a pre-negotiated agreement between friends. My quibble is whether someone over 50 really should be looking towards having a baby alone.
