This documentary explores the sexual and social identity of contemporary black America through intimate, eye opening and often hilarious accounts from women and men who find love and community in the underground world of exotic dancing.
Ostensibly this show is about "style" or maybe "fashion", but in reality it is an alternate look at history with a focus on style/fashion as it looks at the history of American culture over the last half of the 20th Century. Believe me I am not the least interested in fashion, but the series is quite illuminating when it seeks to define how people's behavior was changed, and the focus is on what we wear rather than war, crime, domestic behavior, etc. Definitely a must for history fans and people interested in American culture.
